Very solid hoop, well worth the money

This is a well made basketball hoop, and is well worth the money. I wouldn't recommend dunking on it ferociously, but it is very solid overall. I only have the base halfway filled with water right now, and it holds up very well. There is not too much shaking when a basket is missed, and the adjustable heights are great. Just be aware when assembling it, to not tighten any bolts all the way on the poles that are attached to the backboard. Some of the pieces are EXACTLY form fitting, and won't fit if you've tightened bolts in previous steps too much. And when they say you need two capable adults, they mean it. Overall, it's a great product, and my entire family is getting a great deal of enjoyment from it.

Review 3 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
Bought this for my 9 year-old and just finished assembling today. It looks really great and works great so far! My child loves it and he played basketball all day. It's very sturdy (I filled with water, and may or may not switch to sand in the winter or the instructions say you can just add anti-freeze so the base does not crack) The only downside is it took about 4 1/2 hours to assemble with 3 handy and capable adults!! The instructions are horrible!! Unclear and difficult to decipher. Make sure you have a socket wrench (the instructions say wrench and/OR socket wrench - but you cannot assemble with a regular wrench.) But so far a good bang for the buck!!

Review 6 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
this is fairly hard to get together if you rush,I just finished a 3day swing set assembly so I rushed a bit and it cost me time...bottomline, make sure each piece is EXACTLY what they as for down to the spacer, there are both metal and plastic spacers, make sure you use the correct one when called for.also make sure the poles lin up b4 you tamp them down, I didnt and found away to get them apart, throw them down on the grass horizontally until they come apart only took 2 blasts from me but may take more..again follow directions to the T...after that it looks good....did not have to many pieces of hardwre left ove as they stated I may in the book

Review 7 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
Me and my 3 adult sons have some very aggressive games on it, and it's holding up pretty good. One CAUTION... It will take a very long time and a lot of open space to assemble. It literally took 2 of us, 7 hours to put together. But it seems to be well worth it.

Review 8 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
The basketball hoop is good quality for the price and sturdy. The directions are a little sketchy. This item is made in China, and possibly the interpretation of the directions are lost in translation, because you do one step first and 2 steps back, to change something.

This hoop was not a pain to put up as long as you know what you are doing you should be fine, and once its up looks great, I would recommend to anyone looking for a well developed hoop. Plus it has the Slam rim feature, doesnt say it in the description

Review 11 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
This goal took ALL day to assemble! Seems good quality and hope it lasts! I would really think before purchasing because after all of the time put into assembly, etc., you probably would not want to return as it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Broken rim in 5 days

Bought this for our 7 year old twins. Took hubby and I 3 hours to put together while the boys were at school. Put it up on Monday and now on Friday the rim is broke. Definitely not worth the hassel of taking the system apart to return for a replacement, but really the rim should last more than 5 days. We had a little difficulty with putting some parts together only because we used the wrong bolt at the time and had to go back and correct it. Cannot get the system to go to 7.5 feet as the bolts are too tight but the system adjusts to the other heights just fine. Next time I think we will buy one to anchor into the ground.

Great choice for the money

Just purchased on 30 March 2013. Assembled by myself; used sawhorse to balance. I was slow, but did take about 3 hours. Needed a mallet a couple places to get bolt through, but otherwise, it assembled just as directions stated. Driveway has a slight slope so I am off by about 3" from the measurements on the system, but played on it for an hour and all good so far. Easy to move to lower height; expecting to use a little muscle to get it back to 10'. Backboard is good; way better than Lifetime's products. Used water and that seems to be sturdy. Our use is for 7 - 12 year olds primarily and think we'll be happy with it.

Review 16 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
This took a bit more time to put together than I expected. My Son helped me and it still took several hours. The big problem came when we started to install the backboard. It appeared to have been cracked by a fork lift put through the box. This was mail ordered so I called WalMart.com and they agreed to send another goal. After this arrived I put the broken backboard in the box and returned it to walmart.com. Over all this has been a great deal for my grandsons. They love to play basketball. I would recommend this goal for the extra money over the cheaper goal. It is much sturdier for the extra 50 dollars.

Review 17 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
Read most reviews after i bought it and before the assembly. Not bad at all, just my self, 4 hrs. Minor adjustments on how tight some of the bolts are and sprayed all moving parts and the adjustment bar makes for easy use, 10 foot still tough to get locked in but not horribly, kids are 12,14, 17. Seems pretty solid as well shooting, surprising, but better than i had read.

I purchased this hoop almost a year ago for my son and have been very satisfied. Since then two of our neighbors have purchased the same hoop for their kids. I put it together by myself, but it really is best suited to have two persons to put it together. The only drawback I can think of is that its somewhat difficult to move, the base is very heavy but once tilted it can be wheeled from one location to another. I would not want to move it very often though.

Review 20 for Spalding 52" Angled Pole Portable Basketball System
It wasn't easy and it took a few hours to put it together that it's true. But now that is done we are extremly happy with this basketball system. It's sturdy, looks very professional and it's perfect even for our 5 year old when on it's lowest set up.
