First off you need to break this gun in. The 1st ten shots will sound like a .22 rimfire, that's from the oil coating in the barrel making the pellet go supersonic so don't return it thinking it's too loud. If you shoot the lead free pellets it will sound like a real gun. The lead free's will do 1200+ FPS. This gun is pellet sensitive. Out of 5 shots 3 would be bullseyes and 2 would be flyers all the time. I was going to return the gun until I tried the RWS green tin pellets that Walmart sells online. WOW! Huge difference! This gun is deadly now. All 5 shots now touch @ 15 yards.This is a keeper for sure. I have the factory 4x30 scope on mine and it works just fine. If you take the stock off the rifle you'll see a small slot where the piston spring sits. If you can get something like a long Q Tip that's flexible,coat the inside of the spring tube with white lithium grease.That will give you less friction and more years to your spring. Go around and Loctite every screw because they will work free. This gun packs a powerful punch and will take out small to medium game with one shot. I've killed 4 squirrels with 4 shots. Well worth the money. I'd like to get another.

dont buy this gun buy a crosman fury, the scope that fits this gun's needs costs about $50 so youre wasting money on it, with a corsman fury, youre not wastin g money, same fps and performance with a free scope instead of wasting $50 on one for the Crosman Fury

I have spent countless hours and nearly 300 rounds trying to sight this gun in. The plastic sights are so flawed they can not even be adjusted.
I have used a variety of pellets. It does not hold a tight pattern and is all over the place even with a high powered scope and trying to sight it in using a shooters table.
I will be taking full advantage of the one-year warranty and would prefer my money back???

Hey, it's a pellet gun. Got it for "The Boy" and it has worked as expected. Sturdy build, accurate, easy to use and sends those pellets down range. Much better than many of the BB/Pellet guns out there these days.

The Crosman Phantom can not even be compared to the Gamo equivalent. I have a Gamo Silent Cat and it is head and shoulders above the Phantom in every respect. This rifle is not well balanced and not even properly sized for a full grown adult. In the power side it is ok but even the use of the open sights is not easy due to wide size of the front sight. The operation of the break barrel is also rough and "unpolished". The Gamo is such a smooth operator that makes the Phantom feel rudimentary.

This is a great air rifle. It's very powerful and i love everything about it. The only thing i don't like is how loud it is. I haven't been able to shoot it in my backyard because of how loud it is. Other than that, it's great. Does anyone know where i can purchase a good muzzle brake or suppressor(legal) for it?

My only problem has been with the rear sight it seems to be spring loaded and at times can get caught and end up at a side to side diagonal, which once you notice it if you psh down on it a couple of times you'll see when it lines up correctly. Besides that it is very accurate and very powerful for what it is and the price it comes at!

Love the fact of great power and accuracy with a single pump of breaking barrel rather than hassle and cost of CO2. I’ve been getting grouping of 3” at 50+ ft with factory sights. Front site of fiber optic makes acquisition easy but wish rear was metal instead of plastic. All in all, a great value for plinking and stress relief.

It is a little loud but the instructions say it take about 100 firings to break in. Very powerful pellet gun. Not recommended for kids. Adult use advised.

Immediately fired this air gun and it fires high and to the right. Also, had a scratch mark on the barrel on purchase. By the time I ordered and my Walmart received the item it was approximately 3 weeks. Far past the original delivery date.

After getting the sights adjusted to my liking, I can drop a groundhog @ 50 yards. Being just a .177 caliber, I am amazed at the stopping power of this reasonably priced gun. The break barrel allows for just one open and close to be ready for your next shot, you get full power without multiple pumping. The normal Crosman lead pellets are enough for my 3 acre yard @ 1000 fps. To get 1200 fps you need the expensive non lead pellets, as with most any other pellet rifle out there. One more thing , Walmart has the best price on the pellets so far.

For 80.00 you can't get a better break barrel rifle. I saved over 100 dollars buying this rifle than if I were to get one from any other one that can shoot up to 1200 fps.
It's great for small game hunting. If your gonna hunt squirrels, birds , chipmunks, cottontails (in season of course), or small jackrabbits don't waste your money on raptors. On the animals I just said regular pointed pellets and raptors do the exact same thing. If you get a headshot the rabbits will drop right away, If you want them to stop moving or make sure they're dead it might take a few more shots but with cheaps pellets hey you're not gonna break the bank. If you get a center mass vital shot then they could drop or they might run for a couple yards then drop. Again to finish it off it might take another shot or two.
With big jackrabbits you can kill em' at with lead pellets going 1000 fps but, at least from what i've discovered it takes 5 or six center mass shots to take them down. But if you can get headshots i'm sure that you can get away with lead pellets. So if you're going for big jackrabbits, lead free pelllets you can shoot 1200 fps will get the cleanest and quickest kill.
From what I've seen if you're gonna eat the game you shoot, this pellet gun is great it'll get a clean kill with out ruining half as much meat as, if say you shot a rabbit center mass with a .22.

I ordered the rifle online and it is a must have! The price is great and shipping was fast. I actually did some research and found out that if you order the rifle and center point ar22 4x32 scope seperately you can save a few dollars. ;) I got the scope a few days after the rifle and after sighting it in I have shot about 150 rounds through the rifle and have had no problems with the scope. The only thing I would change is the trigger reach. It seems to be very long and wants pull your hand off the stock grip to reach the trigger. But I have short fingers. Get the one with the scope if you can and save unless you have scope and mounts. Easy to load break barrel, good sights and stock. A little less reach on the trigger and it's Five stars.

at the price you can't beat this rifle. would like to see better iron sights but you're gonna want a scope anyway. stock has a good feel and soft butt pad is nice, it has a surprising recoil for an air rifle. adjustable trigger is nice since the 2nd stage was stiff for my liking. great accuracy and precision when broken in, nice stopping power with Crosman Destroyer Ex's
