If you are looking for a backboard to hone your basketball shooting skills, look no further than the Lifetime 1008 44" In-Ground Basketball System. Made of acrylic, the 44-inch sturdy backboard readily absorbs the impact of the ball without wear. It comes with a net made of nylon, which inspires resistance and durability across changing seasons and conditions. Also, the 3.5-inch pole that supports the basketball practice system endures the onslaught of the ever-transient weather. You can adjust the height of this basketball goal system to anything between 7.5' and 10' using the Quick Adjust II mechanism. The 5/8-inch steel ring adds to the stability and durability of the construction. You need to dig a hole in the ground and fill it with concrete in order to set up the goal system. Overall, the Lifetime 44" In-Ground Basketball System is an ideal choice if you are looking for a practice backboard.

I loved this item when I first installed it a year and a half ago. I hated the idea of those sand filled black bases taking up the driveway. However by the end of 6 monhts rust started to show in the lowest connection on the pole. The "stainless steel" screws that hold the last piece together rusted, but more the pole is rusting so that new screws don't have anything to bite on. Can't seem to find replacement poles, or they cost as much as the entire thing was new. After 18 months I am here shopping for another basketball set up because its coming down when the ground unfreezes. Plan on getting 2 - 3 years out of it. I won't park my car under it, just in case there the rusting deterioration has accelerated.

We were happy with the product - once we got it put together correctly. The instructions are not clear and parts diagram is small hard to see whats what. The kids are happy with it and it seems to be holding up so far.

Review 6 for Lifetime 1008 44" In-Ground Basketball System
I bought this goal, because we had one before, but i was able to buy it in the store. The box was tore up a bit wgenn i got but its heavy figured that was why. Open it up, the base fase down not thinking of anything my husband concrete the base in. Went to put the board together because we have to let it sit fir days. The board has shatter crack on the top, upside down you dont see it. Not sure what to do since they dont sell them in the store to exchange the board. We already have part of the pole in the ground.

Relatively easy to assemble. Directions a little deceptive but I figured out the missing pieces when the were left over at the end. The goal adjusts well and the kids are having a blast.

Pick up box from store and when we got ready to put together the backboard was cracked. If it can become cracked in the box then what will happen when its outside in the elements. Returned it to the store.

We just got this for our son. The shipping box, as other reviewers have mentioned, is not strong enough. Part of the contents fell out when I moved it from where FedEx left it. At least nothing was lost nor damaged. I started assembling the back board this afternoon. The instructions are awful. The pictures are helpful but there isn't enough detail. I had a few things I had to redo because the instructions were so poor that when the next step was needed it wouldn't work because the previous was off a bit. I enjoy assembling things and like puzzles (my husband hates it). This has been quite a challenge. Some of the assembly I had to figure out based on what seemed logical the instructions were so incomplete. Once the cement is dry and we can get the whole thing up, I'll be interested to see how that goes. The back board is some what flimsy feeling, I thought it would be thicker. We'll have to see how it holds up to teenagers. Be sure to read, reread and finger tighten only, until you are sure everything is together correctly.

Just installed on 5/24. The rim is angled up, but a few washers will fix that. Overall a nice system. I thinking about filling the rest of the pole with sand to make it more stiff. Good buy & looks great!

This is my second Lifetime basketball system I am trying to put together. It is very difficult and now in my basement because I gave up. The directions are tiny pictures. That's all .. very few written directions. I would not recommend this productjj

Super easy height adjustment

This was by far the cheapest in ground system I found. It was easy to put together, seems sturdy yet not outrageously heavy. It does not require as much concrete as it said. We only used 3.5 bags of 40# mix. I followed the directions exactly. The best part is that it adjusts so easy. My 12 year old daughter can rise/lower it with the end of a broomstick, all the way from 10ft to 7ft. The backboard is a little small and I would not let anyone dunk or touch the rim. It's not shatter proof but for our use, it was the perfect buy.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this since I ordered it online. It's a good hoop and seems to be made pretty well. I have seen a lot of people complain about the instructions being complicated but I actually found them to be pretty easy to understand. I don't know if maybe the company improved the instructions after other people posted complaints but I didn't have any trouble understanding.
