This camera is definitely a good buy. A bit pricey but at the moment is well worth it. The options aren't entirely intuitive and the manual is somewhat lacking as well, but the video quality rocks. Quick Tip: To Finalize a disc you need to change your mode first. Otherwise you won't see the Finalize option. The manual doesn't tell you this, it just tells you to select Finalize.

Love the camera, but having a really hard time getting the software to work. Make sure you can complete the registration all at one time. My computer froze up and now I can't finish registration.

This camcorder is an amazing product! I got it because Canon is a great product name and I had read several other good reviews. We purchased it to record my husband's bull rides and it is perfect. It has amazing zooming capabilities, the sound is wonderful, and the editing is really great. I prefer to use the DVD-RW because you can erase them and reuse them (after using the included software to save it to your computer). It also plugs directly into the television for convenient viewing! Definitely a great product for the price. I had a few questions about operating it, I went to canon's website and got the answers I needed within 24 hours. I definitely recommend this product!!

Somewhat complicated but OK

The camera is somewhat complicated to use, but after persistent trial and error things seemed OK. If you decide to by re-recordable DVD's, please make sure to purchase the DVD's that are "-RW DVD" rather than "+RW DVD". There is a difference and Canon advised me the +RW DVD's are not compatible with this camera. I was disappointed with this because the Walmart add suggested to purchase these items in addition to the camera (I did so), but they were not the correct type of DVD's. I had to buy the other type and pay additional money to get the DVD's that are compatible. Unfortunately, the sealed package of ten DVD's was opened, and I doubt returnable because of the packaging being opened. The camera is decent for the price though.
