I bought this system for the 15 x 15 office I work in. The eight of us pitched in to buy it. There are two or three of us each shift. We listen to music pretty much 24/7, so the unit is almost always on. We range in ages from 25 to 65 so our musical tastes vary. We listen to everything from country to jazz to rock with the help of our satellite radio. The sound quality is perfect and it is plenty loud enough. After I hung the speakers and ran the wire through the ceiling tiles, it took about five minutes to hook up. Mind you, we did not hook a tv up to it. I did have to bring one in to adjust the speakers via the video out. I wish the wire to the subwoofer was longer because we have the system on a shelf six feet off the ground which limits the placement of the woofer. Other than that, we are all very satisfied with it.

I got this product about a month ago, I had a bit of trouble setting it up since like many others have said, the wires are a bit short. Now my living area isn't large but it was large enough that one speaker didn't reach the area I wanted it to be. As far as sound... It actually does sound really good. When I watch a DVD or even play my iPhone, yes my iPhone : ), it sounds great. Yet when I watch tv, I feel like I constantly have to raise the volume, and I don't get the sound I would have hoped for. I'm still trying to figure out whether this is an issue with the product or the cable output. Either way I am satisfied with this product and for the price it was worth getting. Also on a side note I did get my delivery faster than expected.

I used the online option for ordering and having the unit shipped to my home for only $10 more as a holiday special. It took 2 weeks to arrive, a bit long but great for the price and convenience factor.
The setup was VERY easy, wires are long enough for my medium sized room. Connections are good, but lacks an OPTICAL AUDIO IN so I bought a COAXIAL CONVERTER for $20 (elsewhere online) to hook up digital sound from my Dish service. The instructions need to do a better job of explaining how to set-up the SPEAKER DELAY and the individual SPEAKER VOLUME, this is easy to find on-line though.
Performance is better than good but not great. DVD's and 5.1 HD TV sound great, my room is over 20' X 20' and the surround is very good with LOTS of bass. I have watched some Lord Of The Rings at volume 15 that rocked the entire house, the unit will go up to 30...
Music CD's are also top notch sound, and using Dish's Sirius XM service works great too.
One minor minus; the center channel is a little small and some standard TV sounds a bit "muted" in SURROUND mode. There are some helpful preset EQ controls that can help level out the sound, mostly anyway.
All in all, totally worth the money. Less than $300 bucks shipped directly to your house.

Its a nice system for the doller. My sub-woofer is connected to two Fisher 15 in woofers and this system ROCKS with those Fishers, sounds better than the movie theater, the bass is so hard and clear, love the i-pod dock, works with the remote too.

i bought this item for my husband as a christmas gift...which was hard bc i didn't have his help in picking it out...but i read all the other reviews and they were all right! we have a small to medium size living room and wow! and sound is amazing and the power is awesome. It is well worth the money and so easy to set up... i actually had the cable guy come and set it up for me. He recommended extra cords that are not provided bc we have a ditigal box and it reallly made it a difference...so then i had to hook everthing up myself...and it was so easy and i did everything right. we have ours hooked up to play surrond even with just the tv on and i really like it. if you have any reservations ... DONT it is so worth it!

For the price, this is a very good surround sound system. It was easy to unpack, organize, and install. The output is clearly better than the sound of my LCD TV. That being said, there are only two settings and very little "fine-tuning" can be done to personalize the sound.
All things considered, this is a good system for the price.

when i got this i had no probs hooking it up till i wanted to hook more then one item to it i found out that i could only set it up to one thing at a time so whent out got a switcher box so i could put cable on one switch and then game on a nother and so forth. powered up just fine sounded good. then one morning i got up for work and turned it on to watch TV before i left and it powered up but no sound came out checked to see if plugs came loose and all where in good left it on and fixed something to eat and somewhere between 5-15 min the sound came on and where i had been messing with it was way up and woke my wife. since that day any time i turn it off it takes any where from 5-30 min or so to come on started to just mute it and turn every thing else off. started out as a great sound sys then all whent down hill.

When I purchased this Home theater system, I thought it was a good deal, and may be a good deal for others. The problem I have, all of the speaker wires have a preset length. The length is inadequate to place the rear speakers to get true surround sound. I contacted Philips customer service and there is no solution to this problem. The length is what it is. There are no connector accessories to resolve this problem. Therefore, I had no choice but to return the unit to Walmart.

Hooked it up immediately after buying. DVD part is,of course, directly to TV. However, I connected satellite box into the home theater. This is optional, but I thought it best for sound. It is used with my 32 inch Philips LCD, and turning it any more than halfway up will blow you out of the room. Remote is already compatible with the TV, so I just use the one from theater. I have never gone wrong with Philips products, and did not go wrong here. Bought it directly from store shelf so I got to enjoy it immediately. ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS!!!
