Coleman Camp Kitchen: it's not just for camping!, 10/14/2009
By piusg, Wellington, FL
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This is an interesting case of using a product for something it was not originally intended for. I don't camp, and I personally think the great outdoors would be a whole lot better if they screened it in and put it under A/C. But before you start booing...

I'm a Karaoke host, and was tired of using a different table at each different venue I encountered. So I started casting around for a portable folding table to use on my gigs, and came across this--and let me tell you: it works FANTASTIC for DJ-ing and Karaoke!

My full rig consists of a laptop computer with an external hard drive (for all the tunes), a Mackie 808S powered mixing console, three JBL loudspeakers, a set of Shure wireless microphones, and a shure wired mic for myself. I'm telling you, it's as if this camping kitchen was designed from the ground up for DJ/KJ duty.

My Mackie 808S mounts where you would normally put your propane stove, skewed a bit towards me. The tabletop is fantastic, and its slick, pebbled surface lets me use my optical mouse without a pad. There's plenty of room for my tip jar and fan. There are all kinds of spindly legs to neatly wrap my cables around so they don't get tangled and singers don't trip on them. The net works well for holding the external drive and storing the microphones between acts. I even utilize the lantern holder base to mount a 10" gooseneck stand for my wired mic, allowing me to keep my hands free to run the board and the PC at once and still emcee the show.

And nothing can beat the way it folds up into that tiny little suitcase, taking up minimal space in my truck.

I've been using my Coleman camp stove for more than a year; I've read other reviews here that complain about the durability of this product--but I put it through rigorous use two to three times a week for gigs, and it's as rugged as all get-out--in and out of the truck, loaded up with heavy gear, and wrapped with cables. Bottom line: if you're able to break this thing, you're doing something really, really wrong.

This table is a KJ/DJ's dream come true. I'm sorry though that I have never once actually used it for camping!

This product is so easy to use & put together. I love the compact-ness for easy transportation & storage. I was able to assemble it in the dark. It worked great for a weekend of camping. You've got a spot for the camping stove, a hook for a lantern, spots for your utensils. I loved this item and can't wait to use it again.

This fold out camping table was easy to set and take down. It was sturdy and served it's purpose well. I really like how compact the table folds up to. I also like the netting underneath the table for a general catch all.

This allows you to move your stove off the table. It also has a place to hang the lantern and utensils. Gives a stable prep area and storage. All my friends ask where I got it and say that they are getting one as well.

You can never have enough counter / table space while camping. We took this to the Adirondacks with our friends who were quite impressed with it. Not only that but it is extremely helpful. It kept the picnic table clear from cooking and dishes and food prep as well as the lantern. Sturdy and tall - not afraid of breaking it. Definitely recommend this product.

Kinda like this thing!, 08/06/2009
By KatLikesToCamp, Sacramento, CA
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I purchased this because I was tired of trying to find areas in our campsite to store utensils, place the stove, etc. It's not that big but holds everything quite nicely. My friend set it up for me and said it was easy to assemble. The only drawback I see is that the area where you put your stove isn't wide enough to accomodate a place for the fuel canister to rest on; it just sort of hangs there. To me I think the canister should have some support underneath it. Overall, I like the little kitchen and I received a lot of positive comments from other campers about it!

Review 13 for Coleman Pack-Away Camp Kitchen

Fantastic, 08/05/2009
By silverbug, Wisconsin
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I absolutely love this camp kitchen, and it has exceded my expectations I had based on reviews here. I researched this exact camp kitchen with other online retailers and have seen it selling for as much as $99.99. The Walmart price cannot be beat. I feel that this is a camping essential for my family and I just love it. It makes cooking a breeze. It's darn near like working at home to have so much surface space to prep food at, set things on and get organized with. The issue of the stove side not supporting the propane tank is real, however, if you have a standard design, Coleman stove, there are two options to make this a non issue. 1) Position the camp kitchen at one end of the picnic table and use the table to prop up the propane tank. 2) (this is what we did on our camping trip last week) push your stove back a hair further on the support bars, angle it ever so slightly (you can barely notice that the stove is slanted on the supports) and use the propane tube to support the whole thing. It worked GREAT with only a few slips when I was cleaning and the stove was not in use. No hassles, and man, it was so much more fun to cook! GREAT value. Treat it respectfully, as it's lightweight for good reason...camping gear weight adds up quickly. I wouldn't say this is rugged in terms of transporting it, but it sure holds up well to heavy cooking/kitchen duty use.

I've already recommended this to a friend, and if you're even considering it, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Review 15 for Coleman Pack-Away Camp Kitchen

Camp Kitchen, 08/02/2009
By NorthVT
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Overall we are very happy with the Coleman Pack-Away Camp Kitchen. When placing our small barbecue grill on the right side supports we found when lighted the non-slip covering burned, so we extended the grill support legs and velcroed them to the Kitchen supports, thus raising the hot grill up. This seemed to work fine and still provided support. This problem should be addressed by Coleman and not require a user modification. The Kitchen framework is also very light weight so care must be takem as the bracing could bend easily. Bottom line - this Kitchen provides us with a very compact work area for grilling when we are camping.

We just returned from a camping trip in northern California. It was our first opportunity to use our new pack away camp kitchen. It was everything we'd hope it would be and more. Very easy to put up and very convenient for cooking, preparing meals and dish washing. We used the tool hanger as a paper towel holder. Using this set up gave us much more room on our picnic table for eating, playing cards etc. We love how it packs up so easily and doesn't take up much space. Can't wait to go camping again and use this great kitchen set up.

THIS TABLE ROCKS!!!, 07/24/2009

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

WE JUST USED IT ON A 5 DAY CAMPING TRIP AND IT WAS HANDY! IT WAS EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND HELD OUR CAMPSTOVE PERFECTLY. I PUT OUR SPICES, SOME UTENSILS, COFFEE FILTERS, AND PAPER TOWELS IN THE LITTLE NET UNDER THE TABLE, WHICH WAS GREAT FOR QUICK ACCESS. THE LANTERN HUNG PERFECTLY OVER THE AREA FOR AFTER DARK COOKING AND OUR WINE GLASSES HUNG NICELY ON THE UTENSIL HOOKS. THE TOP IS THE CASE AND EVERYTHING FITS IN EASILY. THE ONLY FLAW I CAN FIND IS THE TOP STARTED TO WARP AROUND THE EDGES AFTER BEING RAINED ON FOR AN ENTIRE DAY. SO COVERING UP IN RAIN OR SNOW MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA.
