After reading lots of reviews I chose the Hoover All-Terrain as my new carpet/hard floor cleaner. I liked all the fact that it had lots of extra attachments also that came with it; an upholstry attachment and spin brushes for tile and hard floor. Oh, by the way, on the description and pictures on here it shows a circular pad handheld rotating brush attachment with the cleaner, it does NOT come with that. When I got it home I assembled the handle and went to work. I had a grape jelly stain on my white carpet (compliments of my 2 year old son) that I was anxious to try my new carpet cleaner out on. I used it and it worked perfect; no more grape jelly stain on my white carpet!!! I then tried it out on the tile and hardwood in my house and was satisfied. I probably wouldn't have used it so much on my hard floors as I didn't think it did as good on those as it did on my carpet. The next day I went to clean the carpet in my daughters room and the machine started sound just a tad bit louder, so I looked down and noticed that the spin brushes were NOT spinning anymore! I went and emptied the dirty water container, checked the settings (which were set right; to carpet), and checked to see that the filter wasn't dirty as the owners mannual said under trouble shooting (it was not dirty). So I don't know what happened to it, but I am very dissapointed! $205.00 for something that worked only twice!!! I will be returning for a refund!!! It did do an excellent job on my carpet while it was working, but it should have lasted WAY longer than 2 uses! Very dissapointed! :(

Absolutely thrilled with the customer service involved with this order. I cancelled my original purchase through Sears due to their total lack of professionalism in handling the order & I'm STILL waiting on a refund! Not only did I receive my cleaner from Walmart in a timely manner but have already used it on a rug that got automotive oil stains on it in several places (ugh!) & it came out beautiful! Very pleased so far & looking forward to the results on hard wood & tile floors next. I purchased the extended warranty as well, just in case I have any problems down the line. Sears didn't even offer the extended warranty with my original purchase. All in all, I am very pleased so far with this purchase. Thanks so much to everyone who followed through with my order from start to finish without a flaw. KUDOS to you all! That's what customer service is all about & that kind of care will keep your doors open for many years to come while other stores are closing theirs & wondering why! Great job guy's! Thanks again!

I had this model for several years. While it cleaned well, it started leaking (when the unit was off after use) about 6 mos. after purchase. When it died - the brushes stopped working, I bought a replacement of the same model - the old one did clean well and considering it is used once a week, had a decent life span. But the new unit leaked from day one. And from the same place. Because of the leaking problem, I would not recommend this unit. I will try a Bissell next time.

The hose caddie kept falling off the back...very annoying. I used it on our hard floors one time...seemed to be fine. Then I needed to clean the stairs. First, attaching the hose was frustrating and confusing. But the worst part was that the water barely trickled out of the end of the hose attachment. I tried many different things...not much helped. I finally just took it back and purchased another Bissell...that was less expensive and works without a problem (and I didn't need an instruction book to figure out how to use the hose attachment!)

I bought this for my mom because she wanted to clean her carpets. Its a little bit on the heavy side but does an amazing job cleaning I went over some soda and dog urine stains and it completely removed them.

My Father purchased 3 of these cleaners for myself and my 2 sisters as a gift. All 3 of us have had issues with it. All something different but non the less, a total waste of money. Worked pretty good the first time I used it.... Second time was a total mess. appears to have a foam gasket which is torn and floating in what little water was in the waste tank. Very little suction. The remaining water...is saturated in my carpet! I am NOT a happy consumer and will have to drive an hour to return this disappointment so that I can try to get a different one. Hopefully, the extreme water has not damaged my carpet, pad and flooring :-( I have an extremely bad back and It was not fun towel sponging the carpet. I highly doubt that I will be buying a hoover again.

I have used this machine several times and it has worked extremely well. The carpets are very clean and the machine sucks up almost all the water. Carpets are almost dry afterwards. To this point, I would recommend this carpet cleaner.

I'm writing this review after having used this machine only one time. This is what I can tell you about it: I chose this model because it was rated #1 with consumer reports. I however have nothing to compare it to; this is the first one I've ever used or owned. The clean and dirty water tanks seem big but it doesn't take long to empty the clean and fill the dirty. It's simple to fill the clean tank and the cleaning solution has a separate compartment. It's also simple to empty the dirty water tank. It's loud. It drips a little bit of water after using it. You can't quite get to the very edges of your carpet with the machine but there are attachments that look like they would work well for edges. I haven't used the attachments yet. The cord to plug it in isn't very long (as compared to my vacuum). It's kind of heavy to carry but surprisingly easy to clean with. I was pleased with how well it cleaned my carpets.

Decided to purchase a rug cleaner rather than rent one and this was a good choice. It did a great job cleaning and there was minimal wetness on the carpet after going over the areas a few times. Dries pretty quickly. Haven't tried it on other flooring but that's the next test. The hand tool and hose are great for getting under the shelves in the closets and for the stairs. I thought it was going through too much shampoo until I spoke to Hoover customer service and found out the concentrated solution needed to be diluted. Must have missed that on the bottle.

First time I used it was to clean the carpet in a 5x7 ft closet. Went over it once with the soap/rinse then with just the rinse and both during which I had to empty the dirty water tank several times. It was disgusting what I poured out! It was the grossest smelly thick liquid with a three inch stratified layer of sediment at the bottom of the tank. I couldn't believe how much this machine brought up out of just a closet. Can't wait to use it on all my carpet that gets heavy traffic. I bought the extra warranty just as insurance since I have seen various reviews about this and other Hoover cleaner modals breaking down. I hope I don't need it, because its a great carpet cleaner! Totally blows away my old Bissell.

I had a similar Hoover Dual V carpet cleaner for years and loved it. When I finally had to replace it, I did my research and was delighted to find the Hoover Dual V Max Extract F745900 was still rated high. You do have to be careful removing the water/cleaner tank as it has a tendency to leak when it is removed. But that is minor when you have a carpet cleaner that does such a good job of cleaning.

The fresh water tank leaked the first time I removed it with water still in it. It did a great - fantastic job of cleaning. I bought without reading reviews. We all agree, it cleans great, dried fast. However, according to All Vac (official repair department), it is high maintenance. I replaced my Bissel becasue it will not spray fresh water, continually stops up. What a delima.... no good one on the market.

Bought this item to remove stains from 30 year old carpet that has never been deep cleaned to my knowledge. It works great but a couple of minor things kept me from giving this product 5 stars. 1)Personally I do not like how quickly the automatic mixing feature uses up the cleaning solution from the cleaner reservoir (can't even do half of a small room without running out of cleaner) so I find that I prefer to mix the solution myself into the water tank per bottle of cleaner instructions and just bypass the auto mix altogether so I'm not wasting money and cleaning solution. 2) I also didn't like that the hose and its holster don't stay attached very well and the slightest bump knocks it off. Not a big deal though, I just leave it off unless I am using the attachments for furniture or detail work. Does an excellent job of cleaning carpet, though I have found that on hard to remove stains it takes a little more work. But if you center the spinning bristles directly on the stain, squeeze the trigger to release water with cleaner, and do a slight side to side motion and then just leave the bristles spinning on the stain for about 20 or so seconds it will remove the tougher stains. All in all I am very pleased with how it cleans carpet. I am eager to test it on my hard floors and try out all of it's various other cleaning features. Great product for the price even with the minor things I didn't like about it.

I switched from Bissel cause they only lasted a year or so. I do like this one.
It's nice to have dirty water and clean water separated. Also easier to fill the clean tank.

Every bit as good or better than hiring someone to do this for you. Carpets look every bit as good or better than the professional jobs i have have done before, and I get to use it whenever I choose. Carpet dries really fast, 2-3 hours. Have not had a chance to use the hard floor mode, but if it operates like the carpet cleaner, should be no problems. Would recommend.
