I thought after punching in your code at the key-pad that the pins would automatically engage/disengaged...this is not the case. The key-pad simply allows you to use the hard key to disengage the pins. In this case, why not substitute the key hole with a handle.

Great product, I love this safe. After reading all of the reviews for this product I determined it was a good safe, but that Walmarts transportation services are seriously lacking. There was barely one bad review for this product during all of my research...pertaining to the quality of the actual product, but there were TONS of bad reviews that it arrived dented and dinged and even broken.
So I decided to purchase the product and pick it up myself at the store. When I arrived the safe was still in the office area and hadn't even been put away for storage yet. I informed the clerk at the Germantown (Maryland) Walmart that I had read several bad reviews about the safe showing up dented and wanted to take it out of the box to examine the safe before I took it home. She was more than accomodating and even left to find a box cutter for me. She found another associate to help me load it into my truck also.
This was probably one of th best buying experiences I have ever had at a Walmart...and the safe it fantastic to boot.
Instructions were easy to follow and all of three keys were included (also checked this due to another bad review). I have zero complaints about the safe and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a medium-sized safe for home use.

This Safe is the best in its category, I look at four other safes and liked this one, this model is the quite large inside and is fireproof. The locking system works vary well and it comes with a over ride key just in case I recommend this product.

The safe seems very well made and is heavy enough that you won't have to worry about someone running off with it, even though it comes with mounting hardware and instructions for mounting it to the floor.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the shelf, although metal, slides around on the mounting clips and doesn't fit as snugly as it could. Additionally, the pull-out drawer is just a cheesy plastic tray that also wobbles around on its mounting rails. Still though, the safe is very roomy inside and overall, I'm pleased with what I got for the money.
I had it shipped site to store which saves the high cost of shipping to the door. However, Wal-Mart gets a failing grade for shipment as the exterior of the safe was dented. Not enough to effect the functionality, but it was disappointing to say the least.

Safe was an excellent purchase. Holds everything I expected (small weapon/imprtant paperwork/keys) and more. Though it is light enough for two people, I put weights and bricks inside to keep it in place.

One of the other comments on this safe indicated that it can be bolted to the floor, which is why I purchased this model. The 2118DF cannot be bolted to the floor, which is disappointing. Other than that, it seems to be a solid, well-built safe.

Safe is excellent for what I orignally intended. Since this was my first safe, I wasn't sure how big it needed to be. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have gotten a larger one.
This one is very easy to progam your combination or change your combination. Also, it is simple to operate. Love it.

The programming feature makes it very simple to do. The only issue, and it's one you obviously would expect, is that it is very heavy. I did pick it up and move it on my own, but I am a big man. It isn't easy to lift as it is very sleek and bulky and I had trouble getting my arms around it and finding a grip.
That said, if I had that much trouble, I doubt anyone else plans on trying to carry this thing away without some serious help.
I'm happy with it and would recommend it to someone else.

Decent safe. Only 2 small locking bars opposite hinge. Key required to open. One key will open without using digital pad. One key will open with digital pad combination. Cannot open with digital combination only. Only weighs 135 pounds according to my scales. The official description on Walmart.com had it listed at 167 pounds. One adjustable sheetmetal shelf and one nonadjustable, 2 inch deep, plastic sliding tray at top of interior.

Safe is very strong and heavy, more room than I anticipated, and allowed me to eliminate 2 strong boxes full of papers and still have considerable room in the safe. Like the locking process and the backup in case you forget the code or something else happens. Overall feel like the price was reasonable and the product is perfect for our needs.

Arrived with the front cover around battery cover chipped. It was so heavy and too much of a hassle to return and the damage did not interfere with the operation so i kept it. Other than that I love it. It is solid heavy and aesthetically pleasing...but for the chip. All in all I am pleased and hope they package it better with more protection...I would recommend.

We love it! The safe was delivered promptly to our driveway. It was in perfect condition. It's heavy, but two of us got it up the stairs. Setup was easy. No problems with setting combination for safe. It holds all of our valuables, with room for more. Easy to operate. I'm glad our important documents are now safe in a fire resistant safe. Couldn't be more pleased!

We have had this safe for about two months. It arrived undamaged, the setup was easy and the functionality of it is great. We use it on a daily basis and have had no problems at all. The only negative thing is that this particular model cannot be bolted down to anything without sacrificing its fireproof feature. Although, we would say, at approximately 150 pounds, it is heavy enough that it will not be carted away easily by your average thief. We did a lot of research and this was the best price on a basic safe for this size. Also, the $0.97 delivery to home provided was an exceptional offer.
