Received it promptly, but it was faulty. Press the DVD eject button and the unit would turn off. Finally called Magnavox and sent it back. Don't know yet if they are going to send another one but fine with me if they don't.

Hard to set up

I like the product. I just had it set up by my son-in-law yesterday. Instructions were confusing. Picture is not crisp, but my son-in-law told me that I need to get the cables (green, blue and red?) and that will solve the problem. I recorded on a DVD-R. I have a lot of VHS tapes that I need to record. When you turn off the unit you have to go on standby. I just put pushed stop, but the unit was still on. I'm still learning about the unit. I like it, it does what I wanted to. Still need more time to get comfortable with it.

When I received my DVD recorder, I was excited. Then, I got ready to connect it to my TV. That's when my excitement turned to disappointment! First, I had to hunt through a dozen or so cords I had to get it connected so that it would work. Then, I get it connected and am able to see it on my TV. I set a program just to get an idea of how good it works. That is when my disappointment turned to near-anger. The recorder was NOT the kind of recorder I thought I was getting. With this recorder, you must tune the TV to the specific channel the program you want to record and then you must leave it on that channel. Basically, this is a glorified VCR that uses DVD's rather than Video Tapes. Finally, I just boxed it back up and returned it to my local Wal-Mart store. I had ordered this because I was having problems with the recorder I already had. After fighting with the Magnavox recorder, I decided to reconnect my recorder. I changed ONE cord on my "old" recorder and the problems disappeared. So, if you are looking to replace an existing recorder, DON'T GET THIS ONE!!!!

The product did get to the store exactly when you said it would.
The box was badly damaged. It had a large dent on one side and scratches on other parts of the box, and what looked like water damage.
I was not going to accept it.
I opened the box and found that the product did not appear to be damaged. So I accepted it.
But problems have a way of showing up later. Like after the warranty.
I hope I did not make a big mistake.

I haven't had it but a couple of weeks, so I don't know how it will last, but this was one of the easiest electronic devices I have ever hooked up and used. You don't even have to read to hook it up. Just look at the picture. I recorded from directv recordings and it works great. It's easy, quick and is not expensive.

The set up was pretty much easy. The recording was a little bit confusing but didn't take long to figure out how to start recording.. Overall, for the price it's a pretty good recorder plus you can also record tv programs but you do need a cable box to do so.. I'm satisfied with the product :)

I have recorded several DVD's and am very pleased with the results. The only short comming is the ability to have more space to add a disk title or description. About 20 characters is all that is allowed. I did contact the manufacturer who stated they would make a note of this for consideration in future versions of their DVD recorders.
I would recommend this recorder to anyone.

sorry to say I was disappointed that the recorder had a flaw (glitch), it didn't bring up the main menu, instead there appeared steady sound, and a blank screen....probably a lemon. I went and purchased the unit with the tuner, recommend you do the same

I was so excited to record a concert that night. Got it home, and from a previous person who had reviewed it, thought it would be simple to set up. Not! After 45 mins + we finally figured out that when the power light is OFF, the player/recorder is actually ON!! So we hit record, the record light lit up and we figured it was recording. After 5 hours the concert was over and we tested the DVD. Did NOT record! I returned the machine. Very very disappointed.
