I was fairly skeptical when I bought this tent because there were no 'detailed' reviews on it. When checking on YouTube for the Hiker/Backpacker reviews on Tents, there wasn't anything about the Xscape Explorer 2 Dome tent. (Seems these guys 'go for the name.') However, I ordered it anyway, in hopes for the low cost it would suffice my needs.
I was pleasantly surprised when I received it in within the time specified, and the fact that it was packed very well. The quality of this tent is 'not' the best on the market, but...for the price it is pretty darn decent. This tent is light weight, but not an 'ultra light', only because of the weight of the two poles and stakes, which are included. It is 'very, very simple to set up.' It took me about 2-3 minutes. The instructions are sewn into the fabric of the bag it comes in. The tent stakes have a strange bend at the tip, and do not appear really sufficient, but this can be rectified with a pair of pliers easily, to deepen that bend a bit.
The SIZE on the inside was surprising. I am 5' 7" tall, and I of course had a great fit with extra room to spare. (I'm female). I'm not skinny, but average build, and had plenty of room. There is most certainly room for 2 average size people in this tent, and enough room for their gear, depending how 'how much' they carry. Myself, it would only be my backpack and hiking poles. I was fairly disappointed though, that there are no mesh pockets of any kind, along the edges, for personal belongings, like cell phones and such. But at the top of the tent, there is a small hook to hang a tent light. I changed out the plastic hook for a small metal one, although it seems that the plastic would be okay. It just depends on the weight and size of the light you'd use. I would not suggest anything 'big and heavy.' That's not what this is meant for, and with the size of the tent would not be necessary.
I have not used it on a hiking/camping trip yet, but I'll be doing that in the spring. However, I did open it outside to be certain about it's construction, and ease of assembly. The nylon they used seems to be a decent quality, the light weight tarp used for the built-in footprint is a 'bit on the thinner side', but the grass I set it on did have some dead branches laying there, and nothing punctured through the bottom, while I was rolling around in it, which tells me that the reinforcement in it is sufficient. (at least for now) The rain-fly is very easy to attach, and it seems it would do the job of its intention. The zipper closure for the entry is well done, and consists of one zipper for the outside, and one that will open the screen as well. The two poles included are all this tent requires, are a very fast assembly and take-down. It rolls back up easily, and comes with a very nice, zippered nylon roll that will fit easily into my back-pack, or attached on the outside via mollys.
My only concern for now is the seams where the sewing had no binding or waterproofing. BUT, this can easily be remedied with seam tape, to insure there's no leaking. For the price of the tent itself, being this low, I don't have a problem with getting an add-on for this insurance. Plus to make doubly certain of waterproofing, I've chosen to use 'Scotchguard' as opposed to dipping it into any solutions and letting it dry. Dipping and drying is the 'hard way' to do something. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
So, all in all, for the low cost of the Xscape I am satisfied. I put it up on a windy day, and I still didn't have a problem handling it, nor did it blow or move around, with me in it. The tent is good for 2 average adults, or if small children, at least 3 to 4 little ones can fit inside, because of the tent's length, depending on their height. Using my son's children at ages 7 and 10, at nearly 4 ft. tall, they are average for their age and could fit at least 3 (possibly 4, depending on their weight) very comfortably. I'm hoping this review helps folks out.

This is great for backpackers. Nice and lightweight. Simple assembly and tear down and even fits easily into the case upon tear down!
