Omron Omron Pocket Pedometer
The Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer is one of the most advanced pocket pedometers on the market featuring a USB connection. This walking style pedometer also comes with PC software for Windows 2000 or XP that track days, weeks, months, and even years of exercise and measure steps, calories, and distance. Unlike most other pedometers, there is no need to carry this on your waist. You can keep it in your pocket or purse (as well as on your waist), but make sure that it is facing horizontal to the ground for an accurate reading. This Omron pedometer features a large display for a clear viewing, a belt holder and a security strap for a snug fit. Use replaceable lithium batteries to power your pedometer. You dont have to reset it every time; it automatically resets at midnight to keep ready for the next day's use.

Obsolete software

I've had two of these (or maybe 3?). They last two years and hit the wall whether I want them to or not. Belly-up. No mas. And for some reason known only to the the company executives, the software to download it to your computer won't work on anything newer than VISTA. Forget Windows 7. Forget a software update downloaded from the Omron site. Nothing. I have an old laptop with XP on it and the program works great on XP--8 years old. Great graph, history, etc.
So for those two years, it works great. It's accurate and resets itself every midnight. All these years, I've only used it two days a week as a part-time security guard and I don't have to worry about turning it on and off. Actually, you can't turn it on and off. Battery (2032 disk) is good for 6 months.
Why doesn't someone take up the battle cry and make one that's contemporary and will last. It's a super great idea. I've been looking for another company that does this and there aren't any. So I've got two years on a brand new one.

I got this for Christmas. Since i'm an active person, I was excited to see that i can track my calories burned. I followed all the instructions for the setup.
Here it is January 11th and the thing stopped working. It never worked from the beginning. It told me that i only burned 150 calories all day, even after running 5miles. Yeah, that's not right. You can burn 150 calories just sitting around all day. The upload to the computer never worked. No big deal on that, since it stored my past data. Today, the system just stopped working. I thought it was the battery so i changed it. It wasn't the battery. Great, now i have to get another one. For the price i figured the quality would be comprable. I guess not.
I may have gotten a bad one but im not willing to shell out more $ on the same company.

I have owned several pedometers over the years and this is my favorite already! It is very quiet, no clicking sound as I walk, and easy to read. Also very accurate! I am loving it! Did not think I needed the computer software part, but find it very interesting. It was very easy to use.

This little fella works great and the software makes it so easy to see what you have done in monitoring your activity. Have had it a month and works flawlessly! Highly recommend if you are trying to lose weight and want to follow your progress.

All of the Omron Pedometers that I've had have been wonderful.
Why have I had more than one you ask, because of user error, I left a couple in pants pockets and they did not handle the washing very well.

I love my little Omron buddy! It goes everywhere with me but the shower! It has great features, including differentiating between aerobic and nonaerobic steps, and even serves as a watch! I especially like that I can slip it into a pocket and don't have to worry about it being "right side up!" I find that I am more conscious about staying active with it; I wish I could give one to everyone I know!

I have thrown so many pedometers away. This one really works, lets you know if the steps are aerobic, calories, time, etc. It is truly amazing. The software is great because you can track by time of day when you veg and stop moving. All my friends are saying "you really like you new toy!" and they are right. This was a GREAT gift.

I have owned this pedometer for almost 2 years now. It is by far the best pedometer I have ever owned. Unlike many other pedometers it doesn't "count" every time you move or shift around on the couch. It counts your regular step and aerobic steps as well as calories burned and miles walked, all of which you can download on your computer. In 2 years I've replaced the battery maybe 3 times. Awesome product and I'm buying them for my walking buddies too!

I have been using one I was loaned for a month and liked it so much I bought one! It is great, you can track your activity as much or as little as you want and track how many steps, miles, arobic steps and calories you burn. I don't do much of the online stuff but the person who loaned it to me does this online, once a month.

This is one of the easiest to operate pedometers I've had. I love being able to download the information to my computer.
Since I set the stride length, it has performed as accurately as is possible for a pedometer (it's not an exact science). I also appreciate that it is rugged, stays clipped and stays in it's clip holder while I run. I also like the safety clip that allows me to tether it to a belt loop . I also like how it resets itself at midnight, saving more than a week's data as well.
