This product has exceeded my expectations. I have cleaned my carpets, my sofas, and even my linoleum and tile floors (w/o hard-floor attachment). I would recommend testing an inconspicuous area of the hard-floor to assure that no damage will occur. The spinning brushes can be set to 'high', 'low' or 'off.' The solution tanks are small, so there are lots of trips to the sink, but if the were larger, I would not be able to carry them with ease. Cleaned surfaces dry quickly with the exception to high-pile carpets. I should have purchased this product years ago. I have recommended it to several friends, & everyone should have one. Believe it of not, the sofas were dirtier than the carpets (yuck). The only thing left to test is the longevity. I'll keep you posted. Happy cleaning.

I bought this machine at my local Walmart after reading so many positive reviews. I am living in a 900 square-foot, two bedroom apartment with one cat. I had not cleaned the carpets with anything but a vaccuum for 3 years and there were roughly two dozen stains (from quarter size to footprint size) embedded in the carpet throughout. After using this machine, only one stain remains, although it is now largely faded. It took me five hours, moving steadily along, to make one pass over the whole apartment. I was really impressed with this machine's ability to recover most of the solution it sprays down; the carpet dries really quickly afterward. However, I was sickened with how much sludge I was pouring from the recovery tank into my toilet; my carpet was so gross! Also, make sure to open some windows, this machine got my apartment steamy and humid after only an hour. A possible failing is that the machine's plastic exterior won't inspire the greatest confidence in its durability, but all lower priced vaccuums and steam cleaners seem to be looking that way. After using it though, I believe it's durable enough to last 3 to 5 years, as long as basic/routine maintenance during and after each use is performed. Anyway, I bought it and I'm happy with it; it sure beats living on dirty carpet. Good luck folks!

I researched a lot of carpet vaccuums before purchasing this one, and I purchased it because it seemed to have the best ratings for the price range I was looking in. It was easy to put together, and the directions were very easy to follow for operating. My problem is that it didn't seem to suck any of the water/cleaner solution back up after it sprayed it on my carpet. It took more than a day for it to dry. I'm really not sure if I did something wrong or what, but I ended up returning it, simply because I have a 6 month old at home and I just didn't have the time to figure out why it wasn't working. I decided I'd just have someone come and clean my carpets for now. It seems like it ought to be a pretty good cleaner for the price...I would reccomend it if you're willing to try it out. I really had high expectations for this product, and I'm bummed that it didn't work out for me.

It works well, the slower you use it the better it cleans. Give the cleaner a chance to work by using it slowly. every time I walk in to my living room I go WOW! it looks great. This cleaner is good and met my expectations. the carpet drys fast it only takes an hour.

this is a great product i have used oit many times i have a 15 month old and a dog it definitly gets the smells out of the house it also does not keep the carpet as wet it takes less time for them to dry the only thing i wish was that it was easier to attach the upholstery cleaner to the vac it take some time to figure it out and you do have to empty and fill it a lot but for the price it is well worth it it gets carpets clean

I have to say, this is a very good product the $$ paid for it at Walmart. Thoroughly cleaned my light colored carpets with no problems. I've found that by using boiling hot water (carefull, test for colorfast on dark colored carpets first) with the Hoover carpet cleaning solution works great. Plus, make sure to move the steamvac over the your carpets SLOWLY to maximize the amount of scrubbing time.

OK, So I stood in the store this week trying to decide what features would work the best for me. My #1 criteria was a large water receptacle that was easy to access and clean. I reluctantly decided to go with this model, took it home, put it together and was using it in no time, and, I was thrilled with the finished product as well. My carpets haven't been this clean in ages and they were almost dry when I finished, unlike other shampooers that I've owned. I would highly recommend this one to anyone who might find themselves wondering which one to chose. You will not be disappointed.

I read all the reviews and gave it a shot! I am happy I did. It cleans the carpet almost as well as the professionals and it pays for itself in 2 cleanings! The only thing is that if you want the spinning upholstery attachment, you have to buy the more expensive (same model) not available at wal-mart. But other than that everything is the same. It is a great buy at this price and very easy to use. My only complaint is that the floor cleaner solution is expensive, but yet again, cheaper than a professional!

This is my second Hoover steam cleaner and I still say they do a great job in cleaning the carpets. My first had many more attachments than this one (only one for the furniture). It took around 2 to 3 hours to dry which isn't bad and it made a diiference in my carpets! The only cons I can tell you about are that the power cord is not long enough and not enough cleaning tools. At first I thought it was made kind of cheaply as my other Hoover seems like it can take a beating. Well only time will tell. But I am happy so far.

The Hoover SteamVac Silver is a really easy-to-use, deep cleaner and great for households with children. Tremendous suction leaves carpets clean and dry in less than a day. Cleaning solution tank is a little small, so i recommend buying a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer(under $10) to use as the main source of cleaning solution and using the tank for touchups. I use RugDoctor cleaning solution when Hoover solution is not available and it works great in this machine. I could go on and on about this machine but i won't. All i can say is that for $150 it was a great purchace, i have no regreats.

I kind of thought that because this machine was cheap, it would be far inferior to the rental ones which cost about $800 (I think). I was wrong! We moved into our first home, a fixer upper, and have been remodeling. I have not paid attention to the old carpets much and have just vacuumed them, largely because we are going to replace them. We have 4 cats and a puppy (now dog!) and they have messed the carpets even more ... though we spot cleaned. I looked into renting the blue vacs at about $20 a day or so, which is great value, but having used them before, you don't know if the one you get is good or not. When you figure in having to pick one up and return it the cost is more like $30 and there is time. So we decided to get a deep cleaner. Having looked at the reviews on the internet for Bissell, Dirt Devil and Hoover, we decided on this Hoover. I was also a little bias since in the UK, where I am from originally, we say "I am going to Hoover" rather than "vacuum", since the brand name stuck as the action. We got this cleaner and I can say it is every bit as good as the rental ones and its effectiveness at cleaning our old, worn and stained carpets was astounding. While the rental ones are faster because of more aggressive action and have higher water capacities that make it easier at the time of rental. Owning this vac gives the same results, eliminates the need to collect and return, is on hand should one of our pets have an accident on the carpet and is very quick to set up and run. Our dog chewed a pen leaking blue ink on the carpet and it was removed 6 months later! So I recommend this cleaner. I used it with the Woolite Oxy Clean Pet solution. The combination worked very well and left a pleasant odor.

I really like this carpet cleaner. I have a dog and also 4 children, so I have to clean the carpet often! It always gets the stains out of my carpet every time I use it. It is convienient having 2 tanks also. The hose attachment works really well for my car! It's not near as heavy as my last machine either. The brushes are self propelling so it doesn't work you to death. It sucks up most of the water out of the carpet. It is usually dry within 1 to 2 hours. My living room is really big so the cord really isn't long enough. You have to empty and refill the tanks a lot too, which isn't a problem if you are doing a small area. Overall this is a great cleaner and has saved my carpet!

After researching both Hoover & Bissell for a couple of weeks we decided on the Hoover Steam Vac model #F5915-900 from Walmart. The price was low and the machine worked great. Easy to manuever and the tanks were easy to empty and refill. The machine did not leak and the heating element worked great. The machine did a great job cleaning our carpet that had not been cleaned in three or four years. The key to getting your carpet dry soon after cleaning is to only put cleaning solution on during the first & second pass (depending of the condition of the carpet) and then using only the vaccuum on the third & fourth pass so as to pick up all the remaining liquid. I would highly recommend this unit to a first time user.

The Hoover SteamVac Silver was definitely worth the buy. I was able to steam clean our entire 1100 sq ft apartment in 90 minutes. I did focus in on some areas more than others. I used the concentrated stream on all the high traffic areas which our puppy has marked for us. The carpet is definitely cleaner. The Hoover was able to get all the puppy stains out of the carpet making house training a lot easier. My starting points were dry by the time I finished.

This is my 3rd steam cleaner. The first one was the more expensive Hoover, which cost me over $200. It never worked right and really didn't do much for my carpet. The other one was the cheap Bissell that was about $100. I have berber carpet and was terrible for Berber carpet. I just had my carpet cleaned and my dog developed a UTI. She ended up having 3 accidents on the carpet. I purchased this machine and it not only removed the stains, but it did do a better job than the professional. It removed all the stains that the professionals couldn't. My carpet was pretty stained up from the dog going in and out from outside. It now looks brand new! Awesome machine!!!

This is the first steam vacuum I have ever owned. I have spent the last 7 years either renting or borrowing carpet cleaners. Then my dog got into something and spent a day getting sick all over my house and all the hand cleaning did not remove the stains. So I marched to Walmart and bought this vacuum hoping it would at least make the stains less noticeable because my in-laws are visiting soon. It was easy to assemble, the directions were easy to follow, and I was able to operate it with no problems. I was beyond thrilled when EVERY stain, new and old, disappeared. This carpet has been through 2 kids and 2 dogs. They all went through potty training, illness, and dragging every bit of mud from the backyard that they could. I didn't actually expect it to ever look good again. In fact, I told my husband that I wanted to replace it with laminate. Thanks to this vacuum, I don't need to spend the money on new flooring! I'm sure my husband is even more pleased with it than I am!
