Coby 7" Dual-Screen Portable DVD Player w/ Battery

We had this product for about 4 month now. Used it for long trips on the road. My kids like the big screen and also easy use. But... sometimes the unit freezes which can be frustrating. Also some dvd software did not work with this unit which was disapointing. Also installing and removing dvd is very hard. We have to stop the car so I can change it for the kids. Not good to do while driving. I the unit is working good it's a good unit. Reliabilty is so so....

I should have know that something was wrong with this product as soon as I got it. First thing was that in the discription it says the screen swivels, it dosn't. Now nothing is in warranty and the main unit wont take a disc (any movie disc) and the second unit dosn't have picture anymore. Oh and the first unit keeps going to "sleep" so I have to press the lcd screen button. I would NOT buy this product. Spend a little more money and buy a name brand. Now everything is out of warranty (90 days what is that?!) and I am out the money and the product.

I had my Coby 7" Dual-Screen Portable DVD Player w/ Battery delievered to the store on the 24th. We picked it up. My kids and I loved this for travel trips or even just trips around town. Now the unit worked very nice for 26 days. You could see and hear video on Unit #2, but the main units TFT Backlight went out. LCD wasn't cracked or anything. It was not subjected to any harm either. When the backlight on the TFT screens go you can still see the LCD, but it is EXTREMLY dark. You certainly cannot entertain on it. So I had to return it to the store. Since this item is not in my store, they had to order a new one for me online. I am willing to give this another shot. For the price it a a GREAT deal. If however the next unit quits after 26 days then I would say much differently. I am willing to safely assume that perhaps this was 1 bad unit out of millions. Once using the stereo cassette adaptor the sound was amazing. It sound like a movie theatre in your car, truck or van. In my case a mini-van. Deep base and great surround sound. Color's were very nice. The biggest pain of this unit is needing to stop the car, take the DVD out of the Velcro case swicth the dvd and then put it and all the wires back together. These units did mount nicely once inside the case. We had to criss cross though due to the style of our seats. When in the very back of the car, they could be mounted normally without criss crossing the straps. If I could offer one tip: Get extended length DVD's for your kids. Their own Headphones were nice touch if you wish not to hear their movie. Dual screen is very nice as well so one doesnt have to strain to look over to the other screen. The battery on the main unit is GREAT. It kept going, and going. The 2nd unit does not have a battery and is more a slave to unit 1. Unit 2 will only run if the first one is plugged into home outlet or the car adaptor.. Nice to see so many choices with this unit though. Coby has came out with same model style and look, but new feature. Built in RF modulator. That way you don't need to run a wire to the Tape, DVD, or stereo in your car. You just tne it to the choosen freqeuncie and off you go. *This model uses a wire which you can either plug into your stereo if your car has the input, or you must use the tape adaptor. I hope I have provided enough informations here. Hey it's only my review hope to see more. Also I HIGHLY suggest getting Walmarts warranty to go with it. I think I got 2 years for $28.00 or something like that. It covers a wealth of problems with these units. Being these are used in your vehicle I higly believe in this option. Vibration, bumps, and ofcourse the Kiddo's. It really is a GREAT idea. Unit 2 was able to be hooked up to my son's gaming system with no problems. We also used a Digital converter box available at Walmart. Once hooked up to it you would think we had a minature HD TV. Unit one had no input's, but unit 2 does.. Well t hats all for now folks.

Exceptional value. I've bought and returned two previous players. This came with everything for use in the car or inside the home. It came with two pairs of head phones in addition to the built in speakers on the screen. It even came with a cassette adapter to play through an existing sound system. I like the single 12 volt power cable that splits off to connect to the screens. I also like that the player screen has a rechargeable battery so that I can use it by itself away from the car, such as on a plane. The headrest mounts are secure and work well with any telescopic type head rest. I recommend this set for everyone with kids. I ordered the item from Walmart.com and it arrived two days later-five days earlier than promised.

This has been GREAT to take when we travel with our children ages 2and 1/2 1 and 1/2 and our 6 month old. Our 2 and1/2 year old can put movies in and start them herself. It keeps them entertained on our whole trip and when we get to themountin and there's no t.v. they have their dvd player. The batteries last a long time before needing replced or charged.

It worked well for about 3 movies and then I could not get it to play a DVD. It stuck in a different mode. I loved the picture quality and sound prior to it breaking. I loved the holders for the monitors and the length of the cord. It just didn't work!!!

So far this is a great product for the price. Only draw back, the second screen only works if you plug it into the car lighter. Over all my 2 boys love it. Great sound and quality picture.

The DVD player is nice. There are a couple of things that I would change. First of all, you cant watch with TV with the battery in and plugged in. It just comes up with a blank screen. Also, they don't save where you are when you get out of the car, so you continuously are starting the movie over. It is also a pain to put the movies in and out when they are in the over the seat holders. Otherwise they work well and do what we expected.
