Hoover Mach3 Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum

I bought this piece of junk in January, and though it says it's specially made for pet hair in clogged almost immediately. Though it was easy enough to un-clog, the minute I took the hood off to do so, it refused to work right. It's broken FOUR belts, because the brush will not turn anymore. I will never purchase another like it.

I really like the MACH3. Alot of suction power. Three comments about the machine I would like to pass along. 1. It is heavy to push around, especially if you are getting old like me..2. Wish the cord was longer. 3. Wish it would come with a long-handled slim brush to clean up inside the tank . But it works great and I put the 'Dyson' in my shop and the MACH3 in my living quarters.

I liked this vacuum when I first purchased it and so when parts began breaking I didn't have a problem ordering replacements online. Now I am $100 into replacement parts for a vacuum that doesn't even cost that much to begin with. I have replaced the front wheel carriage twice, the wheels and shafts, and have gone through several belts and now have to replace the main housing unit because the plastic peices that hold the roller brush in place have broken. There are unreplaceable parts that have broken too. The hooks that hold the cord when stored have both broken and a plastic piece around the neck of the vacuum. I suggest before you buy this vacuum you check out the replacement parts online--there is quite a variety available which means they break. This purchase has changed my views about Hoover.

We originally bought this vacuum when we lived in Florida. We ended up giving it away when we moved across the country to Washington. Upon shopping for a vacuum for our new home, we saw the Hoover mach 5, and after being so happy with the mach 3, we thought the mach 5 would be worth the extra money. We got home and it had way more features, but less suction. And the main thing you want a vacuum for is to suck up the dirt. so we returned the mach 5, re-bought the mach 3 and saved $80. And the mach 3 picked up a whole bunch of dirt that the mach 5 left behind. The only thing is you have to keep it clean or it may loose suction.

Granddaughter does the vacuuming and she loves the machine. The vacuum really works well. i understand it is no longer made but if it is, buy one.

It was worth the money. A bit heavier than I expected. Having to empty the dirt cup seems like a chore in itself. You have to empty it often and sometimes it's a bit difficult replacing it back on. But it gets the job done.

It was used once for less than a minute. It never turned on again. It has been in for "warranty repair" for a week with no return date yet.

Stay away from Hoover.

I bought this vacuum in January 2008 and it broke beyond repair in April 2009. You would expect a vacuum to hold up longer especially since I have a very small house and no pets. It was by no stretch of the imagination overworked.

I bought this vac a few weeks ago after our Eureka lost suction when it was a little over a year old.
So far it has been working satisfactorily. I hear people bragging about their Dysons, but I'm not one to spend $299 or more on a vacuum. This vacuum does the job well, especially on carpet. We have quite a bit of ceramic tile and sometimes this vac is a bit lacking on bare floors. (We also have an old $40 Kenmore canister vac that we got when living in a house with laminate flooring and it works wonders on bare floors, so I can always use that one if necessary). However, if you vacuum regularly (as you should), this should not be a problem.
The height adjustment knob for the brush and the retractable handle are a bit hard to work when new, but I suspect that that will get better over time.
Another thing that bugs me about a lot of upright vacs is that they will not suck up anything that is right next to the wall, and that is where all the dirt gets collected!! I think it's a hassle to pull out the hose and have to go along the walls just to get the last of the dirt gone. I read people's issues with the hose on this vac, but I have to admit that it is easier to pull out a seperate hose that the handle, and the little lid where the hose fits into closes on its own once the hose is pulled out. The vac is also a bit wobbly (top heavy) on thick carpet when you "park" it or use the hose.
The one thing that bugged me to now end is that the first time I used this vac, one of the little plastic holders for the cord broke off. I am still contemplating whether or not to take it back or glue the thing back on (with the risk of it breaking again later, and the vacuum looking trashy).
Other than that, compared to our old vacuum, this one is pretty quiet and does a great job if you don't want to dish out a bunch of money. I can't say much about longevity, but I think that most vaccums are built to last quite a bit.
