I bought this product for my grandchildren and we tried it outside and threw money on the ground and the metal detector would not even locate the money. I will return this product as soon as possible. My grandkids were very disappointed.

Since this was a gift from Santa and we have about 18 inches of snow on the ground, we are unable to use this product at this time. It does warn you about using it indoors so we have had to put it away until spring. I will keep my fingers crossed that it does what it is supposed to as it made my 9-year old very happy on Christmas morning.

Bought this metal detector for our 10 yr old for Christmas and he LOVES it. Spent most of the day outside yesterday with a couple of his friends finding treasures. Kept them busy for a while and I love the fact that this gets them outside instead of playing video games or watching tv. I think that this is a great beginner metal detector and if he continues to show interest with it, then maybe at some point in the future we'll decide to upgrade to one with more bells and whistles. But, for now, this was the perfect gift.

This detector works extremely well. I found a dime about 6 inches in the ground and larger objects about 17 inches down. The only drawback with it is it has no jack for earphones so the beeping can be loud if you are in a public place.

I got this for my sons birthday. He loves being outside so I figured this would be a great thing for him. The day we got it a friend of ours had lost an expensive but small ring. We were able to locate it in mere seconds. They had looked for it for three days prior to this. It is lots of fun. My son uses it for finding treasure that I have scattered over the backyard. We are all enjoying it.

Purchased this for my 8 year old daughter. Crossed my fingers hoping that it would work well enough for her. A couple of days of use have given us bags full of interesting items. She loves it. The whole family has been having fun. Great value. Great starter. My daughter is going to save all the coins etc. she finds and in a year she is going to upgrade to a more advanced model. I have no doubt she will be able to do this.

I ordered this for locating empty pistol cartridges when I am shooting in the field. It's almost impossible to find brass in a cut field, and more so in higher grass. With .45 caliber brass costing almost $20 a hundred, I could see where a metal detector might save me time and money. After only a few minutes of use, I was able to adjust the Bounty Hunter to differentiate between worthless .22 brass and currently expensive .45 brass. While scanning an area for brass, I have located larger iron and steel items at least a couple of inches deep. Another benefit to this model is the light weight. When I picked it up at Walmart, it felt like a empty box. It allows me to turn up the power and quickly sweep areas without much effort. I don't know if this is a model for treasure hunters, but I think it works great for my use and it only cost a little over $40 with sales tax. Shipping was free with ship to store.
