No doubt this is a great camcorder BUT whats up with the picture quaility when using the camera>? IS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THE SAME? I took pictures both outside( windy day/ and sunny) and inside and its a hit or miss whether they print out or transfer on blurry or not. So overall my experience with the camera part is horrible.

This camera is really easy to use. It is light weight, so you do not tire so easily while filming. I used it during my daughter's high school graduation. I had to sit in the upper tier of the stadium and was able to zoom in perfectly.

I bought my Handycam after a friend got one for Christmas. It is super-easy to use, and you can download your videos to your computer with the USB cord included. You can record videos to memory stick or DVD. You get more record time with the memory stick. Photos can only be recorded to the memory stick. I ordered DVDs at the same time as my camera. They shipped separately, and I got the camera first.

Overall, I like the product. I wish the mini dvds had a longer amount of taping time. We seem to go through them quickly. Also, when I play it back on our tv, it isn't as clear as I had hoped. The tv is new so I need to do some investigating to see if I can change a setting to see if this would help with clarity. I haven't printed out any pictures, but they also seem to lack a little clarity as compared to my digital camera. However, it is lightweight, easy to carry, fairly easy to use and I have some great memories so far.

I wanted an easy to use, quick start camcorder that I could also use to take still photos with. This was perfect! I easily started shooting as soon as I charged the battery and put in the dvd. I definitely would recommend. The pictures are clear, it is easy to use, pictures/video of my young son are wonderful for the memories that I wanted to capture.

Sony has done it again with this camcorder. I researched camcorders for a while before making this selection and I am very pleased. I am so happy to be able to catch the memories of my children and my family.

Included 2 discs one of which helps you learn the proper way to use the camcorder to get great video, also explains a few of the features
Records straight to the DVD and can be played in most DVD Players, computers and of course the camcorder.
Included USB, TV cord, and battery charger. I also purchased the starter kit with carrying case, 2 dvds, and extra battery.
**And probably my favorite is the fact that you can choose what quality you want like standard, high or low, and depending on which you use, you will have more recording time.
Keeps you informed of battery life and how many minutes used and how many are left.
Also records in sepia, negative, and a few others.

I was a little disappointed that it didn't have a light included. Room should be well-lit when taking pictures or videos. However does have a night-vision sort of thing that adjusts the picture a little for better viewing.

A little confusing for the first few uses. Get some practice in before heading out for the real stuff =)
Will need to purchase a PRO DUO (only!) memory stick / card if you plan on taking any pictures.

Not what I thought it would be

I was expecting something much different. I only bought it because my small digital camera does not have high quality video for TV viewing. It seems that once you finalize a disc and remove it, you cannot undo the finalizing process so the disc cannot be reused. (I tried and it kept saying that the function was not available.) Also, there is no internal memory. I thought there would be for some reason, but I guess it's not a feature with the 610 model ... only the 710 and 810, I believe. I read (on a different website) that you can't record video to the memory stick with this model either ... only still images. For this reason, I hesitate to even buy one since I will use my other digital camera for taking stills. I read the manual, but some of the features it instructs about do not seem to be available. (I.e., the internal memory setting option & the undo disc finalization.) I guess the manufacturer uses the same instructions for all three models and this one has the least functions actually available. I don't think I can return it to the store since it is an electronic item or I would do so in a heartbeat. I'd upgrade to something that has more features and INTERNAL memory if I could return this one. For the record, I am VERY computer literate and have been using my other digital video camera for years to create both TV and web viewing productions, so it's not that I am a total novice at using something like this. Just totally disappointed in myself for not researching it better. Impulse buying will get you every time.

This is a great camera. Mine came with a carrying case, dvds,and disc holder. I could use it right out of the box. It was super light which is good. Make sure you buy the memory stick.

We have really liked this camera. It is easy to use and has produced good quality images. I recommend using the memory stick. You can store more. I got a 4g card and it seems to be good enough. I also like that it is so small and compact.

Very user friendly!! I'm no electronics wiz but I opened up the box, charged the camera and started using it! Mainly I wanted a video camera that would record onto a mini dvd that I could pop into DVD player and watch easily. No annoying adapter needed or weird cassette thing. Tip- You have to finalize the mini DVD on the handi-cam before you are able to play it in a DVD player.. this means no more erasing and rerecording after finalizing it. Quality excellent and so is sound. I shopped around and found Walmart had the best price tag- also purchase the soft case for handi-cam. The handi-cam is so small, fits snuggly in one hand. LOVE IT!!

I dont usually write reviews but I feel this video camera is great. I was worried because the cost was lower then alot but Sony has done it again. Do know that you need video discs to record video and then if you want to take pictures you need to purchase a memory stick. I didnt because only using for video. Very easy to setup and use. I also love that when you take a video it shows it on the screen and you can touch the one you want instead of fast forwarding forever. One downfall that I can live with is the battery does not last very long but long enough to do what you need . Great quality if your looking for simple and easy to use !! Great buy !
