i never owned a camcorder. i work alot with digital cameras and have no problem understanding how to work technology. the reason for purchasing this particular camcorder was a 'product review' stating that it was easy to use. just take out of box and use. first, the camera did not come with a mini tape or sd card so those had to be purchased, so you can not take out of the box and use. the instruction booklet is very poorly written and questions that need to be answered are not addressed in the booklet. the camcorder is just laying on a desk gathering dust. i would never buy another one or would i recommend this to a first time buyer. all i want to do is record old vcr tapes from the tv to camcorder so i can put in computer and copy to cd. i am very disappointed and disgusted with my purchase.

i bought this last month after reading all about it as well as all the great reviews...amazing cam..works great in low light as well...sound is great and easy to use. This camcorder does everything and more than i expected. I coudnt be more pleased with it. If you lookin for one, get this one. its small, lightweight and does everything ya need ...a wonderful product at a wonderful price.

I really like this camcorder. I'm learning to use it and it's seems very user friendly. It does have alot of useful features and is very small and will fit in my hand. I am traveling to Italy, Greece & Croatia next month on vacation and needed something small that will take quality video as a sovenir of my trip. It is a very good buy for the money. I also appreciated that it not only has the DV to record video, but also it will take a SDHC card (which I purchased for around $40) that you can use for still shots or video if need be.

The ordering of the Canon ZR830 MiniDV through the WalMart On-Site Program went without a hitch. Product was at the store within the time period stated. The camera was easy to understand and I had it up and running in a short time. My wife took the camera to Seattle, WA and took a movie in the Mt. Rainer National Park. Although the day was a bit foggy, the movie turned out well. As some other people have stated because it doesn't have a light, the clarity indoors will be marginal, unless the lighting indoors is sufficient (this is true with any movie camera). The small built-in microphone has no problem picking up the sound and the audio is good on the tape and the DVD disk. Using a firewire connection PCIMIA card in my laptop and its burning software, I had no trouble downloading the digital tape directly to a DVD+R disk. Results were very good. For a digicam under $300, the Canon ZR830 works well and I can recommend it.

We've loved it so far. Easy to transfer to VHS. Haven't bought the IEEE 1094 cord yet for the computer. Just make sure to have people speak up when talking to the camera, as voices are obviously harder to pick up when they're quiet. Very easy to use.

I have only started to learn how to use the camcorder, but it seems to have a lot of additional functions. I like the stabilizing feature, which I did not have in my previous camcorder. The only thing I had trouble with was how to use the camera with a memory card. The instructions do not do a good job explaining that you need to turn on certain functions to make it work.

I bought this product for my daughter- she loves it. She called a friend who knows about this type of product for his job-and he gave it more than a thumbs up!! I am a novice with using a video camera. It is easy to use and also takes still photos. The camera has many bells and whistles but I am able to use the more simple functions and have fun. Just played a film today on my TV and was pleased. It is good in low light, night, and etc. No flash seems necessary for me. I rate this camera an excellent buy for the money. I recommend it to others.

Never used a camcorder before. Just started grad school and need to video counseling sessions. This camcorder is easy to use-from installing the battery and mini dv cassette, to recording and playback. There are many bells and whistles, but you don't need to use them in order to get a great recording. Also enjoying recording my dog's funniest moments and turning them into a dvd to send my mom who lives across the country. Affordable and exceeded my expectations in ease of use.

This is a great little camcorder This is the first camcorder I have ever used and it is very easy to use and get what I consider to be good to great results. the only draw back is the image stabelization at full zoom had a hard time keeping still at 35X that is to be understood. Over all it is a great first camcorder for the average Joe.

First I thought I had gotten the one with the light; however, that is the 850 not the 830. I was satisfied with the overall product. I still have not used the night time record setting to accuratly judge that. However, I am satisfied so far with the capabilities of the camcorder. I don't know if it is me or if it is working like it should but I think I am having trouble using the 1000x zoom. It is possible that it is only good for the digital camera setting and not the camcorder setting but I seem to be getting the 300x good. I am still learning and hopefull I can adjust my review later.
