The sound was exceptional, and had very easy to follow instructions to install. Our problem was that it only did surround sound for its DVD. It does not do surround sound for the TV. So even though it was excellent in its features, it did not meet our needs. Ended up purchasing a receiver and speakers which are okay, but not as good sound as this system.

I bought this unit on Friday evening at Wal-Mart, went home and hooked it up. Everything worked fine. The sound was good, though I could never get enough volume from the rear speakers. I'd like to have had more time to experiment with different disks.
I had hooked up my satellite receiver to the home theatre through the optical audio cable. On Sunday evening, suddenly I had no sound while watching TV, but all was still well when watching a DVD.
Through some troubleshooting, I determined the problem was not in the optical cable or the satellite receiver. I called Samsung and they walked me through a reset of the system, but still no sound on the "digital-in" input. They admit it looks like the optical input has failed.
Will be taking this back tomorrow, probably for an exchange for another model, maybe for a refund.

I thought I was getting an HD system when I purchased the bundle, consisting of this CD player along with an HD TV. It turned out, after renting an HD movie, the CD player would not play HD Discs. I returned the bundle for refund. The unit is probably OK, if you do not want High Def.

The system is really good for the price. Approx 275. It works well in 5.1 surround sound, and the woofer could be a little more powerful. If you look for a good system for the money, this is it.

The sound that comes out of this system is absolutely incredible. When I hooked up my system, I noticed the subwoofer wasn't working, so I called Samsung customer support. I had to do a couple of tests and found that I received a defective subwoofer, so Sumsung promtly sent me a brand new replacement without any hassle what so ever. Now that's customer service. Worth every penny!

I paid $274.95 for mine in Oct. 2007 and it worked great then and works great now. The only reason I only gave 3 stars on value for the money is because its one hundred dollars cheaper now! It is especially good for action movies like Die hard or Band of Brothers. The color is wonderful and I am very satisfied so far.
