What a great little oven ! I put it on top of our wood stove and bake beans, cook spare ribs, pot roasts, etc. in it all winter while the stove heats the house up here in Maine.

Bought this oven for our camping trip last weekend. It sets up quickly and is easy to use. There is just something special about baking brownies on our camping trips that brings a smile to our faces and envy from other campers who have to smell them baking.
The oven is easier and faster than using a Dutch oven. Foods seem to cook a little faster than what the package says.

Packs away nice and flat maybe 3 inches in the box. It's not your home kitchen oven where you turn on and walk away you will have to sit by it and regulate temp. yourself. I put foil on the top to insulate it better. wish there were 2 racks but only get 1. I used it for cookies and muffins. After playing with the heat by controlling stove flame food was great. It just gives you more options while camping. It's worth it and also keeps you warm as you cook :)

Works Great

I ordered this hoping it would do well on top of my wood burning heater. It is everything I was hoping for. I can set it on top of the wood stove and in a few minutes it will be up to about 300°. I can then adjust the flue damper and air intake to bring the temp on up to whatever I need to bake chicken or bread, biscuits or beans. Whatever I can bake in the propane oven, I can bake in this one. Once set, it will hold the temperature steady as long as I don't let the stove run low on wood. Saves me a bunch on the propane bill. At least in the winter. Maybe this summer I will set up a wood stove outside and continue to use it in warm weather too.

Took it with us to the Wind Rivers area in Wyoming. What fun - we had fresh baked home made cookies every evening that took the chill off while we sat in awe of the surrounding beauty! Easy to assemble and disassemble. Brought along some square aluminum pans that fit right in. Can't wait till next summer, it'll always be part of our camping gear.

This was the ULTIMATE piece of camping equipment we have bought. It baked up perfect biscuits, rolls. Who would have thought we could bake while camping?? With this we could and it was sooooo cheap!! It takes up barely any room too when collapsed and fits over the camp stove burner perfectly.

My parents used this same oven when we were kids camping. Glad to see nothing has changed, but why mess with perfection? Bakes great bisquits..I even finished off a pan of fried chicken in it (steamed to make sure the thick pieces were done)...fell off the bone.

Excellent for camping!!

We went camping with a group of people, and we had a Thanksgiving Day dinner planned. I made the stuffing, and this was excellent to heat up the stuffing. Also, our son is a picky eater, and it was great for cooking corn dogs, etc, in it for him. I HIGHLY recommend this oven. Also, WalMart was the least expensive store for this product. Even though we had to pay to have it shipped overnight, it still ended up being the least expensive place to buy it.

Excellent product - gave it a tryout at home before using 'in the field' - bisquits came out just great - folds down into very packable package - seems to hold heat well - must 'babysit' it to maintain correct temperature -

Cooking was so much easier this camping trip. We were able to cook casseroles, biscuits and more. Oven heated quickly and maintained heat even though it was 37 degrees outside. Fit on one burner so we could still make hot chocolate on the other... best item I have purchased in a long time!

Review 19 for Coleman Portable Camp Oven
Great inexpensive outdoor oven

This product from Colman has a long history.
We used them when I was growing up in the Boy Scouts, they were the same then as now.
Now at age 54 use one almost exclusivly because I am a Semi-Retired RV work camper.
Do not like to heat up RV and do most all cooking outside.
Much nicer to use than dutch oven and charcoal.
Just the right size for 1-2 person meals.
Spanish, rice and pork
Spanish Chicken
Peach cobbler
and many other fine foods come out of this simple oven.
One sugestion, use a propane turkey fryer burner under it. A small camp stove is not quite hot enough if there is any wind.

Its great to be able to cook bread, muffins, cookies, sweet rolls, etc at the campsite - folds up nice and flat, only wish it had a nylon bag to store. Good value for the price - its great to be able to bake (or keep warm other foods, like pancakes or barbecue) and have the fresh bread or cookies to look forward to.
Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Great Wal-Mart price.
