Well I will have to review this product again once I can ride it. I waited 2-3 weeks for it to arrive at the site-to-store. Most of the bike is assembled in the box, but the forks were put on backwards and they were bent. The front tire hub will not fit into the forks. I will be taking it back to wal-mart this weekend and wait for my new one. I will amend this in 2-3 weeks most likely.

i bought ti a few weeks ago from wallmart (prebuilt) and after 4 days the breaks were draging, the and the back tire was wobiling....all from just street riding to school and back. the stem caps have come of during street riding, and this bike weighs way to much for serious mountain biking

So far it is a very nice bike. The forward derailer needs to be adjusted. Other than that, I put it together and rode.
Gears are agreeable. Went up some steep (paved) hills and didn't need low!
Haven't had it off road....yet. I'll try to ammend the review then, if needed.
I'm no serious rider. just getting back in shape after a few years away. This seems like the bike for me.

I bought the Blackcomb a few months ago and have ridden it about 3 times a week. It is a very sturdy bike and its suspension is very good. The also brakes work very well. My biggest complaint is that the gears have given me some grinding problems and haven't been that smooth (esp. the higher gears). I didn't assemble the gears or shifters, so I'm not sure why they'd be giving me trouble but they have. I need to take it to a bike shop to see what the deal is. Otherwise, the bike is sturdy and is a good value.

Got the "blackcomb" two weeks ago...Bought it already put together, took it home, only to find the front wheel was badly bent. I assume from the rack at wal-mart, so make sure you check that out! Drove back got a new bike. No problems. I ride about 50 miles a week...Use it everyday. Was going to buy a cheaper bike, but decided to upgrade. Glad I did. This Bike has done all I need, good gear ratio, easy shift, shifts well. Love the disc brakes, they do need to be adjusted after you buy the bike (just by turning a dial). There is no info on how to adjust the shocks or how to service the brakes in the owner manual. Pretty easy to figure out, but would have nice to of had something to go on.

For the price this bike is awesome. No problems so far and assembly was simple.
Haven't taken it on any trails yet, but on the road it's been very comfortable and seems very sturdy.

I got my bike yesterday and had it built by Walmart. brought it home and road it for a few hours. I have to say this is the best bike i have ever rode. I ride a bike everyday to work, to the store, where ever i go. I had to do minor adjusting to the back derailer because it was clicking in 8,16,24th gear. The seat could be a little more comfortable but it is still nice. I went from a 21 speed that i could reach top speed on with no problem on straightaways, to this Black Comb and have not reached it in 24th. havnt went down a real big hill yet. I HIGHLY recommend this bike to any 1 any age willing to pay that extra $ for a great bike. You can even set the preload on the front shocks. I know i will have this bike for the rest of my life

This bike has held up a lot better than the bike my son bought at a bike shop for more money. The gears shift easily and the ride is very comfortable. I have had to replace the brake pads, I am not sure of this is from my wife riding the brake down the canyon, or if they were just a lower quality brake pad. This is a great bike for the money! I chose in store delivery and the local Walmart assembled it and called me when it was ready for pick up, you can't beat that!

After reading all of the reviews on this bke here and at other stores I finally decided on the Blackcomb. Although I don't use it for mountain bike riding or racing I live in an area surrounded by them and thought it might come in handy. I mainly ride in town on blacktop. And so far I'd have to say this is the best bike I've ever owned. It was very easy to assemble and the manual was handy. The bike is very sturdy and meets all of the info I got about the bike before I bought it. The brakes, the deraileurs, the tires and shocks...they are all an "outstanding" quality for the price. Unless you're going to be racing the mountians everyday I think you'll be impressed with this bike's quality.

i would recommend this bike for anyone. It is amazing. I bought this bike about 3 months ago. I live in a small town sorounded by mountains. So I use it as my transportation and as my fun. I took it on the hardest trail around. I made it up like it was and beginner trail. If you bought this bike at a bike shop it would be higher than 500$. So if you have the money or your parents or someone is buying it for you i would show this bike tho them. I just cant stop thinking about how amazing it is. thank you walmart for having such a nice bike.

Love this bike. Has comfortable shocks in front and back which definitely makes a difference compared to my old bike with no shocks. Has disc brakes not only in the front, but also the rear. The left and right shifters are numbered and are super easy to use to go up or down a gear, just a click of the thumb.

well i finally bought it, then the brakes and the rear shocks SQUEAK SSSSSSOOOOOOOO loud. the brake squeak went away, but the shock just got worse. this is really weak. I only like the brakes and the red looks nothing else... even $30 bikes are better

I bought this model of Mongoose because my neighbor rides one and is very rough with the bike. He has had it for almost two years and has experienced very few problems (most self-induced).
I like the fact that the bike was fully assembled when purchased.

This Bike came very fast and I have been riding it for a few weeks now. It is a great bike. had to adjust the shifters but it rides like a dream. needed a different handler bar to as I am over 6' tall and I found a 4" rise was just what I needed.

this bike can take a beating. just remember to add locktite to the pedals if not they may fall out.( thats what bikeshops do) other than that this bike is awesome for the price and light

Googling around provides reviews that dog on this bike for not being a name-brand LBS contender, but for the price paid, this bike is fantastic. The build quality is very good, wheels are good, disc brakes are a big plus, and the fork is really nice. Time will tell how well it holds up, but it seems sturdy. I had my LBS put it together and tune it for me, and I'd recommend the same if to anyone that buys this bike (or any Wal-Mart bike, for that matter) to ensure it's put together and tuned correctly.
The seat is hard, but it's replaceable. The bike is heavy, and this is probably the biggest drawback, but if you're a recreational biker, it should suit you quite well.
I think it's a great bike, and I don't think you can beat it for the price (unless you buy a used bike). I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a decent all-terrain bike and is on a budget.
