Sauder Computer Desk With Hutch, Dark Alder

Before buying this desk from Walmart.com I watched it for awhile. I read the reviews. After reading the reviews I still wasn't certain because there was such a mixed bag of results. So I watched it awhile longer. Finally I decided to chance it because the price worked for me and the desk I had at my office wasn't comfortable for me.
I took this desk to my office to put together. My office has 2 rooms (both small). I put this desk together by myself, using the top of my current desk as a working surface, in a reasonable amount of time. I found the pictures of the pieces to be a big help. The one thing that surprised me was how solid and big the two top drawers are. This desk is set up perfectly for the things I need to do for my job. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I needed one. I would also recommend it to anyone that thought the setup was what they wanted.

After putting the headboard together, I was a little worried about the matching desk, but it proved to be otherwise! It's very sturdy and is exactly as I expected. My only complaints are that there are a few minor scratches, and I wish that the actual desktop was slightly bigger.

I assembled this myself in one evening. It took 3 or 4 hours, but that included disassembling and reassembling the computer. I am experienced at do-it-yourself furniture, so I did not find it very difficult to put together. It took a little longer than other furniture I've done, but mostly because there were more parts with the drawers, shelves, keyboard shelf, etc. The most difficult part was making sure the cam screws were tightened properly. Some of them were difficult to turn to the full "210 degrees." Also, the tack guides for the drawers kept bending when I tried to hammer them in. I'm going to call and ask for replacement parts. The end product is an attractive, useful desk. The only problem I have with it is that, because of where I have the desk, a bit of the back edge--the ugly particle board--is visible. I'll have to figure out how to disguise that. Also, I would have liked other wood finish options. Normally, I like the dark wood look, but the desk is in a room with wood paneling, so a lighter (birch or bamboo) finish would have been nice.

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this product. There were a few that almost made me go somewhere else, but I really liked this desk and it had all the features I needed, as well as a matching woodtone color for the rest of my decor.
Extremely glad that I didn't go anywhere else, I dont' think I would have been as satisfied had I "settled" for something less.
I would recommend this product to other shoppers as well as any friends/family who would be looking for one.

I read the reviews about product being damaged in shipping. I took a chance anyway. Took product out of box and BOARD CRACKED! It's a great looking desk but they need to do something about how they ship. Board A is a short board taking all the weight and sure enough it was cracked all the way across in several places. Replacement part was easy to get though but hate having to wait longer now. Would be better if french and spanish instructions were completely separate from the english instructions. Don't like the cardboard back to put on it but overall great looking desk for the price.

This product comes in a million pieces.. it looks very nice when you get it done.. but it's made very cheap.. you lock the boards together so basically when the lock comes undone to whole desk comes apart..

My girlfriend needed a desk that didnt cost much. I had done some research on choosing one from Walmart and of course I chose this one. Overall the desk was made with more quality than I expected and its appearane isnt cheap.

After 4 hours of labor and trying to assemble this very heavy desk by myself, I stood up the unit (per the instructions) and watched it collapse and break. The brackets were all tightened but they ripped out of the desk. The many screws and bolts were not worth the effort. Now this may be a total loss. Would recommend assembling with at least two people.

The product is simply average. It took too long to build and the instructions were not very clear. The material that it is made of is very cheap an I would guess that if it ever gets wet, it will be ruined forever. The hutch has a very large scratch which I noticed upon unpacking it.
