Hoover Steamvac Silver Carpet Cleaner

This carpet cleaner is great and worth the price. It did a significantly better job than when I hired professionals to do the job. I followed the instructions and I got excellent results. I have light cream carpets and they are super clean. It uses very little water/sucks up a lot of water so my carpets were dry in no time. Again, about 5 times (or more) faster than when I had my carpets professionally cleaned. I have young kids so it is difficult to keep them off the carpets for long periods of time. I also cleaned my stairs. Although the initial set up was a little tricky, the instructions were very clear. After doing it once...I was able to do it again fast...and with one hand. Great product and I would recommend this to anyone. I am going to by some of the attachments that are sold separately to make the stairs cleaning go a little faster...but not needed.

I bought this product today and just finished cleaning my carpets. It works great! If you have realistic expectations, you will be more than pleased with the results. My carpet hadn't been cleaned in almost two years and had multiple pet stains that had been there for quite some time. I definitely had to put forth some effort to get it clean, but that was my fault for letting it get to that condition. I simply made a point to go over areas several times. The button that gives the spin brush some extra power was very helpful. I would hold that and the sprayer at the same time and then go over extremely soiled areas several times as if I was vacuuming. Other reviews stated that it would stop suctioning and I did have this happen once or twice. It was either because the tank was empty or the reserve tank was not secure. As long as the tank has water and everything is latched in place, it works perfectly and even left the carpet barely damp. I have to say the only thing I wasn't happy with was the attachment for the stairs. It worked, but not nearly as well as I would have liked. A spin brush attachment would make it much better. Regardless, the product is worth every penny. I also recommend buying the 1 year product replacement from Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if they offer it online, but they do at the store and it is only $10.

I decided to clean my downstairs carpet so I vaccuumed the carpet thoroughly and then put my new steam machine to work. My carpet was a beige color from all of the dirt in the fibers and the fibers themselves were dull and flat but now it is back to it's silver color. I had black and rust colored stains that had been in the carpet for years and I hated looking at them. I used pretreater first and then used my Hoover. The carpet looks 5 years younger. The black stains are still visible but now I have to search for them. The high traffic areas came clean with no problems. Please understand that this carpet is ten years old with 5 kids, two adults, 1 cat, and two dogs. Even after vaccuuming twice beforehand, the steamer pulled up all sorts of dirt and the floors were almost completely dry. I am a little concrened that the apolstery tool is junk but hey, the floor unit alone was worth the money to me. The carpet honestly only has been vaccuumed like twice a year over the past ten so you can visualize the gross soil that came up. The spin scrub brushes really do the job and I cannot get over how easy it was to use.

I went out and purchased the last unit in my town today...got back home, but the kids down for a nap, assembled and shampooed my carpets. The carpets were dry before the kids woke up from their nap...JUST AMAZING. With my old Bissel I'd clean at night before bed. The carpet would still be damp in the AM when I woke up! This machine also cleared spots that two professional carpet cleaning companies were unable to clean and I was told these would never come out! Also what a great value!

I've had my Hoover Steam Vac for about 15 years now and the hose to the attachment is leaking, and the hand-held part is cracked. The steam vac is still in perfect condition. I looked to a new hand held assembly to replace, but they no longer make it, so I was hoping that I could find the same product, and here it is. I'm buying another one. There are no fancy bells and whistles, but who cares. Those just break quickly anyway. If this new one lasts 15 years then I'd say that that is a great value. I use mine about every 4 months. Hoover: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Keep on making this reliable product.

It's so unusual to find something that actually performs BETTER than anticipated! What a nice surprise. The reviews were great so I was hopeful. I used to have professional cleaning, but got too expensive and I have pets so accidents happen and wanted to have something in the house. I had rented a Rug Doctor recently, and it did o.k, but was too heavy for me to move around, and what a hassle picking up and taking back. Plus it costs about $40 plus cleaning fluid. This machine is AMAZING! It's very simple to put together and very straight forward to use. I use Rug Doctor's "Oxy Clean" which I highly recommend because it's non-toxic and doesn't have that strong chemical smell and the carpet is left soft and nice. This machine holds at least as much water in the tank as Rug Doctor, but sucks almost all of it back out so carpet is dry in a couple of hours. I also had a flood in my basement a few days after I got it, and it did an amazing job sucking the water up. I was so relieved that I didn't have to call anyone else or get other equipment, it did the job! I have a puppy and a cat and they make the messes animals make, but I just pull out my cleaner, and like magic, all gone! I am not very strong and have a bad back and I can move it all around the house and up and down stairs (remove water tanks to make lightest). I haven't been this happy with a purchase in a long time. Very highly recommend.

I invested multiple times in two different professional carpet cleaning services. My carpet was still stained and there were still odors. Of course, this was due to bringing home a young dog that was not housetrained. After shelling out at least $700, I thought it was becoming ridiculous. I decided to invest in this hoover steamer. My thought was the cost of the steamer was cheaper than paying for one professional cleaning service so what the heck.

The first time I used this steamer, I sucked junk out of my carpet that you would not believe. The dirty water was completely black. Keep in mind that this was less than one week after having my carpet cleaned by a professional cleaning service. It was so effective, I am working on steam cleaning pretty much everything in my house. It has worked well on all carpet areas, tile and really well on area rugs. Some areas I cleaned repeatedly until the dirty water was pretty clear.

Just a suggestion: I have used hoover and bissell cleaning detergent in the machine and both were fine. I have cleaned so much that the detergent has become a little expensive so I have also used a mix of half white vinegar, half water and a couple dashes of baking soda, which has worked great also.

I totally love the Hoover Steamvac! My carpet was flithy due to it being a high traffic area and my apartment is mostly carpet, so it is so hard avoiding getting dirt on the carpet. So I decided that I am tired of flithy carpet and bought the Hoover Steamvac. I had my doubts though, b/c I rented a Rug Doctor before and my carpet looked the same way it did before I started. So I plugged in the Steamvac and started right on the problem areas. Instantly the dirt was lifted and my carpet looks like new. It is truly better than professional carpet cleaners. They could not even get half the stains out that the Steamvac did. I would recommend this product to anyone who has pets, children, or just anyone who loves to have clean carpet.
