Review 1 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
It's made out of PLASTIC.

When I ordered this safe, I naively assumed that it was made out of steel like any good safe should be; I was very wrong. It is basically a 150 lb tupperware box with a keypad and a cheap plastic handle on it. Yes, it offers very good fire and water protection, but I really can't see it stopping a burglar that was determined to break it open. And it doesn't look nearly as sleek as the picture does when you see it in real life. I will never again buy a safe that isn't solid steel, and I wouldn't advise anyone else to do so either.

Review 2 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
First Alert Safe arrived on schedule as promised by Walmart and FedEx. Great value for the money! Needed a safe that was both fireproof and waterproof. This First Alert Safe safe fills the bill! The backup "emergency" key is easy to use in case you should happen to lose or forget the combination, or the batteries go dead. Plenty of room for the average person's needs. This safe also has wheels and a folding handle that makes moving the safe to the desired location very easy. The wheels and handle are removable if desired. The safe is heavy and not easily moved without the assistance of the wheels and handle. Walmart had the best price around!

Review 4 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
Like everything about the safe except it doesn't bolt down to the floor. I had to run metal straps over the top and down the sides and secure them to the concrete floor.

Review 6 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
Very impressed with the delivery and all features of the product. Size and compartments are perfect for our needs. While we cannot anchor this to floor/wall, the weight is such that I doubt anyone will attempt to carry this off. Hopefully we will never have an occasion to critique the waterproof and fire proof qualities of the safe.

Review 8 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
If you're looking for a decent fireproof and waterproof safe, I have no reservations about recommending this one. Sure, the exterior and interior is made out of plastic but judging by the weight of it (150 lbs) there must be some very thick metal between these plastic layers. It feels very rigid and solid.
The keypad is programmable for personal codes that range from three to eight digits. A nice benefit that I didn't notice when I ordered it is the inclusion of a clear plastic cover the covers the keypad that lights up the keys whenever it is flipped up, to expose the keypad, or down, to cover the keypad. This allows you to easily open the safe in the dark without the need for a flashlight. Two emergency override keys are provided so you can open the safe if the keypad malfunctions or its batteries die.
The one complaint I would have is that the interior shelves, which are also made out of plastic, are quite flimsy. Don't plan on putting anything somewhat heavy on them or they'll bend into a U-shape. I'm thinking about custom cutting some plywood that will fit in the grooves and replacing them.
Overall, it's a very solid, well constructed safe. It also claims to be fireproof up to 1700 degrees for an hour as well as water proof. Hopefully, I will never find out if that's true or not.

Review 9 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
I purchased this safe for home use to keep a few items. I believe it is too big to carry and cannot be pried open with a hammer and screwdriver like the ones I see on Storage Wars. Those were the two concerns I had with using smaller units. It is not a solid steel safe but I think it is a good value for the price.

Review 12 for First Alert Fireproof/Waterproof Digital Safe
The included removable wheels and handle made getting this safe from my garage, where it was delivered, to my den by myself quite easy. Setup was a snap. Only negative is that I would have liked to know in advance that the safe door needs to be open once a week to reduce the chance of moisture in the safe from molding the stored documents.

Might as well leave the safe on your driveway

I bought this, thinking that it would give me piece of mind knowing that my valuables would be safe from burglars... Never have I been so wrong.
Pros: The whole safe is lubed up with something so it is relatively hard to carry.
Cons: 1. It is incredibly easy to slide on carpet. They can literally just push it out the door. 2. Not made of any metal watch so ever, just plastic... All of it is plastic. 3. Someone can easily just drill into it, or bash their way in with a sledgehammer. 4. No option to bolt to the floor. 5. Feels like it is made from the cheapest plastic China has. It literally feels like a giant toy safe for kids. 6. Leaves EVERYTHING inside smelling like some kind of oil/lubricant mixed with plastic. 7. Did I mention this safe is plastic? 8. Shelves are made of flimsy plastic that bends in when objects are on it. (I have a external hard drive and camera on the shelf, probable about 1 pound total, but it still bends.) 9. Relatively difficult to close.
YOUR BETTER OFF BUYING A DIFFERENT SAFE THAT ACTUALLY WILL PROTECT YOUR BELONGINGS.
Dont let the price fool yah! About $50-$75 more and you can get a much better safe.
HEED MY WARNING MORTALS... Buying this will ensure your own demise.

Spacious, but heavy.

I was shocked by how large it was when I first saw it. The shelves are very difficult to replace once they are removed, so my suggestion is to make careful note of how you remove the shelf as you do it, so you could possibly have an easier time replacing it when needed. The manual which came with the item wasn't very difficult to follow, but you need to read it carefully. This item is very solid and seems as if it will withstand pretty much anything. Regardless, I still hope I will never have to find out whether this is really as fire resistant or burglarproof as claimed.

This is a good product for the home. It can easily be disguised like a piece of furniture for further security. The only problem I see with the safe is the handle is kind of hard to use for people with larger hands or weaker older folks, with poor hand dexterity. Over all it is a well made product.
