After five different can openers, I finally got the kind I wanted and needed. Fancy new manual openers and a wall mount electric one still made can opening for the 80 year old man too difficult. This smooth touch openers makes it so easy and I love that I can use the top to seal the can right back up. Wow! ed

This specialty opener - it opens the cans by the side rather than the traditional top - is a great value. It is extremely quiet, does not require cleaning as it never touches the products and is simple to use. We had seen cans opened this way & liked the lack of sharp edges produced. Also there is no spilling or drop of metal shards into the newly opened can. It seems that the top can actually be used to cover the opened can although that isn't mentioned in the documentation and may not be a recommended procedure.
This makes opening cans a pleasure. A real bargain at under $30.

The can opener performs as advertised 50 percent of the time depending on the size of the can.
The larger the can, the greater the liklihood that the can opener won't operate correctly and that a hand opener will be needed to complete the job.

it took me a minute the can was opened because i am used to the old fashioned can opener but i simply love that i do not have to worry about cutting my hand nor the garbage bag being ripped because of sharp edges.

I have had this Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch Can opener for 10 years. It is excellent! This special opener ,opens cans with out endangering me or my sweet little grandchildren. It cuts the lids off of cans so smooth you can seal the can up with the same lid.I love this product and would recommend it to anyone. I love giving them as house warming gifts. I always get that happy call,after they have used it. It's not just another can opener,this one is special!

I love the idea of it. It only works about 30% of the time. It doesn't make any difference what size of can. My husband bought a handheld can opener so he could open the cans that I could. I replaced it thinking maybe the blade was bad. NOPE that wasn't it. This thing just won't open cans, no matter how many times it goes around. And the metal shaving get everywhere.

Quiet operation. Appreciate the side cutting feature. No more cut fingers on sharp lid edges. The lid can be placed back onto the remainer of the can's contents for refrigeration. We've had it for about a week and so far I can't see any down sides to this selection.
