Great vacuum with lots of sucking power, moved up to this from a 1998 model dirt devil thats on its last leg. It picks up so much more dirt...havent used the pet attachments yet but have a need for it with 4 cats in the house full time and a big dog who comes in an out. I dont think you will be disappointed with this one.

This is the second Bissell vacuum I've owned and I will NEVER purchase another Bissell vacuum. Nothing but PROBLEMS. Thought this one would work better since it was ment for people who have pets. This vacuum has been in the shop twice already and I've only owed it for 13 months. Besides other things I had the Pet Turbo Eraser tool replaced 4 times because it ceased up 3 times the other time it made some horrible loud noise could not even stand to use it because it was soooooo loud and irritating. The other Bissell vacuum also ceased up on me. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy a Bissell product.

Stopped working after very light use

If anyone is considering buying a Bissell vacuum, please don't! I have a nearly new one (used fewer than 5 hours), which has already stopped working and getting anything out of their customer service is not working. Either their customer service is actually computer-generated responses or the people are simply illiterate. The vacuum is supposed to pick up pet hair, but the beater bar stops after just one or two passes in my daughter's room because her long hair becomes tangled around the bar. I spent WAY more time taking the vacuum apart and fixing the beater bar than I ever spend vacuuming (5-10 minutes of vacuuming, 30 minutes to remove, clean and replace beater bar). On the last use, my daughter ran the vacuum across the hall carpet less than two feet, it stopped working, I did the whole 30 minute removal of the beater bar, we tried it again, didn't run for the entire two feet this time, removed the panel and beater bar again and the belt was broken! Bought a new belt, replaced it and it still won't run. I've been trying ever since to get their customer service to repair it at their expense and they won't.

Before I had this model, I had another bissell vacuum, still available for 40 something dollars.. I spent the 88 on this one, assuming that for a little more money, i would get a little better quality. I cannot tell the difference between the two. This vacuum does have a retractable cord, which i hate, it takes more work to get the button on this on to pull the cord back in than just wrapping up the cord myself. A small annoyance, but an annoyance none the less. It has good suction, but I liked the $40 model just as well. So save your money, buy the cheap one!

That said, if you want it to do the best job you have to clean the filters. If your floors are heavily soiled you need to clear them. When I dump the dirt cup I also pull out the upper filter and tap it. When I am completely done I wash the filters - all of them.
These are great machines but to keep the nice it takes an effort.

Absoutely wonderful vacuum. Handles a family of four with two dogs and one cat as if none of us were in the home. This vacuum picks up things you couldn't know where in the carpet. I love love love it!

Majorly disappointed in this vacuum. My vacuum that cost half the price works better. I bought it today, put it together which was the best part. It hardly sucks. The attachment works well but when you just use it to vacuum back and forth you have to go over and over and over the same area of the rug to make a difference. I am packing it right up and returning it!

I had just vacuumed my rooms just several hours before I picked up this vacuum from Wal Mart. I figured when I got home I would give it a try and see if it does what it was supposed to do. To my amazement I was picking up cat hair that my older 15 amp vacuum left behind not to mention the carpet deoderizer I used hours before too. I have only used it a couple times and seems to be doing really well. One downfall I have is the hose for it, when you pull on it stretches, but not loosely enough. Everytime I pull on it it pulls the vacuum over. Guess I have to get it broke in.

I was really worried about switching from a vacuum that used bags to a bagless vacuum but I am so glad I made the change! It is quick and easy to clean. I have a 4500sqft home I vacuum at least once a day I empty the canister about 2x a week. I love the fact that I can use the vacuum on tile, hardwood, and carpet. I have two inside dogs and a cat the detachable pet tool is wonderful. My only complaint is that when you are using the detachable portion of the vacuum the bottom keeps spinning and the vacuum is a bit heavier than my previous one.

Worked great for 5 minutes until the belt broke! Since it had really picked up well until that, I took the broken belt back to Walmart for replacement and was told I would need to return the vacuum cleaner. I bought a 2 pack of belts which fortunately were in stock. I replaced it and it worked fine after that. Pleased with suction and dog hair removal. Hopefully, the belt was just defective and it won't be a continuous problem.

Easy assembly. It is very light which makes it easy to carry upstairs. The tools fit snuggly on the body of the vacuum. It has great pick up on carpets and the hand tool really lifts tough pet hair off upholstery.

I have purchased 4 Bissell vacuums in the last 4 years, only 1 of which still works but, sounds like it is on it's way out also. I bought 2 of this particular model and the hose suction was poor in both, until the motor died the third time I was using one of them. The other one of this model was bought for my mother to use at her house. Her vacuum seems to vacuum the carpet well enough, it was filling up her dust cup but, again no suction through the hose so, it is working at least 50%. The motor in my vacuum sounded like it had marbles bouncing around in it the 3rd time I turned it on and then it died.
The 2 older models I bought (in pairs), one of which had it's motor die the 4th time I plugged it in, the other one is still running as long as I keep all of the filters washed clean for each use. The suction on it is not so great anymore and the motor on it has developed a high whine so, its not long for this world either.
I had also purchased one of Bissell's higher-end carpet steam cleaners and had problems with it in it's infancy. I figured that you only have a 20% chance of getting a good one, based on my history with them. I'm afraid I can't recommend the maker or the model.
