The only thing that is not so good about this desk is that it has about 1000 pieces. Thank goodness they are all labled and the directions were very good. It took us about 6 hours to put it together.

It would have been great if this came put together. That was probably the only draw back. Has everything you could want in a compact computer desk, file drawer, couple of regular drawers and compartment for a tower if you need it but converts to a shelves if not needed. The top doesn't lend itself to a lot of space if you use it for your laptop, which would easily take up a 1/3 of the desk. But overall a good solid desk.

I am enjoying the desk. Make sure you know it's more of an espresso color. Also, I read many reviews where people are complaining about the assembly but it's really not that difficult, just takes some patience.

I thought I would take a few minutes to write a review on this product. We had this shipped site to store. It took 8 hours to put together, so make sure you set time away to put this together.
My husband and I did a lot of research to find a workable desk, not too big, and still be able to keep my things organized. As I was taking each piece out of the box and putting together, I found incredible scratches, dents and many blemishes. I'm very concerned that Wal-Mart does not take more pride in their product and when they ship things. I have over 35 pictures, that just goes to show how much damage was done. They were not all in one area so as I put this together I would take a picture. For the most part, once it was together, it's perfect for me. The price was right, I have a lot of dents on the top desk, so I have to cover them up with an oversized calendar. and a lot of the blemishes are on the inside of the desk, still no excuse.
fits perfect in my living room, I have the black one, it's sharp looking. If you are looking for a desk, not too big, but able to organize what you have...THIS IS THE ONE, just be careful putting together. I reported to walmart.com and they gave me a little bit of a refund back, so I guess it was worth it. NOWAY, was I going to take this desk apart and return it, to get another. Start all over again. It was hard enough the first time, but very much worth it. Good luck!!!!

the desk is really great. The only complaint I have is that in shipping a few corners were damaged. Not really bad ,but you should package better. The desk is real sturdy,which surprised me. I expected some fiber boadr thin thing, but it's not. Would reccomend it to all.

Received on schedule by UPS. Packaging was intact and found product to be undamaged upon opening. There are a lot of screws to put this desk together but the end product was worth the two blisters I got. The desk looks great and fits exactly what I was looking for. One note though, when you assemble it, do so as close to where you want it as possible. The design of the desk does not lend itself to being moved much. I am extremely pleased with the desk and would buy it again.

I ordered this desk two days ago, and my husband and I just finished putting this desk together. It was very time consuming, but the directions were very clear. We actually used a cordless drill on the lowest setting to put it together which saved us quite a bit of time. We both love how this desk looks, and it is very sturdy. The only down side is that the cabinet door doesn't aline right. Despite that, I'd buy this desk again and would recommend it to a friend. You can't beat it for the price.

This takes about 3 hours to put together, but despite other reviews, it was not difficult to assemble for someone who has put together a few of these types of projects. I would recommend a good electric screw driver, or it could take longer.
The one disappointment is the finish. It's some type of plastic heat molded onto particle board, similar to the old bakelite coated products. In the sun you can see a lot of ripples where the plastic didn't conform smoothly.
It does seem solid, and though the chair opening is small, it will work for what we need it for; a simple computer table.

Good Looking, Functional, a few Short Comings

Have just assembled this unit, which took about 4 days to reach me in Central Virginia from Florida via UPS Yellow Ground. It arrives in 2 flat boxes, one about 50 lbs, the other about 75 lbs. Drawers glide in and out nicely and mount evenly. Keyboard mounted on actual ball bearing sliders. Assembly time for a seasoned assembler - about 4 hrs. Recommendation: use a powered screwdriver or drill/driver because much time is taken screwing in the hardware. They DO include a little screwdriver. Instructions are clear and for the most part well illustrated, mine came in English and Spanish. The desk is made entirely of particle board with a sheet vinyl veneer that resembles a walnut finish and is embossed with the wood grain.
Rather than attempt assembly where you want to locate the finished unit, use a kitchen counter top or similar as a workbench to produce the sub-assemblies first. Allow about 2-3 feet of working space for the cabs and drawers, and 4 feet for the desk top.
In general, the instructions assume that you will be assembling the unit at the location where it will go. But don't do it that way, unless you have a tremendous amount of working space. Assemble the various sub units first - the 2 cabinets and their drawers and a door. Then assemble the top working surface, complete with keyboard shelf attached. You'll need only 2-3 feet of counter top for convenient assembly of the cabinets and drawers. At this height, you'll be able to approach the work easily. You'll need at least 4 feet to work on the main desk top; if this space is not available, use a couch. But the idea is to finish all the separate components, and THEN assemble them in the location where they will be used. This means you'll need to skip ahead in the instructions now and then. For example, attach the door to the CPU cabinet after you've assembled the cabinet itself - don't wait until you put everything together, at the end.
Start with the smaller box which contains everything for the cabinets and drawers plus hardware for the entire unit and the instructions. All parts are numbered to match the instructions - the hardware in numbered plastic baggies. One issue is the drawer sliders which include the stationary track attached to the interior walls of the cabinets and the sliding piece attached to the sides of the drawers. Make SURE you carefully observe which part goes where, and how the part is oriented. For example, the rollers on the drawer slider should face the top of the drawer - but this means they will face DOWN and toward the back of the drawer when you attach them, because the drawer itself will be upside down during assembly (see panels 4 and 10 of instructions). Do NOT let your hardware become separated from the baggie that contains it, so that you can always fetch the correct screw of bolt. The unit is intolerant of misplaced hardware.
One possibly confusing instruction is #14, page 9, which is DEAD WRONG when it says "to fix the part 8A to the CPU Left and Right Panels." In fact 8A is attached ONLY to the LEFT panel, EXACTLY as the illustration shows you. IGNORE the instruction to separate the hinges (part 8) into 8A and 8B UNTIL you have first placed the entire part 8 (hinge) against the left panel to determine how how 8A should be positioned; it is possible to install it backwards! This instruction also shows a view of the hinge (part 8) with parts A & B of it fully engaged, and also separated. But the close up view of the hinge parts is the reverse (right is left, left is right) of their actual placement. That is, 8A is attached to the inside cabinet wall; 8B goes into the cabinet door, later. This erroneous section may have been corrected in the unit you receive, but play it say - print this out and keep it handy, just in case.
The only other caveat with respect to assembly is to make certain you pay close attention to hardware part E (6 X 40 MM bolt) and hardware part K (6 X 25 MM bolt). In a few cases, both are used in specific locations on the same panel of wood. Instruction #16 is a case in point. Areas of major stress get the longer bolt, so be sure to place them where they belong. Observe and follow the instructions exactly.
As you work through assembling the parts from the smaller box, you will eventually need to break into the larger one to get what you need.
Meanwhile, instructions tell you to slide the drawers into their cabinets near the end of the assembly. Don't fall for this, test immediately after you've assembled them. THIS is the time to find production errors, when they may be easily corrected.
Likewise, affix the cabinet door for the CPU cabinet NOW - don't wait until later.
The instructions also tell you to affix the keyboard shelf as a final step. This is nonsense; do it while you work on the main top panel.
You will end up with 2 cabinets and a top section -move these to the destination of the project and assemble them there. The "weakest link" is the panel that connects the two cabinets together. Near as I can tell, it serves only to establish the correct distance between the cabinets, it is structurally worthless. The main top piece drops onto the two cabinets and the connecting piece. This is all trial and error to get it right, just fuss with it until everything drops into place, which it will.
Some final tips: this unit uses "cams" which are all pre-installed. But it is ESSENTIAL that the longer groove on the top of the cam, with a pointed tip, points towards the channel through which the bolt is inserted to hit the cam, and be drawn in when you turn the cam.
Also, when you install bolts (by screwing them in) BE SURE they go in absolutely straight. If they are tilted, then they won't line up with holes which connect them to other pieces.
I'm very happy with this unit, and recommend it highly; it is well designed, has spacious storage, and looks good.

I have put together lots of furniture in my life and I was surprised to see how well this unit came together. Every piece was clearly marked and the instructions were easy to follow. The stickers identifying the pieces peeled off with ease. I did have a piece with a faint scratch on it, but decided not to bother with return. Overall a great product.

I did get the desk on a good on-line sale. It arrived in good time. My husband got it put together in about 3 hours. Lots of parts, but if you lay them out and follow directions it goes smoothly. I will be using the desk for a small home business and it is just the right size and looks nice also. Overall it is a very nice desk for the price and what i am using it for.

This serves its purpose. It comes in two boxes and you have to put it together -if you have a few hours, no problem. It looks exactly like the picture, the color is the same, everything works as it should. I have enough room to pile and open my school books. I have a 27 monitor which takes up alot of room, and I have to put my printer else where. If you have a monitor thats under 20inch you can fit a printer on the desk and still have room.

I was so happy when I received the desk and saw the color. It was exactly like the picture. The only complaint is all of the screws were not in the box. Six packs of screws were missing. We called Wayfair to order the screws. We clearly told the young man that we needed packs. When the screws finally arrived after two weeks, November 7, 2012, he literally put one of each of the six screws not packs as requested. I called again when I saw the missing screws and re-ordered the screws. To this date, I have not received the screws (November 28, 2012). We went to Home Depot and brought the screws to finish the desk. I will not order from Wayfair because of their poor customer service.
