You can eliminate those whining noises with the Scosche Ground Loop Isolator.

The unit stomped out ignition noise between my Sirius Starmate and a HON-AUX98 adapter. The cable genders were reverse of what I needed, but I was able to address that readily enough with adapters. It matters which way you hook it up, so pay attention to the INPUT and OUTPUT markers - if you hook it up in reverse, it does not work.
