I ordered ths online because it was not available in the store. The shipping was cheaper than me using the gas in my car to drive to Walmart! It arrived in three days. It works great, to grill, sear and smoke. Easy to maintain temperature and keep the water pan from drying out with the door on the side. Lots of room for smoking but limited on grill size.

If you are looking for smoker without spending a lot of money this is a good one. It works real good for ribs and smaller cuts of meats(under 7lbs). The only problem I have found is that if you are cooking a larger cut of meat that takes longer then 7 or 8 hours the charcoal pan will fill up with ashes. It can be a pain to get them out so you can put more coals on. You can find some videos online that show you how to modify it to make it easier. Overall this has been a good little smoker.

this smoker is not worth the low price. The biggest problem is it will not stay hot enough to cook properly. After reading other reviews other owners dramatically altered theirs in order to actually cook. The biggest issue is it does not circulate air well enough to keep the coals hot. I had to cook leg quarters for 5 hours in order to be safe enough to eat. I struggled to keep the temps up and adding more wood and coal is difficult. There is little room to add wood or coal. I am going to sell mine and go with something else.

I really like this smoker. I have had it for about 2 years and use it often. I have found some ways to improve the design however which are pretty simple. The first one I found searching the internet and that was to mount the support legs on the outside of the smoker rather than the inside. If you do this you need to purchase 2 or 3 patio bricks to support the charcoal pan, these bricks are cheap. Use the bricks to support the charcoal pan then when you need to add charcoal just lift the entire smoker off of the bricks/ charcoal pan, add charcoal, and replace smoker over coals. You can also put a small grill rack in bottom of charcoal pan to improve airflow under coals. I like to control the airflow so I usually seal around lid with rolled up aluminum foil. I drilled 3 holes in the lid and installed a round damper so I can control the upper airflow and temperature easier. To make clean up easier I usually buy a $1 aluminum pan to place the meat in on the smoker racks. All of this may sound like a lot of trouble for a smoker you purchase but the additions really don't cost much and can help the performance of the smoker.

Review 5 for Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker
I bought the smoker/grill because we have a very small space. I liked the two in one use and I've wanted a smoker for a long while. We've used it twice as a grill. On the grill perspective, it cooks a little slower than a regular grill, but not a major time difference. Your foods have a more smoky flavor than a regular grill. I'm thinking that if the lid is cracked, that might lessen the smokiness. My 12 year old did not like the smoke flavor in her hamburger but the adults did. I thought that the hamburgers and steaks we've cooked on it so far were awesome. I tend to like my grilled foods to have more charring than we've been able to get from this smoker but most others don't like that. It definitely cooks well so you don't end up with food that is cooked on the outside and bloody on the inside.

good starter smoker, but...

This isn't a bad smoker but it isn't really usable right out of the box. This was my first smoker and I had a very hard time getting the temperature up over 200 which is about the minimum to smoke safely. I moved the legs the outside and added legs to the charcoal pan so it stands independently. This allows me to life the smoker off the charcoal. The little door on the side really isn't practical for adding lump charcoal. I drilled some holes in the charcoal pan to allow better air flow and this helped get the temperature up a lot. The temperature gauge that ships is useless as it doesn't have the actual temperature. I simply drilled a new hole and installed a new one.
Once I had done these things it worked like a champ. I have used it for more than 2 years now and it has made some amazing meals.

Review 8 for Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker
I really liked smoked meats and have wanted to try smoking myself. Several people I know have very expensive smokers, but I was not willing to spend a lot since I had no experience at smoking. I purchased the Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker and figured for the price I could just use it for a charoal grill if the smoker part did not work out. On my first attempt, after curing the smoker as directions stated, I tried smoking a pork loin and the Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker made me look like I had been smoking for years. I would recommend this product to anyone who can read the directions and follow instructions.

Review 12 for Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker
After purchasing this item online, I picked the item up the afternoon of Nov. 21, 2012. The box was damaged but I was certain the metal smoker inside would be fine. I was wrong. The smoker had a huge dent in the side near the bottom and was un-usable. I exchanged it the following Saturday, Dec. 1,2012. I notice this one also had a crease near the bottom of the box, but did not appear to be so bad. However, when I removed the main body of the smoker from the box, it had somehow been squeezed into an oval shape and I couldn't get the lid to fit. I plan to return this smoker to the Harker Heights, Texas Wal-Mart this upcoming Saturday for a full refund. I'm not buying another smoker from Wal-Mart. I'm very disappointed.

Review 15 for Brinkmann Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker
good way to get started in the smoke biz but be aware that there are several aspects of the design that will make your job a little harder. The lid is designed to fit loosely on the body of the smoker therefore letting out heat and smoke. There are no vents to help control the temp internally and the temp gauge on the front will only give you an estimation. The bowl on the bottom has no grate to hold up the charcoal or wood chucks so the ash created by them will eventually snuff out your fire. All this means that you will be fighting temp control on this smoker. It is most suited to smoking items that only need 3 or 4 hours to complete. All this being said, this smoker will handle smaller pieces of meat, ribs, a chicken, things that don't require a long cooking time.

This is my second one. I used the first one frequently and will still use it for back-up as needed. I really like the size and cooking options. The lid seems to be a bit warped on this one, but I'm keeping it.
