I looked at pretty much everything on the market, LCD's, projection, and plasma's. Decided to go with the Vizeo 42" and I have zero complaints. The only thing I can say negative about this TV is that it doesn't have a sleep timer or alarm settings, and the sound isn't great on the TV itself. But those are really not that big of deal. I have a clock and added a 1000W 5.1 surround system which fixed the sound issues for movies and such. Overall, I am completely happy with this product, it is awesome for watching sports (hockey in particular, GO WINGS), or movies in HD from Comcast. Love it, love it, love it. Couldn't be much happier with this purchase. Plan on getting a 32" LCD Vizeo for my bedroom.

Bought this tv in feb 09 had it for six month very good picture and worked great with blueray and ps3. loved it Key word is LOVED past tence. turned it on worked for about 5 min the screen went black and sound started buzzing. found crack in left lower corner. never been hit just worked on min then just crack while watchin a movie. called vizio they said i should get a new tv in as soon as 15 day to one month so yay no tv for a while.

I was very surprised to see a 42' Plasma at this price not to mention it's a Vizio (which I am told are the makers of Sony). First of All I had to pay shipping because it wasn't site to store which was $40.00 bucks. Next I gotta be honest the picture was great but I started hearing this loud buzzing or humming sound coming from the back of the TV, which was annoying because you could hardly hear the program on the TV. I shipped it back of course and purchased the RCA w/ home theater system (excellent buy ) which I would recommend. But Walmart.com was great they sent UPS to pick it up at their cost and they refunded my shipping, so over all it was not too bad. By the way the Vizio tech support said it may have been the sound board on the TV that was defective.

We purchased a Phillips 42 HDTV LCD at x-mas 08. It was an awesome TV with an awesome picture. 3 weeks ago our 2 1/2 yr old son ( we have 3 boys) threw the x-box controller at the TV and broke it. We called Phillips customer service, which was great by the way, and they set up for a repair man to come out under warranty. We did not expect to get it replaced but you never know...well they did not replace the TV BUT gave us excellent advice. The repairman said you get a plasma TV because they are much sturdier w/ young children and the TV screen is much harder than that of a LCD, he said it does not take much to damage the LCD screen because it so thin.
Well w/o a TV we bought a 42 Sanyo 42 HDTV LCD and it was ok but did not have the picture of the Phillips. I searched the internet for LCD tweaks and even then the picture was ok but not close to the Phillips.
After what the repair man said, I returned the 42 Sanyo HDTV LCD and bought the 42 Vizio HDTV Plasma cheaper than both previous TV's!!
This is the bomb!! The picture exceeds the Phillips by a stretch w/o any tweaking plus it is sturdier than an LCD if you have young children. We do have Direct TV HD and it rocks...this the deal of the year, buy it you will love it! Great features, sound is ok but everything else totally rocks!!

Recently purchased 42" plasma Vizio HDTV at Walmart. After setting up TV, picture seemed fine but had a black line (about 3/4") running across the middle of the screen. Technical services at Vizio could not help via phone and advised to return TV to Walmart for exchange. No problem with exchange at Walmart. Took TV set home and started to remove from box, but screen broken with much small pieces. Return to Walmart for exchange again. Another set brought out storage in back and opened by employee. Same thing again broken screen, another TV again opened up but no picture or sound even with other employees trying. Third TV also Vizio 42" plasma had problems. Walmart suggested another brand. This one was an LCD Sanyo and has worked for the past two weeks. The experience with Walmart was OK but those TV's not working were a real hassle.

I originally bought this item online and was disappointed when it arrived broken. I had to haul it to the nearest Walmart store. Fortunately, the store had the same item in stock but it was a factory refurbished version. It still looks and works great and I'm pleased with my purchase.

I was amazed at how great the color and details are. I can see the background more than I could with my other tv. Looking at sports the colors are unreal. I am not into sports but I enjoyed it just for the color. The first tv I ordered I had to carry to the store and exchange, but I got the same exact one. It could have gotten damaged on delivery.

I have a smaller model and bought this for my 80+ year old mom. It's so easy to set up and the picture is outstanding. We didn't get any stereo speakers for it, and it really doesn't need them for her apartment. The HDMI connections for the VCR makes it really easy to connect.

Watching football at a sports bar I noticed how clear the picture was..... better than at home. All the televisions in the place were Vizios, had to have one . Its been almost a year now, I have no regrets buying this plasma tv . Watching sports in HD at home is fantastic especially with surround sound. When I got it home ,I thought it was too big for my living room. Its perfect !!! The plasma tv is heavy (62lbs)and it gets warm ,but its worth it weight in gold for the entertainment value.

I am very happy with the tv. Sometimes the picture isn't that great but I guess that might be because I haven't hooked up the HD factor yet. But using it as a regular tv it looks pretty good. This is my first flat screen plasma. It looks great, and I get great reviews. It was so easy to install. We just plugged it up and it was ready to go. No hard work! It is quite amazing that for so much technology it is so thin and light yet the tv I had before, I needed 3 people to lift it out and that was the old tv...lol.

Went to pick up the TV, took it home and the screen was broken all the way across. We returned it to the store and luckily there were two more at the store. The first one had a broken screen also. The second one was fine and the TV seems to work great. Would not recommend purchasing a TV this way, as you should open the box before you take it home. This TV was for my son's birthday and we were all very disappointed until we returned it to the store and the good one checked out alright.
