this is a heavy duty piece of cookware and I look forward to using it for canning. I got it specifically for this reason, so time will tell if it works well or not, but I don't see why not. It is made very durable and is beautiful stainless.

I had a 16 quart pressure for 30 years and the handles broke. Since then I had purchased another with the gage on top, the one that looks like it belongs on the instrument panel in an airplane. That was all that was available at the time. Well, when I saw this Presto 16 quart without that gauge, I was elated as it was like the first one I had for 30 years. I love it. It is very strong and I'm able to cook the quantity that I want without having to use 2 pressure cookers as in the past. Presto is a leader for pressure cookers, insuring efficiency, safety, affordability and convenience. This is a wonderful product!

I have only owned this Pressure Canner/Cooker a short time, but I have already canned 12 quarts of Chile and 12 quarts of Stuffed Pepper Soup with no problems. The design is extremely simple and effective. I like the size of the Pressure Canner; it allows me to can seven (7) quart jars at a time.

It has been a long time since I used a pressure cooker (like 30 years) and it was a gauge type. I must say I really like this weight type better. I was worried I would not be able to tell when it was "rocking" at the correct speed but it didn't take long to figure out. I found the instruction booklet fairly easy to follow too. I did the test run using water only as they suggested so I could see how it operated and then I canned some carrots and they came out great. I plan on using it for canning my green beans out of the garden this year instead of freezing them as I have been doing. I can hardly wait to try it out on them!

I'm from the south, and when peanut season arrives, it's boiling time. However, with this cooker, instead of 2 1/2 hours, I can cook the peanuts in about 75 minutes. If I was from the north I could put them in the oven and turn them in to tree bark (parched). This cooker is a great buy. Walmart was very quick with shipment and can reccomend them highly.

Bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She has done a lot of canning this week. She is very pleased with it. Good size for someone who is "vertically challenged" as she is only 5'. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. I bought it because of the recommendations on this product. Happy canning!! :) Also, she has a smooth top stove and it works fine on it with no danger of harming the stove.

we bought this for both water and pressurized canning. It works great. the only down side we can find ( and it's not really a down side if you only use it for pressure canning) is that you can't use it to water bath can quart jars - it isn't deep enough to cover them in water , but it does pints just fine. that being said, it is great for pressure canning quarts and pints. I'd imagine it would do well as a pressure cooker, but haven't tried it yet.

I have a larger one of another brand and it gives me fits getting the gasket to seal and build pressure. My little Presto is a workhorse! I've had this one 20 years with no problems...I even have a 4 qt. Presto cooker that I received as a wedding gift 37 years ago that I still use on a regular basis...I can't say enough good things about Presto!

I have owned and used my pressure canner for 30 years, same model just alot older . Still using same rubber gasket. I have canned and made many pots of soup with this. It was the best purchase I made years ago , it has outlasted every set of pots and pans I've gone through. Still locks and seals , weights still work, and rock . The black rubber and metal seal on the top are still in place and do what they are suppose to do. I would buy this again !!

Simple and basic pressure canner

No fancy bells and whistles, just a good basic canner. On average this hold around 7 quart jars for me. About 9 pints. Great for small batches at a time. No need to sit and watch a pressure gauge as this one goes purely by the weight you put on the nipple. Fancy gauges are really unneeded and are an extra expense to replace. It's a good idea to have an extra gasket with any pressure canner handy but pressure gauges are just silly.
I was going to order one from this site until I discovered my local Walmart had one in stock already. A good price and value for the small gardener or for someone buying meat in bulk to save money. The pressure gauge on my fancy one went bad and I didn't want to spend fifty bucks on another gauge. I've canned stew meat, veggies, ham and beans, bacon, chicken soup, you name it. Can also be used as a water bath canner.
Very pleased with mine and may purchase another one for large batches. Much better than having to replace pressure gauges every couple of years.

I could not have been more pleased with this canner/cooker. I have only had it a couple of weeks and was canning the day after I bought it. I was around canning my whole life from deer meat to green beans. Time to pass the torch. This canner met and exceeded all of my expectations and look forward to using it for years to come. High quality, capacity and more than a fair price. Canning schedule looks good from here on out. Highly suggest the purchase.
