I just moved back to Wisconsin from Texas towards the end of Janurary, into a new apartment (heat included.) I have suffered from dry sinisus and mild nose bleeds until I obtained the Holmes Cool Mist Humidifier. My sister also had problems with her sinisus when she would come over to visit due to the dry heat. My apartment (no MY Home) is now humid and my nose has never been better. It's variable settings, allows me to control the amount of moisture in my home, it is virtualy noiseless and low maintenance and it's 24 hour run time per fill is great! I highly recommend the Holmes Cool Mist Humidifier!

Our eye doctor said we should get a humidifier and this one seems to do the trick. We are amazed at how much water it needs to add to our home. It is very easy to use, but we are going through filters very quickly. We are going to try using the water additives and other options to try to increase the filter life.

I own a 2900 square foot home that gets very dry in the winter. I searched many places to find a large capacity humidifer with large enough tanks that don't require daily filling and is easy to maintain. The HM-3500 fits my needs nicely. The base has wheels so its easy to move when cleaning. It has two tanks that each hold about 2.5 gallons plus the base holds 2.5 gallons. One fill usually humidifies the house at 65% RH for 4 to 5 days. It comes appart easily for cleaning and is quiet on low and med speeds. (High is a bit noisy). The microban filter eliminates bacteria that causes the fish tank smells that usually occur with other humidifiers. I also use the anti-microbal additive to be sure. Filters are available everywhere and are inexpensive. The plastic base is light weight and easily rinsed off in the shower when cleaning. The only drawback I have found with the HM-3500 is the tank handles are not ergonomicly designed. They are difficult to grip when wet after filling, so you need to cradle the tanks when carrying them to the humidifier to prevent dropping.

After much research we ordered this humidifier. Humidifier arrived expeditiously. Easy set up. Works great! We live in the desert and our house is so dry. We now sleep much better with the humidifier running. We use the medium setting for when we sleep and the high setting during the day. Definitely recommend this humidifier.

My mother bought this product for my 3 month old daughter. I set it up in my daughter's room one night and her breathing was still questionable. My husband and I were in our room on the other side of the house and it made him stop snoring. It also cleared away my fever and cold symptoms. We both felt fully rested and we never felt better. The challenge is finding a product that will help our daughter.

I would recommend this humidifer to all. It has different fan speeds that allow you to set it the way that is best for your home. It also will kick on and off when your room is at your recommended setting. I just love the rollers the unit sits on, making it easy to move from room to room. Very easy to fill water tanks. More than meets expectations for functionally and quality. The only minor negative is the design of the water tanks. They are slippery to hold while filling and the slightly rounded tops require you to hold the tank while filling. The weight of the tanks when full makes lifting a chore for a frail person.

Was not all that happy with it. Made way too much noise on the max setting. Very big unit, and the tanks are a pain to fill because there are two and they are installed upside down. Also makes a really anoying noise every 10 minutes when the water drains into the bottom tank. Returned the item.

Our home is modest in size but designed with an open concept (balcony overhangs living/dining rooms). Because of this we decided to humidify the downstairs separately using this unit and purchase a smaller one for our upstairs bedroom. The Holmes HM3500 operates at a very quiet level that you can have running at a moderate speed and still converse and watch TV. We turn it to full/high when we go to bed. We found filling the two water tanks can be done at the kitchen sink, but fills much faster if we carry them into the downstairs bathtub. Filling has to be done once a day. The numbers we see on our downstairs temperature/humidity gauge don't appear to have increased much, but we can tell it's working when we pet our two golden retrievers now and don't get the electrical static we were getting before!!!!

It easily maintains a desired level of humidity in the 1,000-square-foot upper floor of my home, and the noise level is very tolerable. Plus, the water containers need to be filled only every couple of days when the outdoor temperatures are frigid and dry. I'm delighted that I found such an excellent machine for so little money.

We bought this prduct in Jan. 2008 and so far it has met its exputations. Its quiet, does just what it is suppose to do. We haven't had any problem with it so far. Finding a filter might be a problem I don't want to have to order one from the factory and have to pay a shipping fee. This humidifier does my whole house, a large two-story with three bedrooms. I placed it downstairs between my dining and living rooms. It seems a little loud on the high setting, so I run it on medium and we have no problems hearing the TV or having conversations. It has really helped with the static electricity problems, dry skin and lips, and I have been able to turn my thermastat back 2 degrees, because the moisture in the air makes the house feel warmer. If you have gas heat, that is a money saver. The replacement filters are easy to find and fairly inexpensive. Buy the filters at Walmart, $9.97, they will cost twice as much to order them from the Holmes company. The only complaint I have about the humidifier is how it looks. It stands out like a sore thumb among all my country decor, wood accents and earth tones. A brown, wood look design would have been nice.

I have used this product for 2 years and just bought a friend one for Christmas.
The water capacity of the tanks allows the unit to run for more than 48 hours, sometimes 3-4 days. I set the humidity setting and monitor the house humidity so it remains between 35 and 55 % (recommended to reduce staff and strep germs) with a wall humidity device.
Even my plants require less watering because of the air moisture I maintain.
Other higher priced and less water capacity units do not meet my requirements for minimal maintenance, satisfactory moisture control, and ease of use.
