I already have a larger one of these, the same brand, so I pretty much knew what to expect. It was as I thought it would be. I wanted a smaller one so I could cook rice with it. It does a good job. I feel like it would be a good alternative to the larger ones for a family of two, or even a single person. I turn it on high, measure the water carefully for the rice, and a few hours later, it is perfect (that is for brown rice which takes longer than white).

For the price, this is a great little crockpot. Because it is oval shaped, you can fit more in it than other 3 qt. pots. The carrying case is very nice. One thing about Hamilton Beach crockpots is that they do cook a little hot. (Just plan ahead and realize that your cook time can be a bit shorter.) I have the 7 qt. version of this crockpot as well and have been very happy with these crockpots.

I love this crock pot. My other one was okay, but it was a pan that sat on top of an electrical pan. This one is a bowl that sits down inside the cooker, get heat all around, not just on the bottom. Has a rubber band that stretches across the lid to keep it locked to the pot, even when reaching above your head to put it up. Cleans up well. I picked it up yesterday, came home washed it out and cooked dinner in it , same day. The cooking time was cut in half, by having a lift out casserole bowl.It has a carrier that zips up to keep contents warm while transporting it. Heavy material, not cheap plastic, that folds nicely to put out of way, when not in use.The carrier I will be using come Easter Dinner.

I liked the first crock-pot so well that I bought a second. It is great for preparing small-medium sized portions. For parties, it is great when you want to prepare two meats for sandwiches. and let everyone help themselves. It's ideal for larger quantities of hot dips or appetizers. The keep warm feature and carrying case are features my big crockpot do not offer.

This is the perfect size for chili or any slow cooker dinner for 2. Easy to clean. Fits in a small space in the cabinet. Only drawback is the ease you can burn your fingers on the metal heating part at the top of the cooker.

I have a 4-qt oval crockpot - and it is huge! I wanted a smaller size - but still oval, as it is so much more convenient and holds more than a round cooker of the same capacity. This 3-qt is absolutely perfect for everyday meals, for 2-4 persons. It cooks very evenly and well. Also the Keep Warm is a great feature that I didn't have on any of my other slow cookers. For the price it is really a very good deal. And on top of that, it comes with a carrying case to take your cooker to a party. Only thing is that it is plain white. I am one who likes colors and designs but it is actually no big deal. Can't talk about durability yet as it is kinda new, but don't see any reason to doubt that it will serve me well for a long time. Love my new crockpot! Get one, you'll love it too :)

Smaller Size Nice To Have,

We have always enjoyed crockpot cooking but my 5 1/2 qt. made so much that we only used it for particular recipes. Sometimes I would make only half the recipe when it served 10-12, but recently I found some new cookbooks that are specifically for 2 to 4 servings and use a 3 qt. slow cooker. Since I could not find this size locally, I ordered one on-line at a very reasonable price. So far I have used it three times. I wasn't sure if it was cooking at a high enough temperature on the Low setting because it seemed very slow heating up, compared to my larger one, and I didn't see the simmering that I did with the larger size. After going on-line to see what the temperature test was for food safety, I found it registered above the safe temperature limit. It cleans up really well and is very light to move around. I'm not sure how it would stand up to bumps as the outside seems like it could dent pretty easily and the side handles are not as sturdy as my larger one. But for the price and the desired size, I am very glad to have found it. I think with reasonable care we will enjoy using it for several years.

I have been looking for a smaller sized slow cooker for sometime now. I foung this one at Walmart.com and as soon as they were back in stock, I got one. Not only is the Site-to-store wonderful, but so is the cooker. It's the perfect size. The travel case is also great. I made meatballs and transported them in 5 degree temps and we got to our destination with the meatballs still hot. You will love this cooker as much as I do!

Pro: Cooks well, looks great, crock very easy to clean, glass cover, keep warm setting. Good size for two or three people (one if you do leftovers). Con: Liquid condenses around cover rim and runs over into base, makes a mess! Cover should be raised 1/16" to let liquid drain back into pot. Cord is annoyingly stiff, springy even.
The "Con" is very annoying because the runover is a design deficiency that adds cleanup time; the cord is CHEAP (probably saves at least one penny per unit?). If these deficiencies did not exist the ratings would all be be five-star (haven't had it long enough to rate durability).
Hint: lift the cover up slightly with a small wire or twist tie looped over the crock rim and under the cover rim. Allows condensed liquid to drain back.
Grudgingly recommended.

We got this because there are only two of us, and our 6 QT cooker is too big for most uses. We've only used it once, but it's a nice little cooker.
When we bought it, we didn't realize it is set up to be portable. It comes with a plastic insulating cover and a rubber band to hold the top on while it is being transported. It would be very useful if you are transporting your food to a party or something that takes place outside your home.

This is a great size for 2 people. It has an oval shape which is good for surface space to meat ratio. The warming feature is good for just keeping food hot. I have a large 6qt but never use it because it is just to big and bulky. The 3qt bowl fits nicely in the dishwasher. Great price, great product.
