Philips 52" Full HD 1080P LCD HDTV with Built-in Tuner, 52PFL3603D/27

Arrived on time, ship-to-store worked flawlessly. Was interesting getting the 118 pound box up the stairs, but my wife and I managed. With amplified rabbit ears, was able to "register" 14 analog and 15 digital stations (pre-DTV transition on 1/23/2009). Many of the analog signals (most of which are ~60 miles away) are poor, but the digital ones, when there, are stable and gorgeous. With such weak field strengths, however, there is no single place where all the digital channels come in. Moreover, for those not detected by the set upon installation, it is very tricky to find them, as one must set the TV to the "real" digital channel, not the one advertised. For example. PBS is analog channel 30, and its digital signal is very weak. To force the TV to tune it, you have to know that the digital signal is actually on channel 21, and set the TV to 21 while messing around with the antenna until you find the "good spot". Then, once registered, it assigns the digital channel to 30.1 as it is supposed to do. This process can be quite confusing, but I suspect it is normal for all such HDTV sets, so it is just a peeve, not a comparative demerit.

The set runs a bit warm to the touch, and its speakers (the 3603 has only the 20 watt option) are a bit tinny, but one can connect larger speakers and they sound fine.

With the picture formatting on "Automatic" the set sometimes changes its mind about the desired stretching in the middle of a movie or show, but it's not very annoying, and one can always choose a particular format when will remain stable.

Color rendition is good, plenty of brightness even in a sun-splashed living room.

All in all, a good set and a good bargain at $1750.

This TV is amazing. I love the picture and sound quality. For this price of a 52 inch you can't go wrong. We love it.

I was excited abot getting this tv home since it was a great price. However when I did get it home, I realized this tv had no audio output for my surround sound system. I tried running it through my tuner but there is no way to turn off the speakers on the tv. I figured it wasn't THAT big of a issue but the HDMI inputs didn't work either. I called Philips customer service and they told me it was my cable box when my old tv was hooked up HDMI and working fine. Overall, not happy. Retured it and got a Sony Bravia for the same price, VERY happy now.

This television is the one to buy. We first tried a Sanyo (save money) and was displeased. Returned it and chose this product. We are very pleased with this TV. Has all necessary features, easy setup, very good picture. We have had it about a month now with no issues. We can not think of one flaw or con.

My wife got this for me and it's a beautiful piece of hardware. There's plenty of component cables of all for your gadgets. Speakers sound amazing. My only complaint is there's not audio out component, therefore I couldn't use my surrond sound with out having to split all of the sound cables. Other than that, it's perfect.

When I finally decided that it was time to go Hi-Def, I wanted the biggest baddest HDTV they had at the store. When shopping I was apprehensive about getting this one because in the store the picture looked good but other HDTVs costing alot less looked as good and one looked better but it was 720p and I wanted 1080p. I couldn't be happier about my purchase. Got it home and turned it on and it was a breeze to setup. No fine tuning just simple on screen prompts and BAM.........TV HEAVEN. Would have liked a VGA hookup for PC but there isn't one so I guess it's time to get a better video card with DVI or HDMI output. From broadcast HD channels to Xbox to DVD movies the picture is awesome.
