I live in in 50+ yo house. I used to wake up nauseated, and my family exhibited chronic coughing. Within an hour, we discerned a marked decrease in respiratory distress.l Now, I have one in each bedroom, and in the family room. Noise? Certainly better than us all hacking non stop at night! BTW, don't let the HEPA filters clog! The carbon filters function quite well as "pre-filters," extending the main HEPA filters' life, and reducing the maintenance cost from $80 a month to $12!

The True Hepa Filter by Holmes is great. It is fairly quiet and easy to operate. We keep it on the floor. There are 4 speeds and it is very easy to replace the filters. I bought it to reduce odors and it really helps. I would definitely recommmend it to others.

I've had 2 of these for year to two years, if not longer......and they work well; I have the larger version of it as well; and have been happy. Only negative is noise....we don't mind the noise, but when it gets to rattling....that pushes me over....sometimes have to take one of them down to a 3 to stop the rattle.....but still....good.

My boyfriend and I got this because he was a little allergic to my cat, along with spring allergies, along with New York's dusty apartments. He was sneezing over and over again, until we got this product. Now there is just the gentle hum of clean air. Level 4 can be a bit noisy...but Level 2 works just fine. We've yet to see how much energy it uses.

I purchased this after having tried everything to help my 3 year old son's allergies. I put this right in his room but was a little suprised at how big it was! It seems to be helping out quite a bit and I keep it running all day long..seems pretty quiet and gives just the right amount of white noise which helps him sleep as well! So far so good, hopefully it will continue to do it's job at getting all the allergens out of the air! Planning on buying another after having this a little longer!

I bought two of these air purifiers in the past two weeks in the store and absolutely love them! I have three pets, a lot of carpeting and allergies in our family. This has helped with symptoms and giving us much cleaner air in our bedrooms. It has a nice hum that lulls you to sleep and can be set at four different levels. The filters are not extremely expensive and need to be changed about once a year according to the manual. I leave them on all the time and so far am very pleased with them.

I bought this product 3 months ago after discovering that my daughter has become allergic to our cats. The difference in the quality of the air is amazing. I put it in her bedroom and could tell the difference in the air within an hour. The only way to describe it is the air felt smoother and much easier to breath. It was very obvious that not only the did it remove the cat dander and reduce her reaction to the cats but the dust it removed from the air was remarkable. Great product. Plan to buy another one for the living room.

You will fall in love with this this the first time you use it but as soon as you have to replace the filters for the first time you mine as well be buying a brand new unit. This unit requires 2 filters each which are around 20 bucks a piece but you can by a 2 pk for about 34 bucks then on top of that you will need the carbon filters that come in a box of 4 they are 10 bucks. Point being you are better off buying a unit with a permanent washable filter. This thing is a money trap if you want you use it all year round.

This is our second unit, this one for the living room - pleasantly surprized at the volume of air it moves, even on setting #2 of 4. I was able to set it on the floor, and it's upward angled vents lift the air circulation up and over all the furniture - you get the benefit of a gentle breeze sitting on the couch on the opposite side of the room. Lowest setting is pretty quiet, too. Seems to be doing a decent job, despite lots of pets (hair, dander) in our home.

We have noticed a huge improvement in our allergies since we bought this hepa filter about a year and a half ago. It is durable we have not had a problem with it. The only thing I don't like is that it is really loud, I keep it on level 1 most of the time i will turn it to 4 if we are leaving the house for a while so it can filter like its supposed to but when we are home we can not tolerate the noise. Overall it is a good filter though.

I purchased this product 2 weeks a go (11th Mar.) and it definitely helps with allergies, house dust etc. I have 2 house cats and the fur get caught in filter, definitely cleans the air. there is less dust particles floating air. I highly recommend this products where there are allergies of any kind and house pets. Any Holmes product I would buy before any other from now on, I have tried the Ionic Pro an others , but nothing compares to Holmes for the price, its a very good investment. and for chldrens rooms, I would get the mini Holmes purifier for clean air and germ killing.

I bought this earlier this month. I bought it based on the reviews. I am very pleased with so far. I keep it on 3 all the time. I haven't turned it off since i bought it. It's not so quiet. We have had our product for about 6 months now. It is plugged in at all times, but not always on. I noticed the other day that the top had a dark spot on it- as I looked closer- I noticed that it was getting hot and the outside plastic was melting. Apparently something inside is shorting out. It seemed to work fine - until I noticed it getting hot. I tired to upload a picture- but it said it was unable to becasue the photo was too large- not sure why.

We purchased this air cleaner because of ongoing problems with sore throats, sneezing, etc. After only one day, we noticed how much less dust there was on surfaces in our bedroom. After three days, we were breathing SO much better. And, when the sun shone in the room, no dust particles floating around. The unit is much quieter than most others, and when we set it on "1" while sleeping, is almost not audible. I like that you can set it against a wall, with the air intake in front and output on the top. Alternatively, you can set it so that the output comes out the side. I know the filters will cost plenty, but that's pretty much true with all air cleaners. So far, we think this is a great product.
