I picked up these solar bug killer lights and immediately noticed they were very lightweight, a cheaper plastic base and cover. No assembly required, so that was easy, and it came with the batteries already installed, which was nice. I set them out on my deck for the required 8-12 hours of "charging" by the sunlight, and the first evening after they charged, I looked outside to see how they were working, and I could barely see the purple light! OK, I thought, maybe they just need a few more days of charging in the sun. Well, it's been about a week now, and they are STILL giving off a very dull purple light and I haven't seen or heard them kill a single bug!!! They make a nice decoration on my deck, but, as far as functionality and usefulness, I find them very disappointing!

Overpriced for what you get

I've never used solar or outdoor ground lights before. Rechargeable batteries are included and the lights seem to charge easily in normal conditions. The only negative is that the lights are not very bright. I would prefer they be twice as bright, but only 1 AA rechargeable battery is used (maybe if the light was designed to use 2 batteries, the results would be better). I have not tried the UV light to see if insects are attracted. These are overpriced for the light they provide.

I bought the item online, and the delivery was fast. I'm currently using the light set for my Guinea Pigs cages. I've hung them on the outside of the cage near their food dish. I notice that there are little nets (bugs). They are also irritating my parakeets. So far I've notice less bugs, but can't tell if the lights are actually killing the bugs. I'm going to continue testing them to see how they work. It's been 1 week, and I see a little improvement.

I bought this product knowing it's not the best, I put it in the backyard, you can hardly see the purple light, the bugs are flying at a few feet away and not attracted to it's weak light. It looks nice though!

both lites worked first day. Second day, only 1 lite worked. Third day, neither lite will charge or work. Don't waste your money on this product

I like these lights but cannot tell if they are skilling any bugs. They are very kid friendly so they don't make any zap noise if a mosquito gets in one. They switch over to regular yellowish light that is pretty although not very bright.

I wasn't sure that this was doing anything but looking pretty until I went to write this review. I started writing this and decided to take a closer look at the light first. I was amazed to find there are actually dead bugs on the grid. I had started to think that this did not work as it was described because I had not seen any bugs on it until I looked up close.
So I get to enjoy the pretty purple light and know that it is getting rid of some bugs at the same time.
I would recommend these to a friend.
