Garmin nuvi 680 Portable GPS with Bluetooth

As a truck driver I use this device everyday, all day long. It's GREAT! The map detail and extra options (such as logging trip info like miles traveled,time stopped/driving/total time, average speed) are a plus. For the professional driver the nuvi 680 has a lot to offer. I wish it would accept multiple waypoints on a single trip, but it's easy enough to get by with the one. I read countless reviews of many GPS units by several manufacturers before puchasing the nuvi 680 and still believe that it was the right one for me. I'm not very impressed with the MSN direct service primarily because of the reception. It really only works around major cities. When it is working, it can give you some usefull info such as traffic and weather. As for the weather, it will give you a projected forecast for where you are but will only give you current conditions for other cities. For my situation, I would like to know what the weather might be like when I get to where I'm going. As for the gas prices, I don't really have any opportunities to utilize that service because it only list the price of regular gasoline (not diesel). I'm glad the unit came with a free year of the MSN service so it gives me plenty of time to decide whether or not to renew it. As of right now, I probably won't. Many of the reviews I read before making my purchase mentioned the weakness of the FM transmitter. I have to agree that it should be stronger; however, my radio has an auxillary input jack on the front that eliminates the need for the FM transmitter. A simple $6 cable from an electronics store will plug into the aux. jack and then into the headphone jack on the nuvi 680. This sends the audio straight to the radio without static or the need to change radio stations. The bluetooth phone feature is great and definitely worth the money. The MP3 function in nice and easy to use. The touch screen is very nice and easy to use. It has adjustments for the sensitivity but I haven't had to change anything. The backlight of the screen changes from the daylight to night setting and back automatically and it seems to detect the change in lighting conditions makes this adjustment perfectly everyday. The accessories that came with the nuvi 680 are great. It comes with everything you need. The dash disk with the suction cup mount works great and enabled me to mount the unit within arms reach as the windshield in my truck is too far away. The nuvi 680 also comes with the power cords for not just the car but also the house as well as the USB cable (regular size on one end and mini USB on the other) for connecting to the computer. The USB cable alone is a $20 value. The leather case which is also included in nicely made and protects the unit well when removed from your vehicle. Overall, I love the nuvi 680. The very few areas I would like to see improved upon are still greatly outweighed by all the positive ones.
