COMPRESSED CARDBOARD, 10/30/2009
By Baileyak
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

Buy this bed if you have $300 you just want to waste. It completely broke within a year. The support beams that hold the mattress up are 1) held up by cheap plastic brackets that easily break away from the screws holding them up, and 2) made out of some kind of mystery material that can only be described as glorified cardboard. The planks that go across the support beams to support the mattress are very thin particle boards.

On our bed, the particle boards and the support beams broke just from a 200 lb adult sitting on the bed. Thank goodness this bed was purchased for our 40 lb son, or it would have been toast a long time ago!

When we first got the bed, we were very disappointed that the back of the headboard is NOT "finished" (raw particle board is exposed) and would have to be placed against a wall at all times. What a poorly designed and made excuse for a bed. :(

For over $300 I expected much more than this.

JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!, 10/04/2009
By happy522, NY
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

This bed is not worth the money, it is not pine just pine color. It is basically compressed cardboard. Once the bed was together it was wobbly so I will have to buy real wood to re-enforce it. The casters that are on the bottom bed were screwed in and they cracked the 'wood'. Shoppers beware!!!!

Don't waste your money, 06/05/2009
By JVogele, Kansas
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I bought this thinking I was getting a "high quality" product. This product is no better than what is on the store shelf for half the price. I expected REAL wood, not particle board for the price I paid. Some of the pieces had the pre-drilled holes on the wrong side. I would NOT recommend this product !

I purchased this product online and within a week it was at the store. it was a lot of pieces but the directions were easy to follow. Its very sturdy and is withstanding my 7 and 9 year old boys just fine. the only draw back is the trundle is a little hard to push on the carpet

Trundle Bed (upper half), 03/25/2009
By VTHandyman, South Burlington, VT
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

This bed is fine for what I wanted. Low price average materials. The parts were well labeled and instructions were easy. Only one improvement is small predrilled holes for the slat braces. Can't do it with a hand screwdriver, you need a power drill on REAL SLOW. I haven't slept on it yet though, it's for guests (in the spare room)

The bed is made of cheap particle board type material and was cracked in the middle when we got it. Now we have to take it completely apart which took 5 hours to put together. Not Good.

We didn't want to spend too much money on our daughter's first big girl bed. This bed will last her for quite a few years to come. The bed wasn't hard to put together and the instructions were clear.

Great Bed! Very Happy With it!, 02/03/2009
By ProudMommy609, PA
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

We bought this bed for my two year old son who was ready for his first 'big boy' bed and we are very happy with it. The bed does sit kind of high which bothered me concerning him rolling off at night but we bought side rails and it works great, besides, he likes the fact that it sits high. It was a little tough to put together but my husband did it by himself in less than 2 hours. This is made of strong partical board and DOES NOT look cheap whatsoever! It was very cost efficient, especially for a 2 year old who is going to do nothing but destroy it over time. He's been using this bed now for over 4 months and it is still flawless. We now have another little boy who is 2 months old and intend on giving him this bed when he is ready for his big boy bed, we have no reason to believe it will not hold up. We also bought the trundel to go under it which we like also. Great quality and nice looking bed for the price...can't beat it!

Review 9 for South Shore Country Twin Bed, Pine

Very Disappointed, 01/25/2009
By GoldenButterfli, Michigan
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

There were no predrilled holes in the head/foot board so it took a very long time to screw all 31 screws and I still couldn't get the screws in all the way. It took over 3 hours to get it all together and then after I got it together we went to move the bed into the spot it was to stay in and the leg broke off just from moving it! I am so glad that my children weren't on the bed when it broke! I guess you get what you pay for...

This product looks great on the internet ..... However, the quality is very poor. The bed feels like its going to fall apart if you sit on it too hard.... We are very unhappy with the purchase. We ended up returning the dresser and the nightstand due to quality of the bed and trundle ....

It was put together correctly but within 24 hours the bed had collapsed onto the trundle. It seems the screws stripped the wood and it wouldn't hold.

Review 14 for South Shore Country Twin Bed, Pine

not what i expexted, 04/14/2008
By an anonymous customer, mobile, al
Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

first of all, when opening the package, the styrofoam was broken and screws were out of the bag and all around the box. there were places on the wood (or whatever the material is) that were chipped and scrapped. putting it together looked easy enough, but it did take 3 people at one point. once assembled it creaks alot and i was misunderstood about the word "pine" in the description. i was expecting wood. it's very thin and flemsy. and the trundle doesn't fit under the bed perfectly. one side won't go all the way under. i was hoping it would last for years for my 5 year old. i doubt it. i know you get what you pay for but in this case we didn't even get that. this is the lfirst and last time i by furniture from the internet!!

Hard to assemble! Weird Size!, 04/08/2008
By MyTwoToddlers, Long Island, NY
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

This bed was very difficult to assemble. There were about 35 wood skrews that didn't have pre-drilled holes. It made it very difficult to assemble. I actually had to drill holes myself becuase the wood skrews wouldn't go into the MDF for anything. Also some of the wood panels were chipped right out of the box.
Once assembled the bed was much larger then expected. Plus the frame is larger then our twin mattress.... there is a 2 inch space around all 4 sides of the mattress. Its a standard size twin mattress.
All in all it is a nice looking bed once assembled and meets our needs for right now. But have your drill ready and and be prepared! It's huge! Very Tall too.
