I bought this for smoothies and it works wonderfully easy to clean if you do so right away. You can drink from the same jar with a straw, so it cuts down on dishes. As for the o ring that every complains about i knew we could buy it easily, though. However, sunbeam claims this product can do different grades of cutting no it can’t it is all or nothing.

Great product with one small flaw., 06/13/2009
By texastina, Pearland, TX
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I purchased this product($25) for making protein smoothies. Every weight loss surgery patient should have one of these. It is half the price of the Bullet ($60)and works just as well to create a smooth beverage.

It is small and compact, easy to clean and easy to travel with. Stores easily in my suitcase and does not take up much room on the counter. It has alot of power to make really smooth smoothies.(I use fresh frozen fruit instead of ice with fresh fruit, doesn't water it down.)

Anyways, there is one small flaw with unit, the gray, rubber o ring inside of chopper screw on cap will eventually give out, break and cause leakage. When mine broke I contacted customer service and they sent me an entire new unit just to get me a replacement cap. I only asked for replacement o rings. They do not have those since components are made all over the world, they only have complete systems. Go figure! They have great customer service and were very pleasant to deal with.

After a few weeks of usage the new units o ring also broke. It cannot handle the tension of continuous screw ons.

My husband took both caps and removed old
o rings, cleaned with soap and water, then cleaned with alcohol and applied a line of bathroom silicone and it has not leaked since.

I have used it to chop cut up veggies, graham crackers for pie crust, oreos for ice cream toppings, guacamole, etc. We use it quite a few times a day,7 days a week and the motor has never failed. Plus I have the backup unit with all it's additional cups/lids just in case.
Note: If you get any leakage in unit, use an old toothbrush with a little water to clean it out of unit while holding it almost upside down, then rinse with clean water while upside down and allow to drip dry upside down. We learned this trick after original o rings broke and leaked and our kids had a little too much in the cups before turning unit on. If you do not clean it out if will begin to stink.

This is the third unit I have purchased in the last six months. One for myself and two as gifts. I told each recipient to bring the cap to my husband when the o ring goes out so he can permanantly fix it. LOL

Great little Mixer/blender, 04/29/2009
By WackyWallyWorldWonder, Central Texas
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

My son uses this to make salsa daily, along with smoothies. He said that he has had problems if he overloads the blending container with ice. He likes that he can make his salsa and put a lid that is made for the blending container on it and store it in the refrigerator. The size of the unit makes it easy for him to store, as it is compact.

Very Satisfied Customer, 02/05/2009
By TheCajunShopper, Paulina LA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I am very happy with this purchase. I have recommended it to others. I bought it specifically to make smoothies and at first sight I thought the containers were small, but they are actually the perfect size and help with portion control. It is very easy to use. It has enough power to chop ice and blend the ingredients very well. Actually, it does an excellent job at a really great price. Clean up is fast and easy too.

Junk, 02/04/2009
By an anonymous customer
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I actually liked it until it died in 6 months. Sunbeam avoids honoring their warranty by making it more hassle than it's worth (I gave up and just threw it out). After it died I bought a magic bullet (at Walmart). The bullet costs like twice as much but it works much better (faster and doesn't miss part of the food). Hopefully it will last longer than the sunbeam.

I got this as a gift for christmas, was excited to get it . But after a few uses the o ring broke and not to happy with the product. If I could find the ring would be great. They should make the ring where it won't break at all.

love love love this item! worth the money!, 07/09/2008
By 2gr8kdz, dublin, OH
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

i wasn't sure if i wanted to buy this item for what i wanted it for, i only wanted to make baby food for my 8 month old. i was looking for something less expensive, and honestly, i got this one on a fluke because the walmart in my area was restocking shelves and i couldn't find the one i wanted (the cheaper one).

so i picked this one up and figured that if i didn't like it, i could always return it. when i got it home, i took it out of the box, pluged it in, washed the container and put the food in there. i couldn't believe how easy it all was, and it did a wonderful job!!!

i had beef and lental beans in the container when i started the kitchen assistan, and i kept it in the down lock possition for about one minute to make sure the meat didn't leave chunks.

then, what i LOVE about this set, is that i just took it off of the actual base, and put it in my fridge!!! there was NO cleanup afterwards cuz the blade is IN the lid of the container, its not in the base like a blender!!! i LOVE that! i didn't have to take the whole machine apart like a blender and i was so happy with it, that i didn't even think twice if i was going to return it or not!

it comes with several containers, large medium and small ones. so u can make all kinds of stuff and just store them in ur fridge.

all in all, this is a WONDERFUL set, and i LOVE IT! i would highly recommend this product to anyone, and trust me, u will love it too! :)

Has Pros and Cons, 05/23/2008
By ILoveTurtles
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I bought this a while back to replace the hamilton beach personal blender we bought for smoothies that i was unsatisfied with. I had no intention on using it for anything else but it does work great for baby food! I have no problem with anything getting caught at the top although i use the small cups more.. if it doesn't work well i add a little water and that does the trick. I like that it is easy to clean. I have had the problem moentioned with the o ring and haven't yet made it to an auto store to get one, but we still use it. The directions do instruct you to check the o ring each use... I can't see using it to chop food or shred cheese.

NOT for grating cheese!, 03/04/2008
By melanieg, manhattan, ks
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I bought the product because it is small and said it could do so many things. I was especially wanting to grate cheeses. All I could do with the product was chop things into tiny pieces. Also the cheese at the top couldn't go down to the blade. It would be great to have if I wanted it for mince things. It is small and comes with a lot of accessories. I just wish it did better with grating cheeses.

By GotTwins, Atlanta, GA

I got this model because it was about $20 cheaper than the rest and needed it to puree food for my twins. The O-ring seal broke the first week but was easily replaced for $1 at an auto parts store. I use this at least 3 times a day for the last 2 months and have never had a problem pureeing everything in the tall containers as long as I added a bit of water so it could slide down to the blades. Do yourself a favor and order an extra of the piece with blades so you'll always have it when the other is dirty.

By Rejean, Wisconsin
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I received this as a Christmas gift for making smoothies, and I really LOVE it! Goes through ice and frozen fruit with no problem. I have tried it for mincing and chopping and I will NOT try that again. Nuts? NO WAY! Dont get it to chop, mince or dice, you WILL be disappointed. If you need a good smoothie maker, this is it. Very easy to use and clean! As long as we have frozen or fresh fruit in the house this will be on the counter.
