I purchased this camcorder to record my kids games so my dad would be able to see them play. It is very easy to use and takes great video. I am not for sure the ease of downloading to a DVD. You need a fire wire which is not included and this connection on your computer. This has been the only downfall so far, otherwise I am very satisfied.

I think the ZR850 is a great value for the price. I have been tyring it out and having great luck with it. It has great video's and good pics. I'm still trying to figure out all the settings. The battery doesn't last very long (as expected) in below zero temps outside. My hands are shaky so some of the videos are a little blurry at times but, I don't think that it is the camera (just me not being able to hold still enough). I would definitely recommend this camcorder for other buyers.

This is a really neat camera. You have a digital camera and a camcorder, all in one. It is compact, so it is easy to take anywhere. The price is reasonable, considering the Canon name and all the features it has. I think it is a great addition to technology!

This is a very user friendly camera, in both of its modes; Easy mode and Program mode. Have used it enough to understand all of its buttons. Have not had a chance to use the software for the computer to down load the video on my compter to edit the footage yet? But am sure it will do what I need it to do. For the money you can't go wrong, I am a loyal Canon buyer and put my trust in their products. The only thing that is not as good as I thought it would be is the built in digital camera, with no flash you have to have plenty available light for the still photographs. But it is a video camera and that is why I bought it. My suggestion would be that you buy a seprate digital camera if that is what you are looking for. Still an all around great video camera.

I bought this Camcorder for my father and he loved the funcionality. The menus are easy to navigate and the Picture is sharp and clear. My HUGE gripe with this Camera is the sound. Since the Microphone is located too close to the motor it picks up all the noise. This very noticable hissing sound will be heard in all your movies. I'd recomend looking for another.

I normally take video-clips through my digital camera and enjoyed editing the clips with my photos. That's when I decided to buy a separate camcorder for more post production editing fun. The picture quality is amazing for outdoors, everything comes out crisp and clear. Filming indoors is completely different, it has a yellow-ish tone and not as clear as I would like. If you are planning on doing some editing on your computer, you will need to buy a separate plug for the camcorder. AND maybe even install a special outlet on your computer. I didn't take this approach, I basically record the video on my DVD player and then upload it to my computer. It's an extra step but at least that's what I have available for me right now. In the future, I may upgrade that option. Overall, the camcorder is easy to use.

This product was purchased to replace a Sony product I received as a gift. Sony had such horrific customer service that I gave up and said no more Sony! This is an extremely easy camera to use! It is very high quality and downloads to the computer quickly and easily. I highly recommend this product!
