It features full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 plus a tuner that receives both ATSC digital channels and NTSC analog channels. The digital tuner has Digital Clear QAM technology so it can receive unscrambled digital cable channels. A full complement of video inputs, including HDMI, and audio outputs are provided. And the detachable pedestal base stand allows it to be wall-mounted with an optional wall-mount kit (not included). Note: You must have a source of HD programming in order to take full advantage of an HDTV. Otherwise, the picture quality of an HDTV without an HD source may not be much better than that of a standard-definition TV. Please contact your local cable or satellite TV provider for details on how to upgrade to HD programming.

Everything worked well with the set up till we plugged in the HDMI cables. We have a ps3 and a cable box that were both hooked with HD and with both the screen would go blank and we lost audio when the channel changed or when we started up a game. The only way to fix this was to turn off the set and then turn it back on. We had the set for 2 weeks trying to figure out what we did wrong then decided to try customer support. 10 minutes later the customer support guy told us to return the set to walmart. We exchanged the set for the DP42849 model which is the same set, just newer...works great so far. Audio seems better and the screen is awesome, better than in the store. Overall good product.

after having to return the first tv because there was no color blue in one of the component video inputs, i am very satisfied with this tv. i would have preferred an optical audio output, but most of my viewing is of dvds and my surround sound system handles my audio needs. i do recommend this tv.

ive purchase this tv over a two month period and i must say iam not disapointed by the product at all when i bought the hdmi cords and pluged it in to my 360 i was amazed at the clarity in full 1080p and my blu-ray player show a great pictue this is good tv for the price and no dead pixel on this at all i dont have cable so i cant speak for that but i do watch basic tv and netflix with crystal clear picture highly recommmend

bought my tv online and when I recieved it, it looked great but when i plugged it in had sound but no picture. no menu come up on the screen, I returning it in a couple of days and going to get another 42 inch. The company said it probably got dropped on the way here. those things happen

The T.V. was shipped to my door. It came when the UPS tracking system said it would be here. The box was not damaged in any way. I opened the box and the T.V. was bigger than expected and it was easy to set up. over all i love my T.V. and the services of walmart.com and the UPS system. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a nice sized T.V. not too big not too small with good picture and sound quality and the price was a great value compared to other places.

I have been researching and looking at HD LCD TV's for a good while. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a TV that is much cheaper in a year, so I had decided to get a 32-37 inch lcd 720p because the 1080p's were more expensive. I thought that I might come across a display maybe, at a good price. I was at the Cody, WY Wal-Mart a month or so ago, and they had this Sanyo 42 inch, 1080p lcd display at a great price, and I couldn't pass it up! It is quite impressive with great connectivity! I have seen reviews saying that it is an "entry level" HD TV...that may be true, but after using a 220 pound analog TV I am living large! I DID get the extended warranty (which I don't usually get on products) to protect my investment. I have also added the Phillips 1000 watt 1080 upconverting 1080p DVD system, which even makes the Sanyo TV better! For the money, and with good luck with Sanyo products so far, I am extremely happy with my TV! I will keep you posted. Thanks!

I have an xbox 360 and I was able to use 1080i but not 1080p when I called Sanyo they said that this TV is unable to display in 1080p using the xbox 360 and the PS3 they can only display in 1080i. Well I purchased this product assuming that it displayed in 1080p because it says it on the TV and on the box, but apparently the TV is 1080i not 1080p according to Sanyo. Don't believe call them yourself and or do a google search on this TV using the model number DP42828. The 1080i still looks good but if I wanted 1080 i I would have purchased a cheaper TV.

Ok, I'm a cable guy by trade. This TV is perfect for the family that wants a nice product for a small price and not many headaches. The menu is simple to use and the picture is great. HD is recommended . If you have an HDTV and you are receiving a "digital signal" like a regular digital box. The picture will look like a messy painting up close. From 20ft away, its not bad but I definately recommend that you call the cable company and upgrade to High Def or you won't be impressed with the picture at all.
Otherwise, this thing has been great. Sanyo's factory is 5 miles away so it was nice to put back into the local economy as well.

Was NOT happy with this purchase, ended up returning the TV.
The on-screen features were poor or very limited options. Had a grainy picture during moving and non-moving viewing. Like mentioned this is an ENTRY level TV. This TV did not meet my quality demands both the remote and the TV viewing.
FYI - If you are NEW to the HD world it is required that your cable/Satelite provider run a complete NEW line to the location of your HD TV. As the old standard cable used in many of the homes isn't heavy enough to handle the signal used for HD.

We purchased this TV just because we desperatly needed a new one, and I did research before I bought this one. Thank you to everyone who wrote reviews because they were very helpful. The picture quality was hard to set up on some of the channels while other ones look excellent. The sound quality is great. My Husband is loosing his hearing and would always turn the old TV all the way up and still complain he couldn't hear it, now we don't even have it half way up. All in all great product for the price.

We purchased this TV after choosing this over a Phillips. This was the worst decision. We have been trying to return it for a Phillips, but we can not find a local store that has this in stock. The HD channels were worse on the HD channels then the regular channels are on my non HD tv. Settings were changed from the factory mode. Just a worthless TV.

I researched carefully all your reviews on LCD TV's (LCD appears to be slightly better than Plasma for what I've learned). I searched for "in stock" LCD TVs and then went to my local Super WalMart to see the actual product. I stood before their many operating TV displays for a long time, viewed and compaired the picture qualities and finally chose the one I felt was the best size with the best picture for my personal needs and that was the Sanyo 42" DP42848. Because of the reviews here I felt it best to spend the extra money for the 2 year warranty. I now have 3 years but hope I don't have to use it! I got the television home and it was the perfect size for my small living room. I did have problems connecting it to my outdated (but even after several years, excellent VCR/DVD combo) GO VCR/DVD and Direct TV Satalite box. After a great deal of trial and error I finally got it all connected and I couldn't be happier. Works like a charm thanks to the Sanyo & Direct TV websites AND my neighbor.
At this time I would highly recommend the Sanyo LCD DP42848. Great picture and sound not to mention (but will) the GREAT price! I always felt that if you got a good deal from Walmart you're getting what you paid for which could be of low quality but in this case, I feel, at this time (just bought the TV today) I'm getting a high quality product at a bargain price. Thank you Walmart!
