Vizio 50" Plasma HDTV with Digital Tuner, VP50

What a great tv. PIcture quality in HD is amazing.
TV weighs 123 lbs. so you need a van to pick-up
the tv at walmart. MY suggestion is buy it online
and have them deliver it.

All I can say is WOW. What a great HDTV.

My husband just had to have a 50", I finally gave in when we saw it on sale for 998 in the store. And I think it was one of the best things we have ever bought from walmart. The picture is great and we love having people over to watch football games.

After my 42 inch Rear Projection TV went out, I went to Wal-Mart in search of a new one. I found this one sitting in the box on the floor next to the checkout. I bought it without doing much research because we needed a TV ASAP. I was VERY pleased once I got it home. Great picture, sleek design, good sound, easy to set up, easy to use, etc. etc. I can't wait to watch the BCS Championship on this one!!!

I had been looking at plasma tv's for several months and just about all of the reviews showed that Vizio was the best value of all of the major brands. They said that picture quality is not as good as the others but the cost savings more than made up the difference.
I was going to buy the tv at $1398 but ended up bouying the tv on a Friday "unadvertised special" that Wal-Mart was doing for only $998 and couldn't be happier.
I have many friends that have spent $1800+ on their plasma tv's and I would easily argue that this tv is just as good as their more expensive models. I spent a little more money on better HDMI and digital coax audio cables and maybe that was the difference?
I am extremely pleased with their product and would highly reccommend it to anyone. It was easy to set up and even easier to use. I am still getting familiar with HD shows but the difference is amazing - even at 720p.
I bought a Phillips DVD Recorder that upconverts picture quality to 1080p so even DVD's are a pleasure to watch! I would also get a battery back-up in case the power shuts off at your house. I found one at Wal-Mart for $45 or so. I was told that a power outage while the tv is on is the worst thing for it and a battery back-up would eliminate that issue if you were watching tv and the electricity shuts off you can at least power the tv off so it doesn't mess up anything.

The 50 inch Vizio is a must for any sports fan. The picture in HD feels like you are actually at the game. The price is great and it is perfect from all angles. PERFECT!

was going to wait a year and buy a vizio 42, but low and behold walmart had a secret shopper sale and I got a 50 inch plasma for $998. That was a great deal. I love the tv. You can really see the detail on actors on tv, kept switching back on nbc hd to non hd and wow. I can see why actors and actress dont like it. It shows all their faults. It hooked up to dvd and cable right out of the box. Not much else to do but watch and enjoy

Bought this online through "site to store" to save shipping and possibly waiting all day for a delivery that may or may not happen when they say.

TV is very easy to set up and it didn't need a lot (if any) tweaking to have a very good picture on HD stations. It was a little bit more expensive at Walmart than I could have gotten elsewhere, but their warranty is much cheaper than elsewhere including directly through Vizio so the total price ended up less here.(I got the 3 year warranty and I think one would be crazy not to on a big flat screen especcially plasma as every once in a while there's a lemon that blows up at some point)

I've only had it a week and I just had Fios installed yesterday. The only feature I've come across that I think could be bettter is the options for changing the screen aspect ratio depending on what your input is. My other TV the screen can be adjusted and stretched in a lot of different ways to end up with the biggest picture possible (if you wish, some don't like the distortion) The Vizio only has 3 options that I've been able to find and in many cases, your choice is either not using a lot of the screen or cutting off a lot of the picture. It does have a zooming option which will make the picture fill more of the screen, but you lose significant resolution which doesn't happen for some reason when you use one of the preset aspect ratios, even if it is in effect zooming and making the picture larger.

All in all, myself and others I know that have Vizios are very happy with them, especially considering the savings over similar TV's from "bigger" name brands.
