We just bought this trike for our 3-year-old son; he's very tall for his age (95% percentile), so I thought for sure he'd be able to ride the trike right away. But, his feet just barely reach the pedals. To help him out, we wedge a rolled towel between the seat and his back to give him a little boost toward the pedals; this "fix" works just fine and he can pedal around the neighborhood without any trouble. Originally, I debated buying the Big Flyer (made for 3-7 year olds) or My First Flyer (made for 2-5 year olds). I'm happy I decided on the Big Flyer; I'm convinced that the My First Flyer would have been too small.
The construction of the trike seems sturdy, and our son loves the flag (I also appreciate the flag's safety factor). My only negative comment is that the grey seat sometimes pops out of place, requiring us to stop and push it back in before our little guy can continue riding. I get that the seat needs to be adjustable, but I wish there was more of a locking feature to it to prevent the occasional pop outs.

6 months ago we got our first "Big Flyer" for our grandson (4 yrs. old) he absolutely loves it; now this one is for our granddaughter (or other kids that visit us) so they don't have to fight over the "Big Flyer".

Old Kids Love it Too!
I bought this in red and pink for my twins 6th birthday. They love it! It took about 30 minutes to assemble but was easy with good directions. My kids hopped on right away and took off. I was worried they would be too big for it since all the reviews were for younger ages, but my 6 year olds ride anytime they can and still have slot to move the seat back one more. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is wish the seat back came up higher and locked into place as it falls off easy. Other then that (which is a very small thing), it is a great item at a great price.

I bought one of these at Walmart around Xmas for my grandson $45, We also bought an "ORIGINAL BIG WHEEL" at another store for our nephew $50. Do NOT buy the Big Wheel. There is no comparison to the quality. The Radio Flyer is much better quality.

Vwry pleased with the quality, lives up to Radio Flyer's reputation. Even at the shortest leg seat setting our 3 & 4 YR Old grandson's (who are the same height) could not quite reach the peddles. Easy to assemble for a tired daddy on Christmas eve.

I bought this for my 5 year old son for Christmas and he loved it! At first my husband was hesitant about buying it because he felt it was too babyish for our son (he rides a regular bike with training wheels). After we put it together (took probably 15 minutes) he was suprised at how big it actually was. My son is about 48lbs and the same height as most of the kids in his kindergarten class and he has plenty of room on this big wheel, we actually had to move up the seat a little so he still has room to grow with it. Within minutes of getting on it he was zooming down the street and making sharp turns to spin out (he's a bit of a dare devil). The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because after a half month of use the tires are already showing pretty significant wear, I'm fairly certain he will ride the wheels off before he grows out..but for $50 it's well worth it.

This is a great trike! Love the aluminum handle bars and adjustable seat. The flag is also a plus so my son is visible to cars. He is five and loves it and it appears that he'll get a couple years of use out of it too since the seat is only in its first positon with two more to go! The only improvement I would make is meatier/treaded back tires. They are smooth and I think a little more traction would be a good thing. But overall...great buy compared to the standard Big Wheel!

I order this item with the guarantee it would arrive between 19th-24th of December. Well that didn't happen, my little boy was so upset he didn't get his Radio Flyer Big Flyer. We received it the day after Christmas, I will not make this mistake again.

Materials are well made and solid. Building it wasn't too bad; it took me about 40 minutes with a hammer, screwdriver, and a couple adjustable wrenches.
It doesn't work well indoors because the "rubber" on the front wheel isn't sticky enough. They problably used it because it'll be more durable on outdoor surfaces. Anyway, great product.

The flag on the back don't waste your time putting on it comes off easy especially when toddlers are playing. If you want your child to peddle the trike I'd wait to get this when they are at least 3 1/2
