I wanted a grill pan. I looked at several different types, but decided to try this one mainly because of the price and the high customer reviews. This pan was very well seasoned and cleaning it up has been easier than I thought it would be. I love that I don't need to use oil most of the time when I grill meat. The only slight negative is the weight of the pan. It is a little bit heavy, but I knew that going in.

I have only used this pan twice (they really need to ask for reviews latter and not so quickly). It felt good and solid in my hands, gave me the "burn" marks on meat that i was looking for and cooked them evenly. Its saids they come "seasoned", on my first try the meat stuck and was difficult to clean up afterwards (even used spray on oil). I re=seasoned the pan myself (IAW their directions on their website) and it works just like a non-stick pan. Bottom line: works great, just season the pan before you use it the first time so u are not disappointed.

EXCELLENT grill pan at an exceptional price. I've read other reviews that mention smoke and sticking, clearly they have the heat too high. Let me give you some tips.
1. Cast iron spreads heat quickly and evenly, so you do not need to use the same type of temperatures that you would with a stainless steel or copper pan. You need to adjust your temperatures so that your pan does not smoke or cause the meat to stick.
My meat did not stick and there wasn't a smoke problem. I made filet Mignon and it came out better than I've EVER been able to make it at home with my stainless steel pans.
The BEST advice I can give on using this pan properly is to adjust your heat! You WON'T need high heat for your steaks, use medium, you will still get great grill marks.
AND it cooked the BEST steak I've ever made at home! I can't believe it was only $18!!!! I made a medium rare steak cooking 2 minutes per side!!! DELICIOUS!!!

I use my gill pan frequently. This is one of my favorite pans! Let food cook thoroughly on the down side before flipping or it definitely stick. That is true of all cast pans. Lodge is made in the USA! I would advise to continue to add to the seasoning for several uses though.

It's Lodge Cast Iron the Cadillac of old school cast iron cookware. Cooks beautiful with perfect heat distribution on my old kitchen stove's electric elements. Two sirloin steaks in sear until they no longer stick flip and sear other side when they unstuck you have two perfect medium rare steaks with beautiful wide char-grilled marks. Of course you also have to have the steaks a certain thickness and know exactly how hot to get the grilling skillet, sorry I can't give up all my secrets. :o)

This is one practical pan which can only be described as nothing but par excellence. I like the way it grills steaks as if the steaks were grilled on an outdoor grill showing the grill marks. Try grilling salmon steaks on this pan -- it's like the so-called marriage made in heaven
This pan is an energy saver as it takes very little electric or gas to heat. Be sure to use low settings and as for the cost of the pan what more could you ask for. You can also place this pan in the oven.
This pan will improve with age and become an heirloom with value. Therefore I highly recommend this pan which was made by an outstanding American manufacturer.

I wanted a heavy duty cast iron grill with ridges, and this was the perfect choice. It is heavy, but all that iron makes for good heat distribution, and you can turn your burner off and it keeps grilling for ten minutes. I just bought mine today. Large enough for 2 ribeye steaks. Nice grill marks! Not too hard to clean at all with hot water, a scotch pad, and NO soap, as directed.

Bought this for camping but it was too heavy for me to lift easily. We did not end up taking it to camp after testing it at home since we were concerned it would break our dual burner Coleman camp stove. If you are looking for an extremely heavy grill pan, this would be great for you.

I like this grill pan because it's cast iron; grills just enough for 2 people (without having to fire up the outdoor grill); gives great taste to grilled veggies and comes pre-seasoned! Easy clean-up: w/ warm water (carefully)while still hot (no soap); scrub residuals off; dry & evaporate water on burner; then rub on a little oil to reseal and prevent rust! Sounds like a lot to do but just takes a few minutes!

I bought this product from the store and before I even used it, it rusted on the bottom for water getting in the cabinet. I figured it was no big deal until I cooked in it and washed it; completely rusted on one side of the pan. UGH!!! I was so upset by this b/c I grew up watching my grandparents and parents using cast iron pans and they NEVER rusted.
