The unit does not adapt to mountain bikes. You have to mount the bike in an awkward manner. One of the hold-down straps broke the first time I used it...cheap rubber. I do not recomment this bike rack...period! I guess I got what I paid for!!!

I actually trusted the reviews of people who purchased this before me & went ahead with my purchase. Unlike the expensive ones which mount on the car, this one does require a little maintenance. Each time I use it, I do check the straps & tighten if necessary (I simply wrap & tie the extra length of strap around the carrier - this was noted as a problem by others but I don't see it as a problem). I do use an elastic cord to secure it but I would do that with any of them. The only drawback that I found is the potential for theft. Someone can remove the entire carrier with the bike attached so I am careful where I leave my bike. All in all, great for the price, works perfectly.

This seems like a good item for the price, but it's not. It's very hard to get the rotating arms to lock into place, and virtually impossible to unlock them to fold the unit for storage. The straps are way too long - I end up tying them around the unit several times to keep them from flying around when I drive. The instructions are very vague, so the first time I set it up, I had the wrong arm out and the metal scratched the trunk of my car. And the velcro straps that lock your bike into place are attached to rubber rests/grips, one of which has already split - and I've used the thing twice. I definitely wouldn't take this rack on a long trip, and I'm seriously considering returning it. Buy a real bike rack that won't scratch your car or lose your bike.

We had bought a car too small to fit a bike into with the idea that we would install a hitch and use a hitch mounted carrier only to find out that a hitch is not recommended for this (tiny) car, even for a bicycle and anyway there is no hitch available that will fit it. This was a big problem as being able to carry a bike is not an option for us and I have not had luck in the past in finding a trunk mounted carrier that will work with a hatchback. When helping a customer I noticed that this product is guaranteed to fit any car so I figured why not try. It took me maybe fifteen minutes to figure it out but it worked. It took two or three uses before I got it down pat. It is not all that quick, maybe a 4-5 minute process. I am a bit concerned that it obscured the license plate and that could get me in trouble. IMPORTANT NOTE: A strap to secure the bike is required but not provided. A bungee cord works fine.

This was simple to set up and I only had to carry one bike on it, but for the price it cannot be beat. It was easy to put on and take off. It says not for rear wheel SUV's...
SUGGESTION: I bought rachet straps or also known as locking straps and I looped one end through bike frame and then through rear tire, so that bike was not falling off NO MATTER WHAT.

The bike rack is very easy to install. Good value for the money. The only thing I found that I did not like was the straps once attached were too long, with no easy way keep them from flying in the breeze.

I think there should be better images on the manual. Also there is no image of a bike on the rack to see what it should look like. Works great and a good price. Not too hard to setup.. Also get a 6 foot lock to secure the bike.

this is a high quality product and I have had no problems till now. I didn't give it 5 stars because i would have liked to have side straps for more secure hold to the car. I have a sedan 4dr and this fits just fine.
