Better Homes and Gardens® Seaside Garden Taupe Offset Umbrella 9'

I am very pleased with this product. It was easy to assemble, and easy to use. Provides a large shaded area and the base has wheels so it is easy to move around. Great item for the price!!

Instructions included but no hardware to follow instructions.

I was initially very pleased with the purchase of this offset umbrella from Walmart.com. Several hundred less than what appeared to be comparable ones online, with inexpensive & quick shipping as icing on the cake! I live in Houston, and although we don't see Ike-like winds on a daily basis (seems most days have no wind at all) we do get the occasional gusty days. This umbrella did not hold up to one of our gusty days! I didn't think the wind was blowing all that much, but low & behold it was just enough to send this poorly designed umbrella careening into the grass (I had filled the base weights with water when I put it together - maybe sand would have worked better?). Upon impact, the entire umbrella assembly disintergrated! So now I have a 1/2 an umbrella! Just the pole that sticks out of the base is all that remains! My husband is an engineer & feels that there is probably no good design in this type of umbrella, as its built to be OFFSET & as such, unstable. It worked out well (or so I thought) as our new patio set does not have a hole in the center of the table to stand an umbrella up, and this one could be set next to the table but still cover the people sitting in the chairs. My lesson is learned, however, and I will be looking for a regular old straight up & down umbrella to provide shade! Buyer beware!! Or leave the umbrella closed most of the time & only open it when you are sitting underneath; don't fill the weights with water but sand. If the umbrella had been closed when the winds were gusting, I don't believe it would have blown over.

The look of this product is actually very nice. The quality; well that is another story. I ordered this product about a month ago and it has only been standing in my back yard for about two weeks, as we have had so much rain this summer I really didn't have a use for it. Just yesterday I went to open it and it malfuctioned somehow and as I was messing around with it to get it to open, one of the poles snapped out of position and barely missed popping me right in my eye. The umbrella is now stuck in the open position and we can not get it down. I am going to try and return it to my nearest Walmart with the hope that they will accept it as I have already disgarded the packaging. Something else I would like to mention is that I am not sure I even received the correct umbrella as no where did it mention the name Better Homes and Gardens on the box or anywhere on the umbrella itself.

Product seemed to work well until a breeze came up and now will not close well. Also, hard to remember which way to turn crank to open and close. No graphic or symbol on the crank itself. Nice size for pool deck when breeze is calm.

Purchased this item a few weeks ago. Received with some parts missing; however, a call got them to me in around 8 days. Product is attractive and seems to be well made. Assembled on 6/12/09 so I've not had a chance to fully evaluate.
Instructions were okay but emphasis needs to be put on bottom shaft connection to base.. This must be placed in proper position so when the pole connected to the umbrella is introduced the umbrella opens forward. You will find this out only after you have filled the base with tons of water. So, I've turned the base around backwards and it opens up just fine onto my small patio. Where there's a will there's a way.

Not as gigantic as some of the umbrellas and fits our small condo patio great! We are very happy with the purchase!

I bought this item a few weeks ago and love it. Perfect for my patio, great coverage for shade, and a very sturdy umbrella. The price was pretty good also, as I shopped around and found this to be the best price. I highly recommend this product to all who are looking for this type of umbrella.

I read all the reviews before I purchased so I knew what I was getting. It is not a replacement for the really expensive offset umbrellas on the market but great product for the price. As several people commented, the box arrived looking like it had been beaten up in the delivery truck. Only one piece was missing (an L-bracket for the base) but the company mailed it to me in less than a week. It's easy to use and provides great shade. Doesn't tilt though...
