I bought 2 of these for my home office. I have about 1" thick tight shag carpet in that room. I purchased thinner mats from Office Max designed for thinner carpet first. The office chairs sank into them leaving permanent indentations in them. I found these on Walmart's web sight. They claimed they were designed for thick plush carpet. These are about twice as thick as the Office Max ones, and a bit more ridged. The chairs still sink in them making it difficult to move the chairs. I have a similar mat in another room with a hardwood floor. It's designed for hardwood floors, and is made of a ridged material. I'm going to try that in the office and see if it works better.
