The Tramontina 3-quart cast iron covered braiser is durable and contains a porcelain interior for ease of cooking. It's also a great serving piece, and can go from stovetop to oven to the table in a flash, keeping food hot.

I can't imagine finding as good a value anywhere. I love my two Tramontina porcelain-covered cast iron utensils and am considering buying a third. Having the site-to-store option allowed me to save money on delivery, too.

This braiser is just great. Price/performance makes it unbeatable. Although it lacks the refined finish of some higher end enameled cast iron, it is not too far behind. I have used mine to braise and for stir frys and fried foods and it has performed perfectly. It is a good everyday pan. The enamel is tough and has not shown signs of wear and the pan looks good. I have used it in my oven, my gas cooktop as well as my induction cooktop and have found it to perform great. Performance is close to my la crueset, and at 1/5 the cost. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good enameled cast iron piece and is not hung up on a cache name brand.

I'd purchased the other products in this line and was surprised to actually find this one in my local Wal-Mart store so of course I snapped it up because it was out of stock on-line. I was even more shocked when the associate rang it up for $15 until I noticed that the knob was missing. I figured it's still a good buy and I could get a replacement. I emailed Tramontina customer service for a replacement and received a reply within 8 hours and a replacement knob within 3 - 4 days. I was shocked, impressed, and very happy.
However, even though I didn't have a knob, I'd temporarily taken the knob off of the 6.5 quart dutch oven and used on the braiser so that I could test this new pan with braised chicken with thyme, garlic, ginger, onions, carrots and white wine. To say that this cooker was wonderful is an understatement. Chicken browned very well, created a good fond, and needed very little additional oil (maybe 1 tablespoon). Cleanup was really easy.
The only thing I would suggest is when seasoning rim of pan and lid, turn the oiled portion of these items face down in the oven so that as the oil runs once hot, it drips onto a pan or pad below instead of running onto the cookware.
I would definitely recommend this pan.

Tramotina line of enameled cast iron is fabulous. Very heavy weight and textured on inside of lid to really collect those liquids as it cooks. Just like Grandma used to use.

This is a fine braiser. The lid also fits Tramontina 11-3/4" sauté pan (skillet), which is sold separately, which I also own. If you only buy one enamel cast iron pot, get this one. I will also be buying these for my kids. I have cooked chicken breasts, thighs, steaks, beef patties, etc. in this braiser, and they are mighty fine! Highly recommended. It's heavy because it's cast iron! The interior enamel porcelain coating is perfect. I through out all my teflon-coated pots. I now only use enamel cast iron pots.

This cookware is the real deal. Best used in slow oven roasting type cooking, this type of cookware delivers exactly the same performance as the fine French version of the same iron-enamel product. Good for winter time hearty stews and just as good at handling elegant simple country French style beef and chicken dishes. Pots clean easily. Pots are heavy duty and thus heavy to handle. Green enamel is fine... several different colors to choose from would be nice. Good pots. Good value. These pots will stand up to years of heavy use.

I love it but it does have one problem--it is very heavy. It retains heat, cooks evenly, and is easy to clean.Use low heat and oil the pan before each use. I made scalloped potatoes for a pot luck and they stayed warm thrugh out the meal, did not burn on the bottom or sides and I baked them in the oven
