Anyone who has a HP media center needs this external mass storage hard drive. It plugs in directly to your Media Center external compartment in the front of your computer without having to use the additional plug power cord or USB adapter that comes with the unit. You can use this external mass storage hard drive with any computer that has a USB slott. When I go on vacation I use it with my Laptop to store my pictures. I own two and never run out of storage space. I sound like a commercial but really like this product.

I have 3 HP Media Center PC's that use the drive and I recommend the drive because you can slip it into the slot on the PC and you can also use it as an external drive to connect to other PC's anytime you want to transfer data from one computer to the other. It works very fast on the Media Center PC's and very good to use. I own 3 other drives and I ordered this one because it was a good value and the price was very good.

I don't usually do reviews, but this media drive deserves praise. It's quiet when running, works like a charm, you don't even know it's there. The media drive is the best way to add more memory to your computer, not only for pictures and music, but you can load software to the media drive instead of the C drive. Great product and this one works great.

Just what I needed --- removable, yet always-available, fast, harddisk space on my HP Media Center XP computer. I tried 3 External USB harddisk drives, before I got this. When I rebooted with those 'standard' USB 2.0 external HD drives, XP lost the drive (the Drive: letter disappeared)! I would have to remember to unplug the USB cable of the external drive and plug it back in each time I booted. This made for a real problem when I forgot, and my automatic backup software and my Media Center software were expecting to write "scheduled" jobs to those external drives. Lots of the scheduled tasks were 'erroring out', because the external drive had not come back up, when the computer booted. That isn't a problem with this HP Personal Media drive in my HP Media Center PC. It is there every time the system boots. I have even been able to redefine my 'My Documents' directory to be on this drive, so, if I need to, I can move everything to a new computer in Plug-n-Play. AND, while I'm using this drive in the Personal Media port of an HP desktop computer, it came with everything to let me use it with another computer as an External USB 2.0 HD drive - power supply and USB cord. --- I gotta live up to my nickname, so I'll scrape the bottom of the barrel for one fault with it --- It isn't 500GB or 1TB! ;-)

This is easy to install, I just slid it into the slot in my computer and it worked. No wires to mess with and files transfer fast. Even if you don't have a media slot I would recommend this product.

It was a great buy. To have 300GB extra capacity to rely on for either backing up my pc, putting photos, music, and files. You name it, this HP product is great. It didn't let me down. I can take it from one pc and hook it up to the next for saving pretty much whatever I needed minus an operating system unless you back it all up. I am very pleased.
