This remote has been very handy for watching DVD's and Blu-ray discs on my PS3; the remote is powered by Bluetooth so you must first sync it with your PS3 (instructions included) but after that you activate the same way you do a regular controller (with the PS button). Has standard functionality that you might expect: Fast Forward/Skip/Rewind etc plus it has the triangle, square etc buttons from the PS controller if you want to access the menus. On a side note, the remote comes with a pair of batteries which makes it a good buy.

If you keep the ps3 in the living room for several use(picture,music,etc) other than just a game console it's good to have. If it's mainly use for games and videos in a room not needed.

the remote works great. there are 3 things that sony dropped the ball on. 1. no backlight 2. no power button (for quick on/off) 3. you have to go into settings to link. maybe i'm just spoiled because my xbox contoller does all these things. the xbox has a backlight, power button for quick on/off and it's linked right out the box. most people can live with 2 and 3 but come on sony give us a remote that has a backlight

Works as expected out of the package. Bluetooth is handy in that a direct line of sight is not required to control the PS3. But if you bump any of the buttons while not using the PS3, it will turn the unit on, so you may want a good place to keep it when not in use where it will not be accicentally bumped or stepped on by the cat.

I got this about three months after getting my PS3. You simply can't fathom how much easier it is to navigate DVD menus with this remote instead of having to deal with the basic gaming control. I would recommend purchasing one of these for anyone who has a PS3.

I bought this remote along w/ the HDMI cable to I can watch Blue Ray DVDs on my new sony HD TV! It's great...easy to use. You do need to connect the PS3 to the internet to and register it before you can use it. I put the batteries in and nothing. But I noticed after I registered it via my PS3 system, the remote started working.

The playstation 3 remote is really necessary if you plan on using the ps3 as a blue-ray player. My only beef with it is that there is no "real" power button to turn it on and off. I wish sony had included that. but it is still a good product, and even our dvd's look so such better when played in the ps3.

it takes some figuring out,but once you do it is very easy to use .we use it and save battery power on our wireless remote.that way it has plenty of battery when we get ready to play our games.its worth the buy for that alone.i would recommend getting you one if you have'nt.
