I heard Dolly sing the song "Jesus & Gravity" on American Idol on 4/2/08. I fell in love with that song!!!!!! It is a wonderful song & she did a excellent job singing it!!!!!!!

When I first popped the disc in, I was actually disappointed, because it has been so wonderful to hear Dolly expressing so many different kinds of music, but this is an excellent mainstream country album. After the initial surprise wore off, I absolutely fell in love with this one. Jesus and Gravity is one of the best songs I've heard lately, especially in the midst of all the nonsense garbage songs that have been hitting the charts. Dolly has come through once again with a fantastic album that is a treat for the heart and soul.

Dolly Parton's latest album, Backwoods Barbie, is one of her best. Whether she is bouncing through songs like "Better Get To Livin'" and "Shinola" or singing straight country on songs like "Made of Stone" Dolly proves once again that she is a legend. This album not only shows her genius but also her range. Along with songs Dolly wrote there are two covers on the album that show Dolly can take any song and make it her own: "Tracks of My Tears" (by Smoky Robinson and The Miracles) and "Drives Me Crazy" (by Fine Young Cannibals). Also, on this CD there is a Wal-Mart exclusive track of Dolly performing her hit "9 To 5" live! These along with the other stellar tracks make for a perfect album. This is one CD that is definately not to be missed.

I have been a long time Dolly Parton fan every since I heard her on the CMA's, song "Hello God". But this album is beyond anything I have ever heard from her. It has everything from the crazy pop hits to the slow Celtic roots and contemporary and traditional country. I love her renditions and love the blues. It is an album that will surely win many awards. . . .

With the baseball season about to start again, Dolly Parton has picked a good time to hit one out of the park again with "Backwood Barbie". The single and video for "Better Get to Livin'" have been out for a few months now, but that is just a fraction of what this CD has to offer.
It is vintige Dolly. Even the songs she didn't write have been "Dolly-ized". This is a must for every one who likes a cross between Pop and Country. Dolly should be getting airplay! Her remake of the Fine Young Cannibals "She Drives Me Crazy" should be filling airwaves on Country and AC stations across the nation!

Dolly is back to her mainstream country sound in her new cd "Backwoods Barbie", and also throws in some bluegrass, pop, gospel and blues! No one should be disappointed with this cd, from her self-penned title track, the upbeat "Better Get to Livin'", cheatin' songs "Cologne" and "Made of Stone", and the sassy "Shinola". Then there's the beautiful gospel song "Jesus and Gravity". I've been waiting a while for this cd, and it was worth it!

I have MANY Dolly albums (vinyl to mp3) and I have to say, this one is higher up in the ranks. If you have never bought a Dolly album, start here, then go back and pick up more! Maybe, "Eagle When She Flies" or "White Limozeen."

Dolly Parton has been on the top of my country music icon from the time I was old enough to know who she was. Dolly is on the same level as Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, and that is wonderful.
I am so glad Dolly has come out with another album. Now it's getting the radio stations to play her music again. Radio stations should be honored to play her music. Dolly has been around long enough to have her music played and that of course is an honor.

Dolly Rocks Again!
First off, let me announce that I'm a big Dolly fan. Have been since I sat in the first row of a Dolly and Porter concert (well, it might have been billed as a Porter and Dolly concert) at the county fair -- oh, about 35 years ago! But that doesn't discount what a great, great cd this is. I love the story line in "Backwoods Barbie", reminiscent of the classic "Coat Of Many Colors", as well as the catchy melody. Her heartbreak shows in "Made Of Stone" and in the two-sides-to-every-story, her portrayal as the other woman in "Cologne". But the one I catch myself singing to myself is "Jesus and Gravity" -- "something lifting me up, something holding me down..."
Her voice is as strong and clear as ever. She says it all in the title track "even Backwoods Barbies deserve a second chance". If you've written Dolly off already, give her that chance.

Dolly just keeps getting better and better! The new Backwoods Barbie cd is a must have. I love the new songs in addition to the remakes of a couple older pop songs. Should we expect anything less from the "Queen of Country???" LOVE IT!
