I originally watched Bleach in the form of a rough japanese fansub I downloaded LONG before this came ot america. At first, it was hard to watch and get into with the english audio (though I think it had more to do with the low quality audio/video and comericals from watching it on Adult Swim)
But I bought the dvds, and once I could sit down and watch them, well I think the quality is definately high, great story, great music and a good bit of humor thrown in to keep things from getting too serious.
Fantastic value at this price.

This is a great set for anyone...
There's a few parts where they use language, but it only adds to the storyline.
I love this boxed set and will be getting Season 2 soon.

The Season One Box Set of Bleach is a great addition to any anime or movie collection. There is an engaging storyline, well developed characters, plenty of humorous interjections, and serious moments. I found the latter episodes, in particular, the most entertaining and thought provoking to watch. However, I felt that the animation was slightly sloppy at times and some of the voice acting less than expected, but these issues did not detract from the veiwing experience. Anyone who enjoys watching films with a combination of humor, action, comradarie, and fantasy will enjoy having Bleach as an addition to their collection.

An excellent series that draws you in. The overall story is serious, but the series throws random comedic moments into the mix to lighten the mood. Great addition to any Anime library, and a must have to fans of Shonen Jump series.

Bleach is among the best when it comes to anime (Japanese animation) which is what you would expect from a company like Shonen Jump. Bleach is also a long running favorite from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim lineup. This box set is a must for any anime enthusiast! All the episodes are original and uncut and feature various extras from a clean closing to voice actor interviews. Also, the original Japanese is available as an alternate audio channel, which is more entertaining than you would think when you pair it with English subtitles. The box set itself is extremely well put together and one of the finest sets I’ve seen available, not to mention at this great price.
The storyline follows the life of young High School student Ichigo Kurosaki who had a chance meeting with Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki. A Soul Reaper is a spiritual being who wields a samurai like sword called a Zanpakuto, which they use to protect the human world from evil spirits known as Hollows. After Rukia is wounded Ichigo agrees to use her powers to become a substitute Soul Reaper to protect his family. This box set covers the early exploits of Ichigo as a Soul Reaper (episodes 1-20) which covers volumes 1-8 of the manga (comic version).
On a side note: parents should be warned this series does include violence, gore and crude humor.

After watching this show on Adult Swim and reading the manga of which it was based on, I was really glad to find the episodes of the first season in boxed set (buying individual DVD's is not my thing). For those who don't know (and mind you this is a very brief description), the show follows the teenager, Ichigo Kurosaki, and his daily struggles to fight off evil spirits called Hollows. How does he do this? After meeting a Soul Reaper named Rukia, who gives him her power to defend his family, Ichigo becomes the Substitute Soul Reaper. It is with this power, his sword (or zanpakutō), and some unexpected help that he is able to complete this task. The disks are basically the same ones from the individual first season DVD. Though I must insist on the set since the single disks will be, in the long run, more expensive then buying the set. All in all, Bleach is a fantastic anime and should be seen by anyone who is a fan of the manga or just the genre in general.

When I had originally stumbled across this dvd boxed set, I bought it on a whim. I had never seen or heard about Bleach before. The overall five-disk set just looked eye appealling, and I hoped that the show itself, would be as appealling as its packaging. Incidentally it was much better than I anticipated. I highly recommend it to anybody looking for good old sword swinging anime action. With well thought out characters and wicked monsters this manga masterpiece belongs in your collection.

As it has come to be expected from Shonen Jump, Bleach fulfills its duty of being a highly entertaining anime. Though perhaps a bit lengthy for a beginning anime collector to start with, it is an excellent addition for anyone.
The story of the show progresses well, with seamless transitions between story and filler. The music stays upbeat and matches the emotion very well. And the characters are very intricate, each with their own individual stories and past.
On the other hand, it is very similar to other anime; in respect to the teenage hero transcending the bounds of normal humans to perform superhuman feats of incredible proportions.

Bleach is an amazingly good anime. If you're not really into it, this is a good place to start. It has a really good story line and the fillers are just amazing.
